Food and Wine? Sounds Divine! An October TR - 12/2 A PTR Link!

:rotfl: you crack me up with your blurry photos and story. Too cute. And that cucumber margarita does sound refreshing. Bartender did good :thumbsup2

Well, "newer" as in it was put in during the refurb in the late 90s. Imageworks used to be upstairs and to me (although fond memories could be blurring my memory of it) it seemed like there were more things to do. It was definitely not as high tech as the things they have there now, but there was a rainbow light tunnel you walked through and some things to play with that really do take some imagination. You weren't just playing instruments by waving your hands or standing on a piece of carpet. :rotfl2:

Okay, well I think they need to have another refurb pronto. They could really do a lot more with that space and draw more people over to that area.

You know what happens when you assume, right? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2::rotfl:

Too true! :rotfl2: Geez, I always give out this piece of advice, but I couldn't take it myself :rotfl:

:rotfl: you crack me up with your blurry photos and story. Too cute. And that cucumber margarita does sound refreshing. Bartender did good :thumbsup2

Get ready for some more blurry photos :headache::lmao:

It was time to keep moving forward and check out more F&W booths. Next stop was South Korea, but I needed a picture of China. I always take photos of this particular pavilion. It’s just so gorgeous!

Yay!

Wanted to try the Kimichi Dog with Spicy Mustard Sauce

Very tasty with a nice, spicy kick to it. DH really enjoyed it!

Let’s keep it moving. On to Africa we went

Decided on the Berbere-style Beef with Onions, Jalepenos, Tomato, Okra and Pap (←polenta-ish)

The recommended pairing was the red wine, but it was getting humid so I went with the Chenin Blanc and it was absolutely refreshing. We ended up buying a second one.

And as soon as we got this stamp,

we IMMEDIATELY ran for cover!

Those poor CM’s!

The wind started picking up at one point and we had slanted rain for a bit and everyone underneath the souvenir tent had to face inward to protect themselves. Had it just been DH and I, we would have pushed on, like this brave couple.

Luckily for us, we had food and drink to sustain us for that 8 minutes. But after our sustenance ran dry we started getting ‘tent fever’. It was just a light drizzle at that point and thought it would be fine to go out in search of some cheese and beer, making our way over to Germany.

It was still sprinkling but these would help wipe the somberness (I’m unable to interpret his face, so this is the best I got!:lmao:) off our faces

A Radeberger Pilsner for DH and a Warsteiner Premium Dunkel for me.

Over at the Cheese Booth, we went with both offerings of the Almond Crusted Blue Cheese Souffle with Fig Jam and the Artisan Cheese Selection – Beecher’s Flagship Reserve served with Honey, La Bonne Vie Triple Crème Brie served with Apricot Jam, Wyngaard Goats Gouda with Craisin Bread

Before our trip, I had heard varying views on the tart so wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it, but it was actually very good! And surprisingly, DM is the one who finished it off! I’d for sure think she wouldn’t enjoy it at all but she had thought about ordering another one but I reminded her we needed to find another booth. The cheese selection was fantastic! And the accompaniments were perfect. We were very satisfied with the Cheese booth.

After our yummy cheese, we headed towards Germany, but spotted a PP photographer so took the opportunity to grab a photo in between eating

I am so far behind with everyone's TRs it's not even funny but I am still here honest!!
Love reading about the F&W offerings :)

I swear, just about every time we are at Epcot...it rains!

I cannot wait to do the F&W Festival!!

:lmao: DH's face!

Ahh that picture of the 3 of you is so stinkin' adorable!

Hi Lesha,

Glad to see you didn't let a bit of drizzle scuppe your food and wine plans :)

Everything you picked looks great, am putting them on my list for October....

Love the PP pics, they are fabulous!

you guys are doing great getting around the World ... and great use of "Great Googlie Mooglie" .... lok, cleraly I need to come up with another word besides "great" :rotfl:

You are truly a family after our own hearts - what with all the power drinking of adult beverages ;)

Those are amazing Character Spot pics! I especially love the ones with just Calvin and Mickey - though the ones were Goofy came over are great too.

That would be great if the Mexican It's a Small World became a booze cruise after like 10pm or something .... actually, would be even better if that was possible for the original It's a Small World :thumbsup2

Nice beer selections!

Oh yes - you will LOVE the Jalapeño rita. I'm definitely getting one next trip. I was having gastritis issues in October, so I refrained (just drank a ton of wine instead). But now I think I'm ready! :thumbsup2

We had the kimchi dog and I wanted to try that blueberry wine, or whatever berry it was, but I think I just filled up somewhere else. Didn't want to be a two fisted drinker. :rotfl2:

That rain!!!!!! OMG! That is a ridiculous downpour. You got great pictures of it. I can almost imagine being in the thick of it.

But you dried quickly and got some great family shots.

Nice choices on all your F&W selections.

You guys were at F&W the same day we were, but when you all were up at the cheese booth, we were back by Japan. :rotfl2: That day was horrible! We tried to brave the rain a couple of times but we still missed a bunch of booths I wanted to hit.

It looks like you guys still managed to have a great time though!

Seriously missing Food & Wine now! Except for the downpours, of course.

Love your DH's rain face! :lmao:

Beautiful family pictures!

Gotta love those crazy Florida rainstorms. But what I wouldn't give to be in one of them right now. Wind chills have been in the negatives the past few days and going to stay that way for a few more. Every winter I wonder why I live in NJ...

Anyway, thanks for the super detailed report! I'm enjoying it so much. I would love to try F&W one year. Then I wonder how I could choose to be a teacher when it's so limiting on when I can visit WDW. Clearly I need to pick up and move to Florida and find a new career! :rotfl2:

I know you guys are having a great F&W, but what I don't understand is why you have only picked out one of the offerings at each booth? :confused3 There are three of you do you not like the other offerings or are you ust trying to pace yourselves?

I forgot to add, your family looks so cute in those photopass pictures. You look positively radiant in your updo. How you can always look so beautiful is a secret I never mastered.

Love the PP picture of the family. That's gorgeous!

That's a fantastic number of F&W snacks you're getting through. Looking forward to more.

hmmmm a cucumber margarita - that sounds good. I tried the avocado for the first time last summer and it was just ok. I think I need to expand my margarita horizons. :)

I'm not a Figment/Journey into Imagination fan but I do like Dr. Nigel Channing so I guess it's a wash. We rather enjoyed the silly conductor interactive booth in Imageworks. Cute photo of Calvin in the cup with Mickey and pals.

Oh my that rain! The photo of your DH with the beers peering up seems to say, please don't rain on my brew! The potato crunchies on the grilled lamb look like someone dumped the remnants of the Lays potato chips on the meat. It looks delicious though. Seriously.

With that little ones Spanish book Calvin can learn to say to you, mi madre es bastante. :goodvibes

Oh my gosh, your food photos are making me so hungry! And I just had dinner!

The photos of you, DH, and DS are some of the best I've seen yet. I love how Calvin is smiling in all of them

And a Vegas side note:
All the rooms at Venetian and Palazzo are suites. Also, the two hotels are connected and you would have access to the amenities at both properties. My husband worked at the Bellagio for five years, at which point he left to open the Palazzo and has been with the company ever since. That being said, if you have specific questions about things at the Venetian-Palazzo or at the Bellagio, I will ask him and he will most likely know or can find out for you.

As far as location is concerned, I wouldn't let that be your decided factor. Yes, Bellagio is in the middle of the strip, but nothing on the strip is inconvenient or too far away. Especially as someone who goes to Disney and walks all over the parks all day long, you should be fine regardless of where you stay. The sidewalks are massive and you can easily walk from one end to the other and back in a day. I used to do it every Friday night with my dad when I was in high school. It takes a couple hours, but you're having fun while you do it and you're working off your yardstick tall margarita or other drink of choice that you're sucking down as you walk. (Did you know we don't have any laws prohibiting open containers of alcohol in the 'Strip Corridor'?) If you become tired of walking, or get too drunk to continue walking, in addition to taxis and buses that are constantly running and dedicated to the strip, there are other ways to get around. We have a Monorail that runs from the MGM Grand to the Las Vegas Convention Center, with stops in between at other hotels on that side of the street. On the other side of the street, there is a tram that runs between Treasure Island and the Mirage, there's another tram that runs from the Bellagio, to City Center, and then to the Monte Carlo, and then there is a tram that runs from the Excalibur, to the Luxor, and then to Mandalay Bay. The trams are all free, there is a small charge for the monorail, the bus is very cheap, and the taxis, while the rates are very high, the distances aren't very long, so they don't wind up being very expensive unless you get stuck in traffic.

And so concludes your lesson on transportation around the Las Vegas Strip. :rotfl: If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. And if you think of any questions, I'll gladly look into them for you! Feel free to PM if you prefer.

:rotfl: Hi Linda! I get like that too, so no worries! :goodvibes

Right?! Epcot = Rain! :rotfl:

Hi Lesha,

Glad to see you didn't let a bit of drizzle scuppe your food and wine plans

Everything you picked looks great, am putting them on my list for October....

Love the PP pics, they are fabulous!

I will NEVER allow the weather (well, unless it's like an actual hurricane!) to get in the way of my Food and Drink! :rotfl: Dedication :thumbsup2

Nice beer selections!

I'm pretty sure I stole 'Great Googlie Mooglie' from somewhere...wish I was that creative :rotfl:

That's actually a pretty cool idea to give a 'booze cruise' a specific time. Never considered that!:thumbsup2

Oh yes - you will LOVE the Jalapeño rita. I'm definitely getting one next trip. I was having gastritis issues in October, so I refrained (just drank a ton of wine instead). But now I think I'm ready!

Does wine not bother you as much as hard liquor or beer?

Hey, you wouldn't have been the only one being a two-fister. Remember DH's 2 beer pic?!:thumbsup2

Wasn't the rain ridiculous?! I remember the last time I was in one of those downpours was in the Summer of 2008 and it was absolutely awful. But we were by ourselves and didn't care, so put on ponchos and braved it. Nowadays, there's no way!

Seriously missing Food & Wine now! Except for the downpours, of course.

Love your DH's rain face! :lmao:

Beautiful family pictures!

:rotfl: Rain face! That's what I should call it:thumbsup2

Oh gosh Heather:scared1: Not jealous at all of you right now. It's pretty nice in Cali right now, gonna be a high of 72. A little disappointed because it's supposed to be Winter and I have lots of cute winter clothes that are brand new:mad::headache:

I know you guys are having a great F&W, but what I don't understand is why you have only picked out one of the offerings at each booth? :confused3 There are three of you do you not like the other offerings or are you ust trying to pace yourselves?

I forgot to add, your family looks so cute in those pitiless pictures. You look positively radiant in your updo. How you can always look so beautiful is a secret I never mastered.

DM is super picky and I wanted to make sure that we didn't get to full, otherwise we would have completely skipped over booths.

Did you know that my bun contains a sock?! :rotfl2: Yes, there is an actual SOCK in my hair keeping it up like that! I knew it was going to rain and my hair does not do good in rain so to keep it out of my face, I decided to go with the sock bun. It worked!

Love the PP picture of the family. That's gorgeous!

That's a fantastic number of F&W snacks you're getting through. Looking forward to more.

Thanks PIO! I think we're doing good so far :)

:scared1: that rain!

Very cute family photos.

Those cheese selections sound ahhhhhmazing.

We are HUGE cheese lovers, so we knew that we needed to get the cheese! I wish we would have gotten two cheese platters though looking back.

Great update! :)

Thanks wiigirl :)

:rotfl: Oh my gosh, you're so right about the crunchies! That's exactly what it looks like. Great description! :lmao:

Oh goodness, need to brush up on my Spanish badly. I hope bastante is a good thing :rotfl2:

Oh my gosh, your food photos are making me so hungry! And I just had dinner!

I had no idea about the trams. Thank you for letting me know about this! Okay, so I was going to say it in my next update, but we FINALLY booked our vacation last night! We found a pretty good package deal with Flight and Hotel for the Bellagio and show tickets. So we're flying into Vegas around 6:45pm on Friday, March 28 and checking into the Bellagio. Any info on how to get from the airport to the hotel? With the show tickets, we were trying to see any Cirque show, really leaning towards LOVE, but couldn't get any seats with our friends who also got the same package. The only show we could get was for Zarkana, so that's what we're seeing. I think the reviews were better for Ka, but we wanted to sit together, so i'm sure it will be okay and that's for Saturday night at 7pm.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend. I did! Because we finally booked our Las Vegas vacation yesterday

Our friends that are going with us, found a good package deal that included airfare out of an airport about 45 minutes from us, so now we don't have to drive the 5 1/2 - 6 hour drive. Although I didn't care about the drive but now we can get back home sooner.

We're staying at the Bellagio and seeing the cirque show, Zarkana. I'm just glad we have a location nailed down, so now we can plan our meals, which is what i'm most excited about :cool1::yay:

Next update will be later this evening and will be catching up on the rest of my subscriptions. :)
