Remove All Of The Arcades From WDW Resorts?

Does anyone else think that the game arcades in the resorts are a waste of space? On our last few stays (POR Riverside, GF, CR) every time we walked past the arcade they were all completely empty. Seems like these spaces could be put to better use. Anyone that would want to play video games while at WDW would probably use their phone or mobile device anyway.

My kids loved them. It was a great place for them to hang out and play games together. Just yesterday one of them said that they plan to spend MORE time there when we go back!

They are great for rainy days, I can't think of any time I've walked by one and it was completely empty, no matter the weather though.

My kids had a great time in the arcades after park days on our last trip. They are already looking forward to it again this December! My husband and I loved being able to sit down and have a cup of coffee after a long day while they played:)
On a side note, does anyone know if POR's arcade is set up with a place parents can sit and chat while the kids play? We stayed at AoA last year and it did. Thanks!!

The last time we stayed at POP with my nephews they enjoyed the arcades, I know you can play games on a phone or tablet, but the fun was winning the tickets and getting prizes. I think the arcades at the Value Resorts are better (bigger) than the one at POR Riverside, but my cousin loved the Arcades at all the resorts last summer when we were there - - not a waste of space in my mind, what would you replace it with another gift shop or Starbucks?

My kids love the arcades. We made good use of them this last trip when it rained and the pool was closed because of lightning.

kelconic, I can't remember offhand if there is a place to sit in the arcade. I don't think so, though. You might ask in the POR thread, someone there is bound to know.

Our son loved the Arcade when we were there.

Bet he goes back to it when we return to the World in December.

Oh, he doesn't have a mobile device to play on, so an arcade is a great option.

Our youngest son loves the arcades too and always requests arcade time . . . my husband, teen boys and I would love for Disney to remove them!

I wish they would get rid of the arcades as well, but for purely selfish reasons. I didn't spend precious vacation money for the kids to play in an arcade. But the kids don't see it that way!!!!!:)

Nope. I like the arcades. And I have never seen them empty.

I have to say too the only way to see the entirety of the one at POR is to walk into it and look around a bit. You can't really walk by it and see who is inside. The first part is hallway. So it could very well be there were players you didn't see.

I've never seen them empty. The one at AoA last spring was actually quite crowded the night we went in. DD likes to spend a little time in them if we have a few minutes free in the evening.

I know it's easy to think of things as being a "waste of space" if it's not something you use or care about, but if enough people do to make it profitable, then it most likely will not be removed.

Personally I think the vast majority of the shops in the parks are a "waste of space". I'd much rather see them go and be replaced by rides and character spots, but I'm sure Disney feels differently, lol!

Not empty at AoA the times I past it. Fun for the kids, keep 'em. I would love if they had more vintage machine for us old fogies...Galaga, Space Invaders, QBert, pinball machines, etc etc ;)

I wouldn't be against that at all. You can only play so much skee ball...

DS is bummed that they removed the arcade in the Poly GCH. Don't know if WDW have plans to move it, or kill it altogether. Once upon a time, Moana Mickey's Fun Hut was one of the best arcades on property but that was closed long before.

Our friends won an iPad in one of the arcades last year and on our Dec. trip my DH and I had a lot of fun in there for a bit. Would we go every trip? Nyah, but I would hate to see them go.

My teens spent a ton of time in the arcades at AoA and AK on our last family trip.

They'd get bored in the parks so they'd catch the bus back to the resort and hang out in the arcades for a couple of hours before we all met up again.

I think they spent more of their money in those than they did on misc. souveniers.
