Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

Am I the only one who figured at least the 10k and 5k would be gone by now?

The spy in me thinks they saw how fast the challenge sold out now and will convert some of those regular registration spots to challenge...

For the Disneyland Half marathon weekend Coast to Coast we got a wrist band put on us when we picked up our bib. This we had to wear until the end of the Half marathon where we went through a tent at the end of the race to get our C2C medal. No picture was needed for Coast to Coast (picture was needed for the Challenge only).

I saw people wearing all days...techincally you just had to wear it for the half marathon, right? So you could show it at the end....and not needed for the 10k, etc.

Well, they stick it on you, so unless you could slide it off your wrist without cutting it off, you had to wear it all days (sleeping, showering, park touring, etc.), but yes they only look for it after the half (which is the only race needed for C2C) when you go through the C2C tent.

For C2C

Side note - just make sure you get your pic taken after bib pick up!

There will be an abundance of folks reminding you... But it's a thing!

I'm confused... You have to have a picture of yourself at bib pickup?? Or for posterity, you have to have a picture of yourself from bib pickup??
Sorry- I feel really out of the loop! TG for Disboards

From what I understand (unless they are changing it), for C2C, you get a wristband at packet pickup. After the half, you show them your C2C wristband to get your C2C medal. I'm assuming there will be different wristbands since some people may be eligible for the blue C2C while others will be eligible for the Kessel Run medal.

For the challenge, you have to take a picture with your bib at packet pickup. There's an official area where they will take a picture of you with your bib. They use this picture to make sure the same person runs the 10k and half.

Thank you!! Again, as with so many other things, I would not enjoy my Disney experiences nearly as much were it not for these forums!!

.... And they keep the photo on file? You - I know silly question, - don't have to carry it with you?? Or do you??

They keep the picture on file. At the end of half, you will go to the challenge tent. People will verify your identity by looking up your bib number on the computer (your picture should show up). Once they have verified that you have completed the 10k and half and that your picture matches your face, you can proceed to get your challenge medal.

I would assume it's the same for Goofy.

I have never done this, so I am not 100%, but I think it has been mentioned on other boards that they have to be in the same household/address. I have also heard for DVC that they have to be on your account somehow (I think someone here had to put her husband on their account with disney too as an authorized member)

Thanks! I wish they'd clarify it more on the DVC page. I didn't look at the AP page to see if it has any better clarification.

Can you explain? This is my first c2c. Is this after bib pick up for both races? Just the second race? What happens if you somehow forget?

It's really easy and low stress!!!!

The CM are looking for your wrist band.

Even without it, behind the bib pickup, they will be taking pictures ... Ask if they don't.

It makes it the process easy!

My thought as well ... it's always been seamless .... but my mug pops up on their ipad!

We didn't. You could skip right over that and come back to it later.
Same here. I don't have a recent proof of time but expect to get one in a December 10K. I just skipped right over that part, without any need to even claim that I would be submitting one later.

That's my feeling as well. I've known for awhile that you can access the links without actually being an AP, but I haven't used them - you just never know if/when Disney will decide to check...

I ended up not registering either...will just take my chances next week.

I'm curious, how many people were able to sign up for the challenge after it went on hold.... Several here have mentioned they were able to, others of us just weren't able to .....
It's sort of like living in limbo!

We couldn't register after refreshing multiple computer windows (in firefox, IE, & chrome) and on my phone for an hour. We were right on at 12 & got kicked out as I said above. I've read on FB groups where people went to pay and only ended up with the pin bundle or jacket and no registration, now that would be annoying. Only saw the challenge open once on one of the computer windows & it was gone as soon as we clicked.

Now I have read people on FB groups saying they got in after being on hold 20 minutes, 30 minutes and I thought one poster said 40 minutes.

I refreshed until it said Sold Out. I never saw the link, only On Hold. I was able to register myself through the AP link as soon as it went live. I then tried to register my daughter through DVC. No luck.

After it was all said and done, I wondered what I had gotten myself into. I've only run one 5K. What in the world was I thinking signing up for a 10K AND half marathon! I guess I better get to work!

I was able to get the Challenge later. I was on at 12:00 and messed up thinking that I could select the Challenge and 5K at the same time. But when I checked out it was only for the 5K and the Challenge was already on hold. I finished the 5K registration with a confirmation email time stamp of 12:05. I then registered my wife and two sons for the 5K and one of my sons for the 10K - with the last one at 12:12. After a couple of minutes of refreshing, the Challenge opened again and I was able to nab it. My confirmation email time stamp for the Challenge is 12:23.

Wow, I refreshed from about 12:08 til it closed. Only once did I see it open, was able to click on the challenge button, but hit continue and it knocked me back to the on hold.... I'm happy people got in.... But I admit to a certain amount of jealousy! ;)
