Can you purchase fewer Dis gift cards per Target transaction? Or purchase a $50 card instead of $100 for example.

  1. Open the Target app and choose "account" from the menu.
  2. A new page will open and you should be able to choose "my GiftCards" from there.
  3. Log in or create a GiftCard account attached to your mobile number.
  4. Enter your individual Target GCs by choosing "save a giftcard" for each one.
  5. To combine them on a single GC, tap the GC that you want to add all of them to (piece of advice here: it should be one that you also have the physical GC for - in case the Target GC website is down or has a problem).
  6. A "GiftCard details" page will open. Scroll down and tap "combine".
  7. Check off the GCs that you want to add to the first GC. Hit "Combine".
  8. All of your GCs should now be combined on the GC that you chose to add them to. The other GCs should disappear from your app or else show a zero balance.

to combine them on the app you should open the details of the card you wan to keep and a combine button will be at the bottom. Intuitive from there.

Has anyone been charged tax on Target.com for Disney gift cards? I just went to buy one and it charged tax.

There was a discussion about this problem one page prior to the page we are on now.
I just tried to order gift cards from target, and it's trying to charge me tax. Is anyone else having this problem?
No, it just charges me the gift card amount minus the 5%

I just checked and it's doing it to me too, even if I continue through to the payment screen.

Yep, I called them earlier when I saw that. They said they were having some issues with the loading of their specials ad this week, and that they'd let tech support know. It isn't supposed to charge tax.

Oh thank goodness you guys checked this. I was just about to spend my first $1k on gift cards, thought I made an oversight as was about to lose money. Knew you would have the answer!

Sales tax is now gone. Happy shopping!

The Target app doesn't show the combine option for me either anymore (I'm on Android). You can still do it if you go to http://m.target.com on your phone browser or your computer.

I am still getting charged tax when I try. I have tried off and on for the past hour. I also talked via chat on Target.com and they said 3rd party gift cards are to be taxed now as policy. Whether that is true or not, it does not make sense. Attempting to explain the fact I would essentially be taxed twice depending on what I purchased with the gift cards didn't seem to get through to the person. I have not called customer service yet.

It's not showing tax on mine anymore as of this morning. Maybe try a different browser?

Thanks, but I have tried different browsers, clearing cache, guest account, etc.

I just tried the mobile app (which I never use) and it charges 2.00 tax even as guest, as opposed to 2.85. Hmm, but my phone was using my wifi at home.

I turned my phone's wifi off and finally no tax. I am in the state of Florida if anyone else is having the issue, maybe it is localized.

So excited...just spent my $500 on my disney rewards card. I ended up getting the $0 fee one. I know that this isn't the disney visa thread ..but I do get get a gift card and Im excited so I had to shout it out. Have been told that some get them right away. I sure hope it doesn't take long...I need it for August.

I'm android too, there was a tiny link at the bottom that said click here to access a previous gift card, I clicked that and it took me to the place where you set it up and I re entered the cards and was able to combine fine! Thanks for the help

Yup, that just opens up m.target.com in the web browser for me, it's not in the app anymore. I just bypass the app all together now and go to the website, haha.

Thank you for this tip. I was being charged tax, too. The online customer service person said all physical gift cards are taxed, but that electronic gift cards are not. This page says "no sales tax is charged when purchasing GiftCards." Maybe that just refers to Target GCs, though.

Gift cards are not taxable in any state - primarily because you are essentially exchanging cash for cash. Taxing upon purchasing a card would result in double taxation. Sales tax should only be charged on "tangible personal property" and predetermined (by state) services, of which a gift card is considered neither.

I got my $200 gift card today, we charged and paid off the $500 2 weeks ago.
