The resort is beautiful! we had requested casita but we ended up in ranchos, loved the location to the dig site, a bit of a walk to El Centro and only went there a couple of times. Close to bus stop 4 but the buses - ugh
The pool is awesome, loved the slide but it was only open two days during our stay. Housekeeping left a bit to be desired and for some reason on two days they would remove the bed rails to make up the bed. Not fun when your two year old falls asleep on the return trip and hoping she doesn't wake up when trying to put the rails back on the bed.
The cast members at pepper market were rude and didn't seem to want to be there.
The bus system was horrible, waited for MK and Epcot bus for at least an hour. Luckily we had our car and decided to just drive to the parks
None of these small things ruined our trip but left me feeling like I would explore other resorts before returning to CSR

I know there were a couple conventions going on last week.... Could be why you didn't get a room in the Casita's...

When we checked in I did ask the CM and she called someone and that was what she said a couple of conventions and the rooms were all booked. But honestly the resort seemed empty. The ranchos weren't that bad as we ate breakfast in the room each morning and only went to the main building a couple times for dinner or lunch. It's just the bus stop was a killer, completely full by the time it's your stop, I honestly can't imagine it during a busy time of year.

I'm stalking this thread because I'm considering upgrading our hotel (from ASMo) for next year if a decent deal shows up. It'd be either CSR or one of the Port Orleans...

I go to a lot of conferences for work though so it might be weird to be at a conference hotel for my vacation! :rotfl: I'll want to run around handing name badges to people and trying to direct them to meeting rooms. (I won't really WANT to, per se, but instinct might kick in...)

I'm glad you were happy with your location even though you didn't get your request:) We requested Cabanas but got Casitas, which we LOVED.
I have to say, I find it so incredibly weird that the week after we had awesome bus service, there are so many reports of terrible bus service! I'm not disbelieving anyone- in Feb. we were at POFQ the *same* week as another Dis'er I'd been in contact with, we had horrendous bus experiences and hers were great-I just can't figure out what can make such a difference in bus service from one week to the next:confused3 Neither week was overly busy or a holiday or anything......

And it's funny, DH and I both commented on how friendly and talkative the CM's at the Pepper Market were each time we went there. At POFQ in Feb. we found the food court CM's MUCH less friendly than usual, which wasn't the case when we stayed there in 2012. I like hearing others' experiences even when they differ from mine :chat:

Actually there's only 2 people reporting bad bus service for this time period and there are also 4 people reporting great bus service for the same time period. ;)

I've always found the CM's at Pepper Market great. We usually stay for 2 weeks and probably eat there more than most people. The CM's typically recognize me and strike up conversations. I've had nothing but good experiences at PM. It's the best QS at WDW IMO.

Cafe Rix does have some grouchy ladies working behind the counter!! :lmao: I can totally believe any complaints about that.

Sorry you had those problems. I am here right now and we are loving it. I have stayed in casitas before and I wasn't a big fan but loved the hotel. This time we are in ranchos 6B and I love it. 5 minute walk to the dig site, the quiet pool is right across the way, and I love the look with the rocks and cacti. We haven't had any problems with the buses, housekeeping, or the pool slide. We haven't gone to the pepper market yet but we will tomorrow.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the gelato is back at Cafe Rix? We stopped at CSR last month for lunch and wanted to get some gelato but they said they were completely out. I then heard from another guest that they were told they weren't going to carry it anymore :confused3. Anyone know?

I'm here now and they have the gelato! However its lot there in the morning or at night, you can only get it during the day from what I've seen.

During our week stay we chatted with the CM that was stationed at our bus stop #4 and he even said they were having issues with the buses and trying to figure out if it was a computer glitch or not but something was wrong with the bus schedule for MK and Epcot the other parks seemed to be running fine. Hopefully they have corrected the problem.

Good, I hope they fix it before saturday:thumbsup2

Hi everyone! Only 47 more days til I'm relaxing by the lake :) quick decorating question!? Has anyone in this thread decorated their room window?? We're going down for my 25th birthday and DBF wants to decorate the window in a birthday theme for me but I don't want him to spend money on things to have mouse keeping just take it down/ get us in trouble haha there's been conflicting reports on what can and can't be used on the windows, so any help would be much appreciated!! We're staying preferred so we'll be in the casitas, if that matters at all!

I decorated the window for my daughters birthday. I used window suction hooks from the dollar store and strung the banner up. I also bought magentic clips at the dollar store to hang things on the front door. No tape is allowed.
