On the plane, takeoff in 5 min! So excited for arrival at the beach club in a few hours!

I hope you have a great trip! :) :cool1:

It's never too early to start planning and dreaming, right? And I am sooooo excited even though I don't go until the end of April! It's my first time at the YC, and I have read in a couple of places that "nearly all" of the rooms have full balconies, and that some of them are shared. Is this true? If so, does that mean I would still have to put a request in for a full private balcony? I have booked a GV. Thank you!

I think that most of the shared balconies are for the standard view rooms. There are only a few rooms without full balconies. So the odds are good that you will get a full private balcony with a garden view room. But you can always add it to your request, just in case. :)

All this talk about refurbishment has me curious. I know we don't know exactly when the BC refurbishment is going to start, but once it does start, how long is it expected to take?

We don't know that either.

The last BC refurbishment (in 2008) lasted around a year. I think they are doing even more stuff this time around. But the timing could depend on how much they are doing at once, so the timing could be different than before.

I think we should have a better idea of the timetable and completion date once the work has started and we see how long it takes to do the club level floor, then the 4th floor (which has more rooms).

:)

Makes sense. Thanks :)

I wanted to post one more time so I could hit 150 finally after all these years. :rotfl: So, I thought here would be a good place as you have all been so friendly.:)

I am really getting vacationitis (anxious to go on vacation.) It is cold here in the midwest today so can't wait to get to the nice weather. However, the colder weather is good motivation for staying indoors to pack. I have barely anything done and that doesn't do well with my OCD personality.

Wish me luck!:wizard:

Congrats on Post 150!

I plan my milestone posts too. :thumbsup2

Happy packing, won't be long now.

Tried posting images of an old YC/BC water bottle we found at mom's house and it isn't working.

This reminds me...
I bought a water bottle at YC last year, and meant to pick up a 2nd one when I was there in August, but alas, I forgot. Is there any way to order it (or any other RSM for that matter) online?

Looking for some honest opinions from some of you BC lovers. We have been to the BC a few times and like you, LOVE IT. We are visiting WDW in January with our DD and her family. They don't want to spend the money to stay at BC so we're staying at POR. But, our dates with them don't overlap 100%. We will be together with them 3 nights and then we'll have 3 nights on our own. I'm contemplating doing a split stay, but I'm wondering if it's really, really worth it. We would arrive BC on Wednesday late. Thursday we're going to spend the day at Daytona Beach. We leave on Saturday. This is also the weekend of the marathon so I assume the Epcot area will be busier in general. So that's the background. What would you do???

First, We've done a couple split stays, and don't mind them. Second, I can't answer specific for BC. However, our most recent trip we did a split stay between POR and AKL CL - we LOVED AKL and CL was amazing. However, given the cost, and time spent packing mid trip and unpacking other stuff. I'm not sure I'd do it again for such a short trip, unless the second part of our trip was resort only (we've done that once and it was great).

Even though I don't like mods (I'd rather be value or deluxe) I really enjoyed POR.

So if I was in your shoes, I'd just stay at POR.

However, that could change depending on what amenities you'd really like about BC.

I've done two split stays. The first, we spent six nights at AKL and three at the Poly. The issue there, I believe, was the age of my kids (6 and 7). They were so tired (and so was I) by the end of the first part of the trip, we didn't really appreciate the last part of it. I'm not sure the second really counts, since we spent six nights at the YC and then moved to POR for one night. I really liked POR, but we didn't really have time to settle in and get to know the resort, if that makes sense. To a point, I think it depends on what type of traveler you are. I think if I really knew the resort, a split stay might not bother me because it would be like being home at two different places. Having stayed at YC now, I could easily split my time between AKL and YC (we've stayed at AKL four times now). The packing and unpacking doesn't bother me that much. It's more a matter of settling in to where things are. Where can I get food, a drink, go swimming? Where are the activities (which might now matter so much if you don't have kids).

That said, it sounds like you really love the BC and know it well. Having stayed once at an Epcot resort, I really love it and can't wait to do it again, because we really enjoyed wandering to Epcot for a few hours at night. But were you planning to go to the parks? Or was it more a matter of being there and taking advantage of that? Do you tend to hang out at the resorts a good deal? It not, and you don't want to visit Epcot when it's potentially busy, it might not be worth it.

Not sure that helps at all...

Looking at the options, you don't get to BC until late Wednesday, you aren't there Thursday, and you leave Saturday. So, if all you are planning on doing is laying around SAB on Friday, it could be a very expensive water park visit. If you were wanting to stay at BC just to get to Epcot, again, is that one-day worth the added expense just to walk to the park? Looking at my options, I'd stay at POR, spend Friday either at Epcot or just wandering the DTD area and have a REALLY nice dinner out on Friday evening before going home at one of those fancy restaurants (maybe watch the fireworks from the top of the Contemporary while eating dinner?).

Just my thought.

The marathon shouldn't have too much of an effect on the Epcot area. The race starts near Epcot and they run through that park first, really early, hours before the park opens. I think they run through MK next. We were in AK on marathon day once and watched them run through the park around 11 am. It really doesn't interfere too much with park activities. There will be spots where you will have to wait for runners to run past you before the CM's will let the crowd cross, but it really isn't too much of a bother. As long as you take the park buses that day, you will be fine. The people who try to drive that day have the most problems which the marathon routes. The only park I would avoid that day is MK at rope drop, but it would be fine later in the day. :)
