free tickets to Kennedy Space Center

Just got email saying our dates for May was approved will get to the KSC for the first time and for free. yah!

Just found this thread, we're California residents stationed in North Carolina (Coast Guard). Hope to get up with our California Congresswoman, we're sailing on the Magic in April, this would be great to do too.

Quick question how does parking work since you have to pick up tickets at will call but it says you pay for parking upon entry?

FredandKell, Who did you contact in Georgia? I contacted my local rep and never heard from him. We are cruising in September and would love to visit KSC. Thank you for any help.

You print out your confirmation info from your congressional office and give it to the parking attendant, explains you have a compensated pass that includes parking.

That was my experience, anyway.

After finding this thread, I called our Congresswoman's Tour Coordinator and asked her about it. She took my information and emailed me back with this response. "We spoke yesterday on the phone about getting you and your family tickets to the Kennedy Space Center. Unfortunately, we are not able to retrieve tickets for you; our office in unable to fulfill that service."

So, I guess not everyone is eligible for it??? This was for California.

We're in California and we could have gotten them, except we were too close to the date we needed them for.

When I contacted our Congresswoman, they replied back that they couldn't get tickets for Kennedy Space Center only Kennedy performing Art Center. I wrote back and told them that they could. About 3 weeks later, I received a letter explaining that they were only able to get tickets for 6 months out.

So, I'm guessing that someone in the office might have spent that intervening time maybe contacting the Space Center and finding out about the program.

ETA: I found this on an earlier post. They should try contacting NASA Headquarters
Office of Legislative & Intergovernmental Affairs and asking.

So, do you mean that you have to be at least 6 months out to get the tickets? I was thinking about trying this for our trip, which is next January, so a year. (yeah, I plan ahead!) I figured I'd wait until fall, but maybe I should try sooner?

I requested for Ohio, got a standard email saying they would get back to me they get a lot of email blah blah...

Yes, they are. They are just being lazy and not looking.

I just got an email back from our Congressman's Rep and he was able to get us tickets for June! My DS is so excited. He has been wanting to go since he was 4 and he is now 14. We just never seemed to have time or extra money to go on our past vacations down. Since we moved to FL last year he has been begging to go and now we will be able to take him thanks to the Disboards. I would never have known about the complimentary tickets if it wasn't for these boards.

I called my house representative's office in Washington (I am from NY). I wanted tickets for next month so I knew it was a long shot.

She didn't know anything about this service but called the space center and said yes. She was very very helpful. But the only problem is it has to be 6 months out, they were only offering tickets for June or July. I'll be 8 months pregnant then, so no flying for me! :rotfl:

I contacted my Senator's office yesterday evening and I got a response today! :) They just asked how many and for what day. :)Thanks for this post! I live in Florida and never knew about this.

I called my Rep. today and I got an email back almost immediately. Here is the response-

I got our confirmation yesterday!! :yay:

Great news! The Kennedy Space Center has approved your request for tickets on July 19, 2014. Additionally, the tickets include a second day of admission free to the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, if it is used within seven days.

They will email me more information and a confirmation number about a month prior to the date of your visit, so I will be in contact at that point. The confirmation number is all that you will need to pick up your tickets at the Visitor Complex on the day of the tour.

So for those who have toured the KSC--is it a good way to spend the day? Did you enjoy it?

We've done it twice, and we're likely to do it again, if our trips to that area allow us the time to do so.

It's a lot of bus riding around the property with not a whole lot to see, so some kids may find that part pretty boring. But, once you're back at the visitor area, there are a lot of things to see.

Thank you for the information!
