"I Wanna See My Castle!" October 2013 TR *COMPLETE* **NEW TR LINK!!** 7/3

I literally spent the last few days reading (FINALLY!) through your whole trip report! Paxton is adorable and I love all the pictures! Can't wait to hear about the end of your trip and the one you just took! :goodvibes

Aww, thanks so much! I'm glad you are enjoying it, and I'm really hoping I can finish it up soon and get started on May. :goodvibes

Great pics at ‘Ohana.
Nice pics at Epcot.
How dare you ruin her family pic. LOL.
Nice you got to see Pocahontas. I will miss Camp Minnie/Mickey but I am one of the ones really excited for Avatarland.
LOL. He hugged the stroller and said happy birthday. That is funny.
I am so jealous over your characterpalooza. I have yet to see one.
Sorry the day ended on a bad note but otherwise it seemed like a great day.
I am all caught up again.

Thanks!

I'm really not sure what I was thinking, of course everyone should expect to not EVER have a stranger in any of their Disney World vacation photos!!!

Ehh, I just can't get myself excited about Avatar coming to AK. Hopefully whatever Disney comes up with will help me change my mind.

I hope you get to fit in Characterpalooza on an upcoming trip. It's so fun!

Day 9: Wednesday October 30th

Oh no! It was finally here, the long-dreaded Last Disney Day. Our alarms were set for 7 am so DH and I could get up and finish packing (If I didn't have so many pictures to share of our last day, there would definitely be a long string of sad faced smilies right about here!). We got DS up and ready, checked the unit to make sure we had everything, and left Bonnet Creek for the last time at 8:15 am.

We were running a bit behind our planned schedule, so we hurried to the TTC and had to hustle to get to the monorail that was waiting at the station. But I did manage to get a couple of pics on our fast walk. For some reason, I never take these kinds of pictures on day 1 because I'm too excited and just want to get to the park. But on the last day, I feel like I need to remember every single thing we did and suddenly I NEED to take pictures of silly things!

We made it onto the waiting monorail and soon we were on our way to the Magic Kingdom.

Of course, this is BEFORE we were on our way since that door is clearly open. lol Safety first!

On our monorail ride over, something really exciting and new happened, but we didn't have the camera out quick enough to take pictures of it. We passed right by the train full of characters puffing it's way towards the Main Street station for the opening show! They were all waving at us, and DS was just in heaven waving back! Of course, you can imagine that we made it to the plaza JUST in time for the opening show, since we were riding beside the train!

And then we were making our way into the park! I just LOVE all of the CM's lined up on the sides of Main Street waving at the guests entering with their Mickey gloves on.

I'm guessing from that photo that we went to New Fantasyland by way of the Castle since DH got that cool perspective shot of Main Street behind us. I had one destination in mind that morning, and that was Ariel's Grotto! We had missed meeting her on our previous trip and her page remains empty in his first autograph book, so I didn't want to have the same blank space twice!

DS checking out his autograph book while we waited

We had a very short wait first thing in the morning, so soon enough, we were meeting Ariel! Wait, I should probably take back that ! because she was the absolute worst face character we have ever met. She told DS to swim on over for a picture, then didn't say another word to him. She signed his book, posed for pictures, and very literally shooed him along to get the next child in.

I forgot to tell you, I definitely got a good laugh about the stroller having a birthday!

Great Characterpalooza! It was a highlight of our May 2013 trip but we didn’t end up going this year. Hopefully in December if it isn’t on hiatus. I love the pictures! I love the pictures with Sofia. I sadly do not know who she is though other than from Disney Jr. We don’t have cable anymore so my poor little Gavin is going to be out of the loop too. I think Jake might be on Netflix though so maybe there is hope. I’m glad DH made it in time with the PP card and his camera!

LMA was a one time thing for us. I would definitely go see it again though if Gavin wanted to see it. Especially since Lightening McQueen has been added, I’m sure that was a great touch. It’s not that we didn’t enjoy it, but it just seems like the 2 show times are inconvenient and you have to get there early and then it’s a huge crowd to get out. I’m glad Paxton loved it!
What a dash to ToT! I’m glad they let you use your FP. Wow and bonus getting through the RnRC SR line so quickly!

Sorry DH wasn’t feeling well and your night did not end perfectly. I love the pictures he took though!

Day 9 Continued: Wednesday October 30th

DS was requesting It's A Small World, so we headed there next. As we walked up, there were CMs standing outside, so I thought maybe we'd be the first family of the day riding again like we were on our previous trip. But unfortunately, they were there to tell us the ride was not open yet. According to Kenny the Pirate, Peter Pan's meet & greet should be starting soon, though, so I took DS to wait in line there while DH captured even more photos of the Tangled restrooms.

While DH was seeing all of that beautifulness through his camera lens, DS was getting annoyed with me for making him stand in line for something right across from It's a Small World what that's what he really wanted to be doing.

09-032 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

But then, we spotted them!

09-033 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

There were only a couple of people ahead of us, so soon enough, it was DS's turn to meet his favorite character at the moment and tell him all about how we dressed up like Peter, Tink & Michael at MNSSHP.

After a great meet with Peter & Wendy, we headed over to ride the teacups and hopefully get DS's mind off of Small World, because he was still saying that was all he wanted to ride. Of course, that time of the morning there was absolutely no line so we got onto the next rotation and chose our cup!

As soon as we came off of the ride, we saw Alice & the White Rabbit out without a long line, so we joined in at the end. When we were down to one group in front of us, the White Rabbit went in for a break, and I mentally freaked out a little bit because, again, he had his own space in the book and I didn't want it to end up blank!! The little girl ahead of us met Alice, and I kept watching for WR to come back. When the little girl started wrapping up, I turned to the dad and daughter behind us and asked if they minded meeting only Alice so we could wait for WR to come out and if they would like to go ahead of us. The dad was thrilled to have any reason to get out of that line sooner, so he went ahead with his daughter. But then, they were done and WR STILL wasn't out, so we just went ahead to meet Alice. She was absolutely adorable and gave DS the biggest and longest hug EVER.

Then she noticed his shirt, which was one we had gotten the year before in Disneyland that is just covered in a multitude of characters, and they started discussing all of the characters they could find.

wow Ariel looks so grumpy in the picture where she is signing his book. Sorry you did not get a great character interaction! Bummer about IASW not being open yet, hopefully meeting his favorite character and riding the tea cups made up for it! I hope you did end up seeing the white rabbit after all.

After another fun and successful meet & greet, the roar of the engines at the nearby Tomorroland Speedway could not be ignored, so DS requested that we go there next. The line was posted at 20 minutes, but luckily we only ended up waiting 10.

Intently choosing which car he wants

We decided to all 3 cram into one car again, which is always a feat of amazingness considering how much stuff we carry and how tiny those cars are!

09-061 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

As smelly, slow, and herky-jerky as this attraction is, I can't help but enjoy the views I get as we bump all over that track at a thrilling 7 mph. Just take a big, deep breath in...can't you smell the rubber & exhaust fumes right now?

One more family selfie

After getting off of the Speedway, we stopped for a restroom break and spotted Push the Trashcan when we came out! Kind of sad that we didn't realize then that it would be our very last chance to see him. I would have tried harder to get DS to go up and interact with him!

09-071 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

At that point, we realized it was now our last day and we had hardly done any shopping whatsoever, so we stopped inside the little shop to look around. We ended up getting a few things for DS but didn't see much for ourselves. We got him a toy Disney bus, a 4 pack of ride vehicles that had an engine from BTMR, a rocket ship from Mission:SPACE, a car from Test Track, and a car from RnRC. All stuff he can't ride, but he loved it! And we also got him a light up spinning Lightning McQueen since he had loved those so much at the barbershop. We gave him the choice between Lightning and Dusty, and he went with his old favorite instead of the new obsession.

09-072 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We decided to split up, because there was another attraction I had not had the time to do just yet, and I simply couldn't put it off any longer, because it was our last day and my last opportunity to ride it! I'm not going to have enough picture allowance to get much farther than that, but if you know my love for this ride, you know where I was headed! So I'll leave you with this gorgeous scenery I saw as I made my way to the other side of the park.

UP NEXT: More of our Farewell Day

And I guess that's the reason I need to ride the speedway - to see the park from a different perspective. I've seen it from all the others. It's great that all three of you can fit into a car together.

Poor Paxton - all he wanted to do was IASW and he was denied. :rotfl2: Poor kid.

I'll tell you - he sure knows how to work a character meet n greet. I haven't seen one yet where he looks like he is having another less than a blast. :thumbsup2

Great Tangled BR pictures! Really neat perspective in some of those shots.

Just changed my computer background to that second castle picture because WOW it is gorgeous!!!

You know, I've had some pretty bad meets with Ariel. So many people love her but I haven't really had a good experience so I always wonder what I'm missing. I feel like sometimes it's part of her character to be a little bratty...but I dunno. It's weird.

Such beautiful pictures of the Rapunzel bathrooms. Heart eyes.

YES White Rabbit! Glad you had such a great meet with both.

Before I read too much into your character interaction, I happened to look down at the picture of Ariel signing the autograph book and thought, "dang, that girl looks irritated!" Seemed like there was a million places that chick would rather have been. Sorry to hear it was not a great experience.

Poor Paxton, not being able to go on Small World. Good job on your part for keeping him distracted with Peter Pan and teacups and cars. :thumbsup2

The impromptu stroller birthday was one of the funniest moments of the trip! Paxton is such a little comedian.

Characterpalooza has become a must-do for us! We got so lucky to be able to do it twice in October and that our second one was SO awesome! Definitely one of our favorite things to do when we are in WDW.

We just recently got Disney Jr the Channel on our satellite and it opened up a whole bunch of new episodes and movies on the app on the iPad. Now DS does most of his watching on the iPad app, and he loves watching Sofia! Despite my best efforts, he is totally addicted to TV, but I do set a limit in the evening when he gets home from daycare. He tends to go through phases of what he likes, and he had a Sofia phase for awhile, but right now it's Sheriff Callie and this movie that premieres later this week but has been on the app for awhile called Lucky Duck.

Besides the show being boring after you've seen it more than once, you are totally right about the showtimes being inconvenient. That's another reason we have never tried to work it into our plans. But it just worked out this time that we were getting back to the park earlier than usual for Characterpalooza, so we didn't really have an excuse to keep it from him any longer!

wow Ariel looks so grumpy in the picture where she is signing his book. Sorry you did not get a great character interaction! Bummer about IASW not being open yet, hopefully meeting his favorite character and riding the tea cups made up for it! I hope you did end up seeing the white rabbit after all.

It was terrible! Ariel is one of my favorites, so that made it even more disappointing for me. It seemed like she was in a rush to keep the line moving or something. Or she thought DS wasn't worth talking to much since he's a little boy and not a princess-obsessed little girl. I didn't let it get me too down because the rest of our character interactions were so amazing.

I forget when we went back to check, but it still wasn't open and Paxton was in tears so we had to hurry away. It might have been before going to Mad Tea Party. The CMs felt so bad!

Great Tangled BR pictures! Really neat perspective in some of those shots.

The views are pretty much the only good thing about the Speedway. :rotfl: The smells and the sitting and waiting to unload are such a drag!

Yeah, he was really upset about it too. I didn't mark in my notes when it was, but he was sobbing at one point that it wasn't open. He definitely loves that ride!

I didn't think we would ever be such avid character fans, but he just loves meeting every single one, even if he has no clue who they are or what they are from!

I love this set of Tangled photos that DH took too!

Just changed my computer background to that second castle picture because WOW it is gorgeous!!!

YES White Rabbit! Glad you had such a great meet with both.

Wow, that's so awesome! It is a pretty amazing picture, especially compared to the crappy one I took right before it.

I have seen a lot of really great interactions with Ariel so I was looking forward to this meet and it was a huge letdown. Oh well, at least we got her autograph in the book.

It's so funny that I knew just what you meant when I read "Heart Eyes"! lol

It was such perfect timing and made me SO happy that White Rabbit came out just in time!!

:thumbsup2

She definitely didn't have the happiest of attitudes, that's for sure! Not sure what her deal was, but I'll take one crappy character meeting out of the dozens of amazing ones we had. They can't all be so wonderful, I guess! Once in awhile, you'll come across a total dud.

Thankfully there is plenty in Fantasyland to make him happy, because he was actually really devastated about IASW not being open that morning!

Oh I love the walk into the TTC so these first pictures are awesome!!

That is something I'd like to attempt. Riding on the Monorail as the train is rolling in. That is cool.

Oooh that's a bit early to be rushing through guests there Ariel. Very strange.

I do like the character spots where you get to see the characters arrive like Pan and Wendy. I think it adds a little something.

Score on Rabbit returning. Glad the strategy paid off.

Wow, Ariel, don't go above and beyond.

Aww boo that the White Rabbit wasn't out for you to picture, but good for Alice being so sweet.

Oh yes, the smell of the Tomorrowland Speedway. Nothing quite like it ;)

Magic Kingdom looks beautiful at that time in the morning! Shame about the Ariel meet and greet, but the other character meets looked fantastic :goodvibes I've only been on the Speedway once but really should try it again :thumbsup2

Hi! popcorn::

Just found your TR as I was searching for more TR's to read and get my fix, and I basically spent all of yesterday reading THE ENTIRE THING!

So I am all caught up and thoroughly enjoying your adventures! We are going late Sept-Oct this year and that's what attracted me to your latest TR, and I am certain I will wind up checking out some of your past ones as well! :rotfl:

Anyway, I LOVE it all! You have such a cute little man, there, and I love seeing all the fun you had. You seem to be doing many things we are planning this trip, so thank you! I love reading about the new stuff we get to try this time!

Can't wait to read more! :hyper:

I love your trip reports! I also have a 3 year old, and reading your trip reports gave me confidence about taking him to WDW (he has been twice so far), and have given me lots of ideas for our next trip. I am soooooo making an autograph book for next time!

How awesome that you passed the welcome show characters!

Ugh that really does sound like terrible interaction with Ariel :(

What great interaction with Alice, though! And yay for White Rabbit popping back in.

Love how Paxton's t-shirt became the key stalling factor with Alice that led to finally meeting up with the White Rabbit. :rotfl:

I love Alice and Wendy. Such photogenic characters. Oddly enough, I don't think my kids have actually met either of them in person.

Ahh, we always take in the fumes at the Speedway at least once for every trip. ;)
