Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

I have no idea. The medals last year (Lilo & Stitch) were SO precious! Especially the 5K medallion! I was so sad I wasn't running!

I'm not sure that there's a consistent timeline with the medals...it looks like they released the Princess Half medals in November, so 3 months before the race weekend. There's no way any of the Disneyland races will still be open then (in fact I'd guess they'll sell out in a day...maybe a little more than a day for the half). But who knows!

Oh, I'm definitely going to register when it opens, just haven't settled on the 5K. After those 4 early mornings for Dopey... only 2 early morning keeps sounding better and better. Plus, I've never been to Disneyland so I know I'm going to want to spend more time in the parks and exploring.

FYI for those that missed out on DDD - Get Sports has added more DDD spots on their site.

Acclaim also has DDD available, as they haven't started selling their bib allotment yet. They are also doing a two-installment payment plan because they can only sell the packages, which makes the initial cost so high.

Get is also doing the 2 payments. We decided on them so we could guarantee we had slots

Now that I've caught up on all the posts... I've convinced DH for DDD to get our Coast to Coast! We did Dopey at WDW...I'm pretty sure we are addicted to the BLING!

You all have me super nervous about regular registration. I'm gonna wait it out, and if we can't get in, then we will look a travel providers. We really aren't into the whole Pasta Party so not really worth paying if we aren't going to use it. I'll be in the car coming back from a work conference when registration opens. I'm gonna try to get DH to do his own, and I'll do my own but that makes me worry bc what if one gets in and the other doesn't. Plus, he has never done the whole registration thing...I'm always the one registering us both. I don't think he gets the stress and importance of doing it immediately. I almost had a breakdown registering for Dopey, then it took almost an hour to sign up for GSC for this year. Fingers crossed for easy registration!

So, I just had a chance to read the stories and watch the videos about the 60th Anniversary additions - all the nighttime entertainment!

I'm so excited I'll get to experience it all in September now! But how am I supposed to go to bed at a decent hour when there are so many new things to see??

So the special events for the 60th celebration will still be going on at that time? I wasn't sure how long they were running them for but it could factor into me trying to get into Double Dare. Would like to see them.

Our first grownup trip to dlr was mid September of 2005. We didn't even know anything was going on (one day visit, my kid was little, I was clueless) until I came home and looked at the maps, which were all themed for the 50th. I assume things will still be going on for Labor Day at least.

They're going to a lot of effort and expense for the 60th celebrations. I imagine they will keep it going for at least the full year.

FWIW we were at DLP in 2013 and they STILL had all the 20th anniversary stuff happening :thumbsup2 The 20th anniversary show (Dreams, the best Disney night time show in the world :goodvibes) has now become the regular evening entertainment.

Yes !!! The special events for DL's 60 will still be going strong !!!

Anyone have ideas on the character theme for the 5k and 10k? Or will we not know that until medal designs are released? Plan to sign up for DDD but may do the 5k if it's a cool theme. Speaking of medals, when do they usually release the designs for this particular race?
So I'm reading through the 2014 DL Weekend thread (research) and rD tweeted concept art of the medals in mid-June. So hopefully it'll be similar this year!

I really hope they keep the classic D medal for the half this year...but I have a feeling they'll change it being the 10th anniversary.

Last year we all just kind of figured out the theme when the new training plans were uploaded. I can't remember when that was, but the training plans start at the beginning of May, so it would have been well before then. Probably still too late to wait until you know the theme to register though.

OK...I really have no patience :rotfl2: I confirmed my DDD bib and daughter's 10k from Acclaim. Disneyland hotel is booked and just jumped on what I think is good airefare. $375 from BOS to LAX!!

Glad I won't have to worry about registration anymore.

Smart idea! I think I'm just going to stick with DDD. Save a little money and spend some more time in the parks.

Wish I had a secure reservation. The flight I've been tracking just dropped $150.. But I'm one of those that can't book the flight without the reservation. Also waiting on Southwest to release flights for September. Decisions..

Wow, you're all sorted then :thumbsup2

We were the opposite. Had to book our flights super early (October maybe?) to get the routes and dates we wanted. Still wasn't quite early enough and we had to be flexible, but close enough :thumbsup2

When do Southwest release their flights? Most airlines we deal with do it a year in advance.

Southwest says on Feb. 19 it expects to open its schedule for sale through Oct. 30. Currently it's open for reservations through Aug. 7.

Thanks for that! Was going to look tomorrow to see when they were going to open them.

I broke in my new shoes today!!

OK, I know you're thinking "Girl, so what. New shoes? Boring!".

Well, little back story - I was born with a pretty severe clubfoot. I've had many reconstructive surgeries, a hip adjustment, lengthening of my Achilles tendon and all that, just to be able to walk like a normal person - let alone run. I generally wear flip flops or backless shoes, because it gets cost-prohibitive at times for me to buy multiple pairs of shoes (if I can even find them!). Why? Because my left foot is a size 5 and my right foot is a size 8. :(

I've been training in size 8 Inov-8 shoes (which I LOVE, btw!) ... and lo and behold, about a week ago I found a deal on the exact model of shoes I love that let me buy two pairs (and they had my sizes that I was fit for!) for the price of one pair!

I'm so excited for a run tomorrow, and to see what it feels like to run in a comfy shoe that fits my little foot! Prior to my last 10k, I was really starting to blister on the tips of my middle toes because I could tell my toes were trying to hold the larger shoe in place. I can't wait. Just. Can't. Wait.

Hope everyone's training is going great!

WOW! I am so impressed and excited for you! My second son was born with a club foot and he has a lot of the same issues....although the size difference between his two feet are not quite that different! He and my husband run the Toughmudder races.
But I have to say, reading all of the posts from all of you runners is so inspiring....now I'm thinking of running a race!
Best of luck to you!

I am planning on the DDD and it's my first trip to Disneyland. I am banking on getting registered as I have already booked my room at Paradise Pier for sept 3-6 checking out on 7. Just wondering if anyone ever takes the risk to room share? Those rooms aren't cheap! If anyone is interested please pm me!
