:wave2: Hi there - still learning the lingo. CRO? Is this a website or service for booking DVC rooms if not a DVC member? And if so, do we still get other Disney perks such as DME? Thanks...

I had to google it myself. Central Reservations Office.

In my opinion, as a BCV owner, it is totally worth the upgrade. I tell you up front that I am an owner, because I am biased.
That said, with a 1 bedroom Villa you will have a Master bedroom with a king size bed and an easy chair. The bathroom has a whirlpool tub as well as a separate walk in shower. There is a stackable washer and dryer, which enables you to pack less.
You will have a full size,, fully equipped kitchen which we love. Although I don't cook meals on vacation, we order supplies from wegoshop.com and it is great. They deliver right to the Villa. We eat a quick breakfast in the morning as we get ready for the day and we have snacks and adult beverages available throughout the stay. We order fruit, juice, coffee, breakfast pasteries, water, soda, beer, wine, cheese and crackers and other snack items.
You will have a living room with a queen size sleep sofa and an easy chair. There is a dining area with table and chairs. You will have a generous balconey.
It is important to remember that the Villas have a "theme" and are decorated to that theme. Some have commented that the Villas look dated, especially i9n comparison to the BC hotel rooms. The reality is, they are not decorated in the hotel anywhere USA elegant style. If this bothers you the Villa might not be for you.
As a cash visitor booking through CRO you will receive all of the amenities as if you were a hotel guest, including daily housekeeping.
I love the Villas and once you have stayed in a 1 BR Villa you will never want to go back to a regular hotel room
Have a Great Trip

Thanks! Having stayed in a one bedroom before, I figured as much, but wanted to hear from someone who has stayed there.

We are booked at the Beach Club this June and are able to get the. I wondered if upgrading to a garden view would be worth our money.
The difference would be $15 a night.

I would upgrade from the standard view to the garden view. The standard view can be looking at large flat roofs while the garden view is much nicer, our favorite, in fact. Many of the garden view rooms face the wooded area between BC and Epcot. :goodvibes

Thanks Teena! I am about to call and upgrade from YCSV for our family of five to a deluxe BC room. If I would really only be unhappy with the 2 standing room only balcony rooms, what do you suggest I use as my room request?

One and only request should be "full balcony". There are only six of those rooms and all are about the same distance from the lobby/elevators.

So excited to read through as much of this whole thread as possible! We'll be at the BC from May 3rd-10th (myself, DH and 6 yr old DD). We were originally booked at the CR in a Garden Wing room, but the new spring discount didn't apply to our room. Our TA originally bumped us up to a Tower room (Bay Lake view) and that still would have been a bit cheaper than our rack-rate reservation. But - we'd been hoping to save more, so after pricing out a few other resorts, we made the decision to switch to BC. I'm thrilled, as it's where I wanted to stay when DH and I started talking about planning this upcoming trip. I guess some things were just meant to be! This will be our second family trip to WDW. We were there in early May 2012 and stayed at Poly, which we loved - esp. the convenience of the monorail. HOWEVER! I am so excited to be the Epcot area this time, as I know it will give us an entirely new experience and let us do things we didn't do last time - explore the Boardwalk area, spend more time in Epcot, etc. I was also happy to drop the water park option on our tickets since SAB seems more than water-park-enough for us - I know we're going to love it. Can't wait to start reading up on all the posts here!

For me, no. I could care less what is outside my balcony door. I look once when I walk in the room. Then the only time I'm in the room, I'm sleeping, showering or getting dressed and I have the drapes closed so who cares. Some people use the balcony and I guess spend time in their room looking out the window. That's not what I do at Disney. Each person has their own thing that's important. I'd rather take that $15 and have some extra "drinks" every day or save it up and have a massage. To each his own.

Totally agree -- I could have written this, except I've used Garden Grocer rather than WeGoShop. (And I don't do adult beverages.) I stayed in BCV 1 bedrooms twice on cash, and loved it so much I bought into DVC with enough points to stay in a 1 bedroom for a few nights every year.

Knowing that BCV studios could be limited (looking at the week before Thanksgiving in 2015), I will set my expectations for a BC room as a fall back.

DH will never know the difference. If we end up with the studio, "look honey, we got upgraded".... :rolleyes1

Keep in mind that we BCV owners have been writing about 1-bedroom villas, not studios. A 1-bedroom villa is always my first choice.

Some people would tell you that going from a BC room to a BCV studio is not an upgrade. Many people like the BC rooms better than the BCV studios.

I, personally, like the BCV studios and have never wanted to stay in a BC room. I like having the couch, and have not needed a second bed. I like having the kitchenette area because I like to eat breakfast in the room every day. BCV feels like home to me, and a studio feels more like home than a regular hotel room would.

But if you need the second bed, you might prefer BC. If you don't eat in the room, you might prefer BC (although BC rooms do have mini fridges so you can keep stuff cold).

Some people think the BC rooms are prettier. You can look at the photos and decide for yourself.

And by the way, this was my first attempt at multi-quoting, so I'm all :yay:

Need to come back in the morning to officially welcome some new folks to the thread, but here is a generic :welcome: to tide you over.

A few people have been asking about the view categories, so I thought I would post the info from the FAQ post on Page 1. There is a link to thread of room views in the various categories so you can see some samples of standard vs. garden vs. water view

What will the view from my room be?

Effective with reservations on January 1, 2011, the view categories at the Beach and Yacht Clubs were reclassified into 3 booking categories:

Standard view- parking lot or rooftops
Garden view- something green- trees or courtyard
Lagoon or Water view- lake or pool

I started up two View Threads in the Resort Photo Subforum:

Beach Club Room Views

Yacht Club Room Views

The purpose of these threads is to give some samples of rooms in various view categories (standard, garden, lagoon/pool) at the Yacht and Beach Clubs.

:flower3: Hanging my head in shame.... please remove us from the list. We've switched to BWI....for now....I'm sure I'll probably switch back before September :D

No DEFINITE time frame at this time. It is anticipated that the regular room and hallway renovations that ALL Disney resorts go through on a schedule will start this summer (probably July or August). The renovations at the BC will include an enlargement of the Club Level Lounge. From what I hear the lounge will be done first. While that is being enlarged and renovated, the lounge will be set up in the Presidential Suite. It is huge and it will be a treat for guests to actually get to see that Suite. Thereafter, all rooms/hallways will be renovated (as happens at every Disney Resort). The fifth floor obviously will be done first, one section at a time so as not to disrupt the other part of the fifth floor. When the fifth floor is done, the fourth floor starts, section by section so as not to disrupt other guests.

Most people have probably stayed at a Disney resort while the normally scheduled renovations are going on. It is rare you would even notice anything or hear anything. All "noise" work is done during the day when guests are at the pool or at the parks.

If a problem should arise (like you have a baby and return at 1 PM for a nap every day and you are unlucky enough to get a room near where construction is occurring and the noise is a nuisance), then all you need to do is talk to one of the front desk CMs and they will get you moved to a section where naps during the day for children will not be near any noise at all.

Again, I've stayed at the Grand and the BC during these renovations and if I hadn't known about it from reading about it, I would never had known.

I would NEVER change my reservations to another resort because of renovations and there is also a chance that if you switch to another resort, that resort could also be going through renovations. It's a process that is continuous all over WDW.

Yes, rooms too.

We don't really have a time frame.

We believe the work on the BC lounge will be started in June. When that is done, rooms on the 5th floor will be refurbed, one section at a time. Then work will move onto the 4th floor rooms, then 3rd, etc...

I wasn't around for the last BC/YC renovation in 2008/2009, so I don't know how long that process took.

ETA: "What Teena Said"

Thanks!:thumbsup2

Buzzy-
What sugary adult drinks have you gotten yourself stuck in that you didn't want to get out of? Do you attribute your larger size to delightfully delicious goodies (at least in part)? I specifically would like to know if you have ever tried the cheese danish or at least SEEN it at BC...or YC? Do you venture to YC or is that something I should leave on the downlow?

Or for any others that have seen the pastries - do they serve the fabulous cheese danishes at YC or BC? I get them all the time at the Poly - along with my beloved waffles - but dare I say that I like the cheese danish better than the waffle??

Thankzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

:wave2: Hi there - still learning the lingo. CRO? Is this a website or service for booking DVC rooms if not a DVC member? And if so, do we still get other Disney perks such as DME? Thanks...

CRO is, as stated, the Central Reservations Office. This is the main Disney reservation line for all hotels as well as DVC Villa cash rooms. Unless you are a DVC member, you can not call the specialDVC Member Services number used by members. The number of Villas available at CRO for cash rentals is limited however.
If you reserve a BCV through Central Reservations Office for your cash stay you are considered a Disney resort guests and eligible for all resort amentities including DME and the DDP. There was, and I am not sure if it is still true, even room service available at the Villas through the regular BC room service number. I think it is still available, but the menu was not in our Villa last October, so I am not sure.
Enjoy

We've book BC CL, is there anything you guys would recommend to put in for my room request?

I would really like a full balcony I know it's not guaranteed but it is worth noting when I check in online etc?

We're not going until October so ages yet but all I'm thinking about is going back! :D

When staying CL can you take the breakfast items back to your room?

Hi all! Just booked yesterday for an August trip! I dont know much about this resort so I am eager to starting reading up! I hope the construction doesn't affect anything :-(

Whichever request is most important to you should be listed first on your request. We are a family of five so a daybed is the only request I list. If a full balcony is important to you but have other requests, list a full balcony first. You don't have to wait for online check-in to make the request. You can call Disney and place the request that way as well.

You can definitely take breakfast back to your room! Sometimes there's not enough seating for everyone if you go at a peak time.
