Well, "newer" as in it was put in during the refurb in the late 90s. Imageworks used to be upstairs and to me (although fond memories could be blurring my memory of it) it seemed like there were more things to do. It was definitely not as high tech as the things they have there now, but there was a rainbow light tunnel you walked through and some things to play with that really do take some imagination. You weren't just playing instruments by waving your hands or standing on a piece of carpet.
You know what happens when you assume, right?
you crack me up with your blurry photos and story. Too cute. And that cucumber margarita does sound refreshing. Bartender did good
I am so far behind with everyone's TRs it's not even funny but I am still here honest!!
Love reading about the F&W offerings
I swear, just about every time we are at Epcot...it rains!
I cannot wait to do the F&W Festival!!
DH's face!
Ahh that picture of the 3 of you is so stinkin' adorable!
Hi Lesha,
Glad to see you didn't let a bit of drizzle scuppe your food and wine plans
Everything you picked looks great, am putting them on my list for October....
Love the PP pics, they are fabulous!
you guys are doing great getting around the World ... and great use of "Great Googlie Mooglie" .... lok, cleraly I need to come up with another word besides "great"
You are truly a family after our own hearts - what with all the power drinking of adult beverages
Those are amazing Character Spot pics! I especially love the ones with just Calvin and Mickey - though the ones were Goofy came over are great too.
That would be great if the Mexican It's a Small World became a booze cruise after like 10pm or something .... actually, would be even better if that was possible for the original It's a Small World
Nice beer selections!
Oh yes - you will LOVE the Jalapeño rita. I'm definitely getting one next trip. I was having gastritis issues in October, so I refrained (just drank a ton of wine instead). But now I think I'm ready!
We had the kimchi dog and I wanted to try that blueberry wine, or whatever berry it was, but I think I just filled up somewhere else. Didn't want to be a two fisted drinker.
That rain!!!!!! OMG! That is a ridiculous downpour. You got great pictures of it. I can almost imagine being in the thick of it.
But you dried quickly and got some great family shots.
Nice choices on all your F&W selections.
You guys were at F&W the same day we were, but when you all were up at the cheese booth, we were back by Japan. That day was horrible! We tried to brave the rain a couple of times but we still missed a bunch of booths I wanted to hit.
It looks like you guys still managed to have a great time though!
Seriously missing Food & Wine now! Except for the downpours, of course.
Love your DH's rain face!
Beautiful family pictures!
Gotta love those crazy Florida rainstorms. But what I wouldn't give to be in one of them right now. Wind chills have been in the negatives the past few days and going to stay that way for a few more. Every winter I wonder why I live in NJ...
Anyway, thanks for the super detailed report! I'm enjoying it so much. I would love to try F&W one year. Then I wonder how I could choose to be a teacher when it's so limiting on when I can visit WDW. Clearly I need to pick up and move to Florida and find a new career!
I know you guys are having a great F&W, but what I don't understand is why you have only picked out one of the offerings at each booth? There are three of you do you not like the other offerings or are you ust trying to pace yourselves?
I forgot to add, your family looks so cute in those pitiless pictures. You look positively radiant in your updo. How you can always look so beautiful is a secret I never mastered.
Love the PP picture of the family. That's gorgeous!
That's a fantastic number of F&W snacks you're getting through. Looking forward to more.
that rain!
Very cute family photos.
Those cheese selections sound ahhhhhmazing.
Great update!
hmmmm a cucumber margarita - that sounds good. I tried the avocado for the first time last summer and it was just ok. I think I need to expand my margarita horizons.
I'm not a Figment/Journey into Imagination fan but I do like Dr. Nigel Channing so I guess it's a wash. We rather enjoyed the silly conductor interactive booth in Imageworks. Cute photo of Calvin in the cup with Mickey and pals.
Oh my that rain! The photo of your DH with the beers peering up seems to say, please don't rain on my brew! The potato crunchies on the grilled lamb look like someone dumped the remnants of the Lays potato chips on the meat. It looks delicious though. Seriously.
With that little ones Spanish book Calvin can learn to say to you, mi madre es bastante.
Oh my gosh, your food photos are making me so hungry! And I just had dinner!
The photos of you, DH, and DS are some of the best I've seen yet. I love how Calvin is smiling in all of them
And a Vegas side note:
All the rooms at Venetian and Palazzo are suites. Also, the two hotels are connected and you would have access to the amenities at both properties. My husband worked at the Bellagio for five years, at which point he left to open the Palazzo and has been with the company ever since. That being said, if you have specific questions about things at the Venetian-Palazzo or at the Bellagio, I will ask him and he will most likely know or can find out for you.
As far as location is concerned, I wouldn't let that be your decided factor. Yes, Bellagio is in the middle of the strip, but nothing on the strip is inconvenient or too far away. Especially as someone who goes to Disney and walks all over the parks all day long, you should be fine regardless of where you stay. The sidewalks are massive and you can easily walk from one end to the other and back in a day. I used to do it every Friday night with my dad when I was in high school. It takes a couple hours, but you're having fun while you do it and you're working off your yardstick tall margarita or other drink of choice that you're sucking down as you walk. (Did you know we don't have any laws prohibiting open containers of alcohol in the 'Strip Corridor'?) If you become tired of walking, or get too drunk to continue walking, in addition to taxis and buses that are constantly running and dedicated to the strip, there are other ways to get around. We have a Monorail that runs from the MGM Grand to the Las Vegas Convention Center, with stops in between at other hotels on that side of the street. On the other side of the street, there is a tram that runs between Treasure Island and the Mirage, there's another tram that runs from the Bellagio, to City Center, and then to the Monte Carlo, and then there is a tram that runs from the Excalibur, to the Luxor, and then to Mandalay Bay. The trams are all free, there is a small charge for the monorail, the bus is very cheap, and the taxis, while the rates are very high, the distances aren't very long, so they don't wind up being very expensive unless you get stuck in traffic.
And so concludes your lesson on transportation around the Las Vegas Strip. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. And if you think of any questions, I'll gladly look into them for you! Feel free to PM if you prefer.
