Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE RESORT Information & Questions

Looking good on both iPhone & ipad! Good job.
Adding pic so you can see iPhone page

Thanks. I did pop into a local "multi-device website demonstration and testing facility" yesterday (also known as a phone store :) ) and tried the new layout on an iPhone 5 and an iPad before I updated the code on the live site.

I'm tweaking things as I encounter odd layout issues within the mobile variant (I've just done the Gallery index page so it is responsive rather than locked to four columns for example). Most of these tweaks also improve the general desktop functionality too, which is a bonus.

Currently I'm trying to work out why some pages render wider than others (e.g. where you can scroll sidewards even when there is no visible content outside of the current view).

Mardi Gras this year (Tuesday 17 Feb) will feature the resort's annual "pargo parade" (a mini float competition, designed and run by the resort cast members) starting at 10am and travelling around both resorts, and then lots of Mardi Gras fun and games from 5pm-9pm over at French Quarter.

If you want to watch the Mardi Gras parade live, pop over to the www.eyesonears.com website at 10am EST tomorrow morning (Tuesday 17 Feb) as site user Darlene (username 'newharmony') plans to live stream it.

You'll need to be registered on the site to view the video feeds and join in with the live chat, but it's quick and free to do. If you miss it, Darlene has said she will record it so you'll be able to catch up on it later.

Enjoy!

Just a lot going on, back to work with the mouse!!!

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Whereabouts are you working for the Mouse these days by the way......?

Any plans to pop over to Port Orleans for the Mardi Gras parade this morning I wonder?

We have friends coming down to stay at POR the first week in March. They were hoping we could meet them Thursday afternoon and swim in the resort pool. I know pools are only for guests staying at that resort, but I've also seen it suggested that a resort guest could ask a lifeguard if they'll allow it on a case by case basis. I'm wondering how likely this is, given that it's a fairly quiet time of year. I just don't want to drag my kids over if they're likely to say no. There's no guarantee, of course, but any idea on how strict they are with the resort-guests-only rule at POR?

FTR, I'm absolutely okay with meeting our friends in one of the theme parks. This was their suggestion and since it's their vacation, I would rather do what's easiest and most convenient for them. I know it can be a pain trying to coordinate a theme park visit with more than just your immediate family.

Thanks!

It's very hard to answer that because it really is up to the individual lifeguard. Even if it's not crowded, they could still say no.

As you've said, the official answer should be "no", so I would expect that would probably be the response if you asked someone.

However, they don't check anyone's ID at the Port Orleans pools (and especially if people are visibly wearing Magic Bands) so as long as you come from the direction of their room, and go back the same way to get changed afterwards, no one would be any the wiser.

And there's always the quiet pools.

My hubby and I are coming back to Port Orleans this May! We are so excited. One of our favorite resorts to stay at! With all the construction going on at DTD are they still running the boats there?

Hi everyone just booked POR for dec 15 -31 dec 2016 seems a life time away anyhow my question is- What size is the Murphy beds ?

Thanks

Is there any good areas to run around the resort? Would it be rude to run on the paths around the resort with people/families walking to and fro at the same time? It's supposed to be -15 here tomorrow night... the idea of running in warm weather & sunshine is making me pack my running shoes!

Hello Port Orleans family!! ^_^

We got 20-25% off discount for CSR but are 95% sure we're switching to POR ^_^ We just love Port Orleans! Our favorite is POFQ but POR is a close second :)
