Please take it away! (BRING BACK OFF KILTER!!)*THERE IS A PETITION*

I'm Canadian but have not yet seen the lumberjack show. Based on everything I've read so far I don't want to. The sad thing is it seems to perpetuate the already overdone myths that sorry to say already exist about Canada ie : we're a wooded/snow covered non populated country. Before anyone laughs and tells me I'm off base, many moons ago while in school I had a summer job working for the Niagara Tourism branch of the region. I spent a couple of summers working at tourist info booths and you wouldn't believe some of the things we saw and questions we heard. As examples(and I'll leave the states of where people were from out of this since I don't wish this to become controversial), the couple that came up in August, skis on the roof, wanting to know where ski country was, or the family wanting to camp in "the great outdoors somewhere close to Toronto". It was at that point I learned that some Americans really do have the wrong idea when it comes to Canada (sort of like a lot of Canadians who think every American in the US carries a gun). Bottom line is that this lumberjack show doesn't help with mythology and imho D can/should do better .

Off Kilter won't be returning unless they are willing to do it as independent contractors. Disney isn't willing to hire them as full time cast anymore. But if there is enough negative reaction to the lumberjacks Disney may be inclined to buy out their contract....if not, they're going to be there until at least next October.

They might have trouble getting rid of him. He is the owner of the company they contracted with to do the show. and he isn't an actor or presenter - he's a dude who runs a lumberjack show, so we probably should expect him to perform like one. But then I believe that if Disney wanted actors, that's what they should have hired. maybe instead of letting so many of them go.
Didn't know he was the owner. It's going to be a long year unless he can be convinced to let an actor take over. We can only hope that Disney might put the heat on him. Unfortunately, I suspect not likely. But Disney will be getting a lot of negative reaction for such an unprofessional show.

We were there last week, and I truely missed Off Kilter.:sad:The lumberjack show is an embarrasment and as much as I love Disney they made a huge mistake here. Walking around World Showase and watching the shows was always a favorite of ours. This trip not so much...so many we enjoyed gone,Off Kilter,Moroccan, British Envasion,World Showcase Players, Ziti Sisters...sigh

We were there this week and when we heard the chainsaws buzzing loudly (taking away our tranquil, serene sights and sounds of the EPCOT we know and love), we couldn't wait to hurry past them! Worst idea ever at EPCOT (besides allowing the soon-to-be-built, ever-annoying Frozen attraction to replace Maelstrom.) EPCOT continues to perpetuate the "dumbing down" of our culture. It's going downhill quickly, unfortunately.

I admit that we rarely stopped to watch Off Kilter but they always sounded good to us and they added a lot of atmosphere to the area. Chainsaws just remind me of a construction site which I guess fits Disney lately come to think of it.

So sad, but so true :sad2:

I haven't seen it yet, but I live in rural NH and the sound of chainsaws to me is nothing more than neighbors putting up their winter wood for heat!!!! NOT a sound I love. Rather irritating, actually. When I get to EP next spring, I'll have to pay attention to the times guide and make a point to be someplace else far away when this group is performing...... :headache:

HELLO DISNEY!!!!

I just watched Off Kilter's final performance. I can guarantee you that awful lumberjack show will never draw a crowd 1/1000th the size!

What are you thinking?????????? :confused3 :confused3

I've never much been a fan of Off Kilter, but honestly, this lumberjack show is ridiculous. It lost my attention after a very short while.

Why not integrate a hockey attraction into Canada? Maybe maple syrup drizzled over snow cones? A whale watching boat ride, or mountain climbing, or a boat ride that plummets down the Niagara? I'm sure the imagineers could dream up something, right???? No???

The sound of chain saws just doesn't cut it for me (yes, pun intended).

Disney doesn't want guests enjoying shows - takes away time from spending money.

I may have missed it, but has anyone noticed or heard if you can hear the chainsaws over at the Beach Club or Boardwalk? Just wondering....

I wasn't at a resort when the show was going on, but you can definitely hear the chainsaws at the China and Germany pavilions.

I just watched the final show on yourtube, as well. Did the end seem strange to you? I wondered why there was a security guard standing off stage, then a manager came down, opened the door and was getting the guys off stage. Then, more security guards came out. I just wonder what prompted all of that. I wonder if they were angry about the extra encores that Off Kilter did, if they were worried about how the fans would react when the band finally left the stage, or what. Oh well. Guess we will never know.

I have only seen the show online, so I don't know how bad the noise is in person. For those who have experienced it, let me ask this. Do you think the show would be better, possibly even acceptable or good, if they got rid of the chainsaw part?

I'm trying to think...

What kind of act would represent Canada well? (I'm Canadian and I still can't think of any one type)

There is the French influence in Quebec...but then there is the France pavilion.

Then there is the English influence...but then there is the UK pavilion.

Maybe something from the indigenous/First Nations culture?

I like the idea of Celtic-influenced music. There is certainly an Irish and Scottish influence in Canada as well. Or maybe I just like that type of music.

:scratchin

They could put on a mini Calgary Stampede.

Oh wait, they already have that once the Lumberjack show starts. ;)

Without the chainsaws you have guys throwing hatchets at a piece of wood; honestly it is the most lame thing I ever saw.

1. A Stu Hart Wrestling show
2. Degrassi Live (bonus points if they can get Drake to reprise his role, of course ;))
3. Wayne Gretzky's Show Down
4. scrub the whole show idea and put in a ride similar to Expedition Everest with Big Foot instead of Yeti.
5. Bobsled ride
6. Lumberjacks throwing axes at Justin Bieber cutouts.
