(CLOSED) Disney's BOARDWALK INN and VILLAS INFORMATION THREAD

Ok all...need help. We are staying in a Studio at the BWV for the 1st time in August. Very excited. Does anyone have a great area to request ? (quiet pool, main pool, courtyard, etc) ...when we were just there last week, we walked around the Inn side and I noticed ALOT of trees blocking many rooms views. Kinda disturbing. Our luck we would be on the 2nd or 3rd floor with a tree staring us right in the face.

Thanks

What view category did you book, standard, garden, Boardwalk???

Back from a wonderful spring break and now it's time to think about WDW! Thank you to all who answer everyone's questions!

A horseback ride sounds like fun. I hope you are enjoying your vacation.:goodvibes
Thank you, we did have a wonderful spring break, even though it snowed on Day 3:upsidedow

I don't know much, because the cast members don't really know how much is getting done. The lounge will probably just get a soft makeover, nothing big like originally planned. The rooms are being done over as are the bathrooms.

The guests are not the only ones that are disappointed. The cast knows that there are major complaints about things there, but the powers that be don't seem to have the money to do the upgrades originally planned. We will just have to see what the final outcome is.

I will say I will never stay in a first floor room again!! The musty smells was horrible.
That's interesting. Thank you for the lounge update. Do you think the smells were from the air conditioning? Maybe it needed a new filter or was the smell pervasive all over?

I am thinking of changing to a CL room for our June stay. The timing of our stay would coincide with the re-opening of the newly rehabbed lounge and CL rooms. With the rehab going on while we're there, this would guarantee us to be in a newly rehabbed room. I don't know yet though if I can change at this point with our military rate, but I'm very tempted to try.

We'll be there April 30-May 7. One bedroom but first time with a standard view. Retired now and trying to optimize our points! Hoping for the best! :thumbsup2
Yippee! I'll add your dates to the Bulletin.

Have to share. Just sent a deposit to buy 25 points @ DVC!!!! Our first DVC points. So excited.
Congratulations and welcome to the thread and DVC!

BWV, 1 bdrm 10/2/to 10/7 first time for F&W
I'll log your dates and congratulations on booking.

We are going June 6-15..first time at BWI but very excited!!
You'll be there about a week before us. Happy planning!

Love this board. Such great information. Gearing up for my first visit to the BWV for a quick Father- Son Star Wars Weekend trip May 30th - June 1st. Looking forwarding to spending time at this resort after reading everything I have read. Thanks for sharing the information everyone. Have a Magical Day!
Welcome to the BWI/BWV thread! I'll put your dates in the BoardWalk Bulletin in Post 1:darth:

We are less than 60 days away!! So excited. I was able to do on-line check-in on Wednesday. We are booked at BWI standard view. When I was able to request room options, it gave me a choice of Boardwalk View. I also chose 5th floor. I remember Boardwalk View being a "request option" last year but we overlooked the front entrance of the BW. I guess we will see what happens this year :)

Our dates are 6/15-6/25.

We booked Standard Studio...thats all that was available

A standard studio is going to have a view of the parking lot. If you ask to be close to the elevators, you're apt to have noise and a close view of the entrance to the hotel. If you ask to be far away from the elevators, the view of the parking lot is apt to be obscured by trees. You should not have a view of any pool or the Boardwalk itself as those are separate categories from Standard view. (I usually ask to be far from the elevators and get a view of the grassy area with the fountain just before the parking area. I can usually see the busses stopping to pick people up to take them to the parks, and I can see people walking along the sidewalk to their cars. But there are trees mostly obscuring the parked cars themselves.)

Unfortunately, OCI room location request options are sometimes not even applicable to your specific booking. Standard View bookings include all views at BWI, except for a BWV. If you do have a SV preference, such as "Epcot" or "Garden View" then make sure it is in your reservation by calling the WDTC and having it added.

Hello everyone and Happy Saturday :wave2:

Have a question regarding 4th floor balconies for STD CL rooms :)

Since the 4th floor isn't the top floor, has anyone had issues with noise coming from rooms on the 5th floor or issues like things falling down onto their 4th floor balcony, from a 5th floor balcony?

We are light sleepers and typically stay on the top floor... wanted to make sure, not being on the top floor wouldn't be an issue :scratchin

Thanks much :goodvibes

No, we've never had anything like that happen. BWI CL has always been a very nice, relaxing place for us to enjoy a vacation. Hope you have a lovely stay! :goodvibes

We were just there two weeks ago and loved it ! We were in deluxe studio room pool view room 4018 and loved it !! We felt in a whole the entire resort was so quiet and relaxed! We usually stay at value resorts w lots of kids and families so staying here was a big change ! Quiet, couples not a ton of kids or noise atleast that we noticed ! We have a 5 yr old so kids and noise don't bother us but it was so quiet and nice we loved it !!! We spent more time at the resort then we usually do I wanna go back :)

As much as I'd like a Boardwalk View, I will be most happy with the 5th floor. I think I will call and request the Epcot view but when I did that last year the CM laughed at me. I knew she had no clue because I had seen the pictures in this thread. Thanks for the help!!

our 1st stay at BWV, standard studio our view wasn't bad at all, I was disappointed with ground floor, as I wanted a balcony, not a patio.
but our romm was almost exactly between the doorway to the villas pool and the doorway to the Luna pool. and there was a huge expanse of grass between our pation and the driveway to approach the lobby. yes we could see the bus stop a ways away, but it was actually very quiet. not a "parking lot" view at all.

We started our Disney vacations at the the value resorts and then a stay at one of the moderates (CBR). It was that trip that we finally even thought about relaxing at the resorts. Then, after we bought into DVC, we really have taken the time to plan resort days. We really enjoy BWV as it allows that time to relax, along with a short walk to the entertainment of the Boardwalk as well as two theme parks.

This was/is a concern for us as well so I completely appreciate your question. We always request a top floor or we stay CL where the CL is the top floor. We prefer not having guests above us or even next door, so we always request to not have a connecting door, too.

A couple of years ago we stayed CL at BWI and I requested a BWV and to not have a connecting door. Both my requests were met, which I greatly appreciated. However, we were in one of the rooms that is outside of the Innkeeper's Club door. There is a little alcove that has a few room doors in it and it is just outside where everyone must enter to gain access to the rest of the CL rooms, the check-in desk and the lounge.

Room 4261 has an amazing view of Crescent Lake and the BW and an extra large balcony. It's right above and to the right of the Flying Fish sign:

We never heard anyone above us, but we constantly heard guests entering the Innkeeper's Club door that was just a few steps from our door. It is a keyed access door so guests would have to stop to gain entry and we could hear guests much of the time. Sometimes the door would remain open and you could hear the CMs chatting with the guests at the desk.

Also, this room has an extra window above the sofa. It's a wonderful view, but the window allowed all the BW Busker noise in and the buzzing all night of the Flying Fish sign and the lights of the Flying Fish sign would stay on all night. It also leaked and rain water came in when we had a storm.

I've hated having to criticize this room because the view is spectacular, the balcony is huge and all of my requests were met, which I greatly appreciated. But, it was a noisy room, but not from any guests above or next door to us.

I experienced the same answer when I recently booked a SV and asked for an "Epcot View." The important thing is that the Room Assignor will know exactly what you mean.

Welcome back.
Thank you. Hmmm, where's your ticker:confused3

Hi AirGoofy :wave2:

Thanks much for responding :thumbsup2

I hear ya ::yes:: for years, we have toured the parks commando style... our first deluxe stay was earlier this year and during that stay we also toured the parks commando style, so much so until we missed out on enjoying a fabulous resort:sad: DD was the one who brought it to our attention saying how much she wished we would have relaxed a bit more... we were like :faint: our old selves are tickled pink, to be able to relax and take it easy this time around...we're staying longer and have planned several resort days in between park days... we've never been to the Boardwalk and are looking forward to it :goodvibes

Hi WDWKOOK :wave2:

Thanks much for responding :cool1:

So nice to know I'm not alone ;) Love the tip regarding the request for not having a connecting door... genius! ::yes:: I love BWI and really want to experience CL there, however, that noisy/leaky room will be on my "check in room no thank you list" :) I am glad to hear there was no noise from guests above nor next door... that was good to hear :thumbsup2

Thanks for your review of the rooms. We still haven't done a Boardwalk view. Maybe one of these years.

As for the ticker, I don't even know if I gave you dates to add. We'll be at BWV Oct 4-10 if you will please add me. We really enjoyed the Beach Club this trip, especially SAB. However, DW and I were both homesick for the BWV. We waited for lunch at the bakery (about 15 minutes before the change over). While we waited on a bench overlooking the green space and Boardwalk, we realized how much we missed it there.

There's a commando thread out there if you want to join us over there as well.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2503355

We still do the parks commando on those park days, but the resorts are just terrific. We've walked down to fantasia for the mini golf before, but there are even more fun and free stuff right at the resorts. Most know about the pool games and the evening Boardwalk entertainment. I also read about the "Ballyhoo Tour" there Wed thru Sat. I have never done it before and am going to try it this trip.

We stayed at Kidani on our trip a few weeks ago, and while we loved looking at the animals right from our balcony, we went to Yachtman's for dinner one night, and sat outside for a bit since we were early, and we looked across at the Boardwalk, and both agreed we just like staying there more. It's definitely our favorite.

Is the Ballyhoo Tour the tour of the BW items and facilities? I remember when they started it as a test, is it fully permanent now? We'll be there in December so you'll be able to test drive it before us. :thumbsup2

HI! We are thinking of staying at the Boardwalk for the first time in a standard view. Is it possible to see the Epcot fireworks in this type of room and what kind of room should I request to achieve this? Thanks in advance!
