Well I am officially away from the Y&B until 7/27. Jeanne and Lily arrive this Saturday and it will be a whirlwind of Disney until they leave on 7/30. I actually am working 7/27 and 7/28 while they are here. I thought it was too much to take off three weeks so I opted for just two.

I'll try to keep up on the boards as much as possible but Lily will keep us going nonstop and I won't have computer access while at the Cabins and the GF.

Met some new Dis friends this past two days and had a super time with some long time Dis friends. Had another super dinner at Crews Cup with EasternShoreGal and family and spent lots of time talking with Couchy. What a super family we have all become. Sure missed seeing Dansdad. He had here for so long, I was sure I'd see him again Sunday and Monday. But he'll be back soon!

Hurry up Saturday!!!!!!

After switching resorts from WL, to CBR, to SSR now finally to YC for 11/9-11/15 for my 33rd birthday! So excited! I think we will arrive on 11/8 and do one night at BC before checking in on the 9th for FDVisa. Our first time at Deluxe!:goodvibes

You sound like us! We are staying 11/9-11/15 FDVisa BC after switching from Polly to WL and now BC. (Happy with our decision) we are celebrating my sons 1st birthday and my 26th birthday, we are a day apart and I spent my last bday in the hospital having him! Haha maybe we will see you around SAB. I'll be the lady with a sunken treasure in her hand with 3 crazy kids almost all under 3!!!!

everyone here talks about the candles that smell like the BC lobby..well, one of the girls in the office brought a candle in today and I have a heater on my desk so I am sitting here and I keep thinking I smell something..then it occurs to me!! It smells like the candy shop on Main Street!!!

10 days till I am there and this candle is making me crave a candy apple!!

TeenaS I was wondering how pin trading worked? I have a 4 year old soon who loves to collect anything and he takes care of his things very well. Would it be something he would enjoy? How do we get started?? He's kind of on the nerdy/OCD side and has only requested a wand from the wizarding world of harry potter and yodas light saber from disney.
Thanks!

Lily loves it and she's almost 3. I think at that age wearing a pin lanyard is not a good thing but we carry her pins for her in a ziplock bag that we keep in our purse. When she sees a CM with pins, she will ask us for her pin bag and go trade.

Most of the CMs in merchandise areas and people in my position (greeters) wear pins. We have to trade pins ... its part of our job. I do not recommend trading with anybody except a CM. So you would purchase some pins to start ... ones your son does not like. The cheapest ones you can find. However, they have to be Disney pins (people will try to trade everything ..yesterday somebody tried to trade a Pepsi pin with me) and they have to be the metal ones. You can't trade the "buttons".

When you see a CM that is wearing pins, you go up and say "can I see your pins". You look at them and if you see one that you want, you just tell them you'd like to trade for it. We have to trade. We cannot negotiate. Then you give the CM any pin that you want. The CM does not pick what pin they want from you. The guest has all the power. There are a few rules. You can only trade from the same person twice in one day. So you can trade two pins with me every day you see me. You cannot give me a pin I already have. If you see a CM with a green lanyard instead of the blue or black, that means only a child can trade with them.

You can buy a pack of pins at any Disney merchandise location with 7 pins in it for about $29.99. They are probably about the cheapest pins you can find at Disney!! Get him a pack that he will not like to encourage him to trade for the ones he does like.

You can also purchase pins on ebay but if you purchase them in large lots (usually 25 or more), they are way cheap but they are what are called "scrappers". They are not authentic Disney pins. They look the same but they are the pins that the manufacturers are suppose to melt down because there is something wrong with them. Usually they are much thinner or have a visible mistake on them. Somehow instead of getting melted down, they get sold on ebay in large lots. The Disney CMs have to take them because they are Disney pins. However, they will get thrown away if the CM knows they are scrappers. There are some legitimate pin traders on ebay that for whatever reason are selling pins and they are not scrappers. You can pick them up fairly cheap ..usually singles or in lots of five.. but you have to know the legitimate pin traders. If you want, PM me and I'll send you a name of a person on ebay that I purchase pins from for Lily to trade. I've only gotten really really good pins from him ... all real ones and never got a scrapper. And they are very reasonable.

We were. We ended up spending early morning on arrival day at MGM, no fast passes, went over to Epcot to ride Soarin with a fast pass then back to the pool. I seem to remember our DD driving us to pick up groceries and we had 6:30 ressies at B&C but otherwise we were definitely at the pool?
Okay, so if you have any pictures of a chubby lady with a black bathing suit with polka dots on her bodacious *ahem*, then you must delete them immediately! LOL.

That night at the pool, my whole family (sans me) was playing water volleyball. I couldn't believe how many people were playing. It was so awesome!

Thank you so much for your help! We will def be trying out the pin trading! Hope to be seeing you at the BC during our dates, 11/9-11/15.

Nearly time to go!!! We're not packed. :scared1: And one of the dogs has developed some sort of ocular ulcer, which my dog sitter now needs to add eye drops to. I wonder if I should pay her more?

And with all of that.... I cannot wait to play in SAB and ride Haunted Mansion ten times! :cool1:

Then they probably met my DD Nicole (Nicki). She has met many fun people this trip playing volleyball in the pool.

Sitting at SAB one more time. More time for thoughts on our trip.

Staff-
What can I say this trip? The staff has been excellent. Of course there was Teena, who greeted us with a hug the second day we were here (that made up for the less than stellar lack of a welcome home upon arrival by the guard).we made plans for dinner, which we did last night. It was nice to talk to her in a non-work setting. What a great evening. Then there was Rocky one of the servers at the pool on Tuesday...we only saw her from afar on Saturday. Another hug by a cast member. Is there any wonder this feels like home? Then on her days off Matt took great care of us as well. This was our first interaction with him but once again a great experience. And we had many of our own snacks and beverages with us at the pool so we didn't utilize the servers a lot but when we did they were great, The pool staff in general was terrific. I did get asked any number of times at the pool by staff about my wine and champagne plastic glasses but once they realized they were plastic, I got a friendly smile and an appreciative thank you for being careful. One exception, who will go unnamed told me 7 different times that I wasn't allowed to have glass in the pool area, three times in one day. After the 5th time I actually said yes, you told me that already 5 times. Can you believe I got the same comment again today and the staff member actually had to touch the glass again!!! Really??? Most of the staff remembers them from the many times we have been here before so this was a little crazy. Housekeeping was fine. We never saw them but never had any issues either. Didn't have to contact a manager but did run into Jeff in the villas yesterday. He asked me about our stay and we chatted for a while. Went for dinner and when we came back later there was a surprise waiting for us. Will try to post a picture later if Couchy is around to show me how.

If you ship UPS or FedEx to a Disney Resort which has a convention center, such as the Yacht Club & Beach Club, your package is delivered to the convention center. The company which runs the convention centers charges a fee to retrieve your package. The fee is based on the weight of the package. The last time I did this was March 2012.
Package retrieval fee:
Up to 5 pounds: $3
5-20 pounds: $5
above 20 pounds: $10

You can walk over to the Convention Center to pick up the package yourself. Or you can call over and ask them to deliver it to your room. I don't have the phone number; if you want to go this route, ask about it when you check in. I don't think Bell Services does the delivery; I think the Convention Center has its own assigned employees who do the deliveries.

If you ship USPS, my understanding is that your package will be delivered to a central Disney delivery location before it is taken to the hotel, so you need to leave extra time for that. However, my understanding is that it will be taken to the hotel, not to the Convention Center.

I am thinking about shipping some Christmas gifts for our stay. I have no problem using USPS. Does anyone know how much extra time to add for the transport between the central location and the resort. I am thinking about doing overnight delivery with UPS or Fedex and just paying the fees. I'm trying to surprise my kids who will be in a separate room. What I was hoping for was to send the overnight on the 22nd to arrive the 23rd and then have it delivered to my room either on the 23rd or the 24th from the convention center.

Anyone with first hand info on shipping to the resort recently?

OMG - have a MAGICAL trip! I have not doubts it will be one for the books!

Thanks! I'm in the worst part of waiting period right now. Plans are all made and all I can do is wait. :(. Feels like it will never get here!
