Turn Around and See What Happens -- It's Whoopi Time and that's a wrap 3/31; F&G add

Looks like a fun first day so far! I just love the Boardwalk.

Hope you and your family had a great Christmas!

Thats too bad you aren't coming to NYC this spring but I understand.

Mark needed his Mickey stickers at checkin? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Wow… your room was ready? Awesome! We never have that kind of luck. :badpc:

Love the view from your room. You should post that pic on the worst room view thread. :rolleyes2

Heading to MVMCP? You guys waste no time. :hyper:

I hope you and Mark had a wonderful Christmas! :goodvibes

Great update!! Can't wait to hear about the DisMeet!!!

I think I would have been a little sad about the view from your room. (like I was from our room at Beach Club). That always seems to set the tone for my vacation.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!!!

Yeah for a great check in and a room that is already ready and waiting! :woohoo:

Love the photos of the room - guess we need to try and stay at the BW one of these days too!

:rotfl2: How fun that Mark needed some stickers too! :thumbsup2

YAY you are at the Boardwalk, I can't wait to hear what you thought of it but glad check in went so well! I hope you had a magical Christmas Kathy!

What a great start to your trip so far!

Your room is ready at a beautiful resort AND everyone got stickers!!!

Although my heart remains with the Beach Club, Boardwalk is also very tempting to me. The location is great and the theming is really nice. Such a gorgeous lobby!

Looking forward to hearing about your evening plans! Party! Party! Party!

Ooooo, can't wait for the major Dis meet! :goodvibes

Thanks, Camille. It should be in the update AFTER the next one.

Awesome update! Your room at Boardwalk looks amazing! I would love to stay there some day! :cool1:

Thanks, Alan. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the Boardwalk Villas. But without giving TOO much away yet, we really liked it.

Kathy,
A little late in sending along my Christmas wishes to you and Mark. Hope you had a magical day filled with wonderful memories with your family.
I posted on our pickle thread, but wanted to tell you that our DS Paul was able to come home for a few days... the best gift to us this Christmas.

Thanks, Janet. We had a very nice Christmas and the festivities continue tonight when we get home from work as Mark, Alisha and Rolo are there waiting for us. I'm glad your son was able to come home for a few days. :)

Kathy
Great photos of BWI. :thumbsup2

Thanks, Janet.

Had to laugh when you mentioned that your view looking straight out blocked out the scary clown pool. Although creepy looking, I would love to try the coaster water slide some day.

Nope, you won't see me going down that slide and through that clown's mouth.

Love that Mark had to have stickers (I like getting them too! :goodvibes)

He has a Mickey Mouse sticker on the front bill of EVERY single hat he owns!

As we didn't get a chance to visit any of the Epcot resorts to see the decorations, it's a nice treat to see your BWI pix. :thumbsup2 (love the garland under the Dumbo figure.)

I was a tad disappointed with the BWI decorations; the gingerbread house was no where near as nice as last year (although I found that with all of the decorations this year).

Hi Kathy - it looks like you had a wonderful Christmas on FB. :)

We did, and I am glad that you did too.

Loved the Boardwalk pictures - it looks like such a fun resort.

It really was; it's a great area.

I would be so disappointed with the view - but yes, the bright side is that you didn't have to see the clown.

The view didn't bother me this trip because I knew we wouldn't be in the room but to sleep. If I had been there longer and planned on some "resort" time I would not have been too pleased.

Am I the only one who thinks the Boardwalk rooms are in need of a serious update? You can tell they were once beautiful - but they just seem so tired now.

The kitchenette area was very nice as was the vanity for the bathroom (except the carpet). The rest of the room looked like it needed some TLC.

Can't wait to hear about MVMCP!

D~

Probably the update after the next update.

The Boardwalk looks like a great place to stay if it wasn't for that freaky clown slide. :rotfl:

Yeah, I don't like that thing at all. I will have pictures later on as we walked over to the pool.

I can't think of a much better way to start a trip than going to the MK for a party. :thumbsup2

It was the best way to start the trip.

Looks like a fun first day so far! I just love the Boardwalk.

I was so leery of staying there and am now very glad we did (as you'll see later in the recap).

Hope you and your family had a great Christmas!

We did; I hope you did too. :)

Thats too bad you aren't coming to NYC this spring but I understand.

A lot os all up in the air with not knowing if Mark is going to be at his job at the end of the year or in six months. The good news is my girls trip is paid for except for meals and our September trip the resort is paid for.

Mark needed his Mickey stickers at checkin? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Just wait until you meet him. You'll think he's one of the kids! :rotfl::rotfl:

Wow… your room was ready? Awesome! We never have that kind of luck. :badpc:

We've had good luck with our room being ready most of our trips with the exception of twice at OKW and once at the Coronado. Every other time our room has been ready.

Love the view from your room. You should post that pic on the worst room view thread. :rolleyes2

It really was bad, wasn't it? And that was a garden or water view. ;)

Heading to MVMCP? You guys waste no time. :hyper:

Nope we don't. After I bought the tickets for the party I almost kicked myself in the A** in case we had troubles getting there with the weather. But it all worked out in the end.

I hope you and Mark had a wonderful Christmas! :goodvibes

We did; I hope you, Mel and the kids did too (I saw the photo of Ana with her rainbow loom).

Great pics! :)

Thank you.

Great update!! Can't wait to hear about the DisMeet!!!

Thanks, Linda. Soon we will get to the DISmeet.

I think I would have been a little sad about the view from your room. (like I was from our room at Beach Club). That always seems to set the tone for my vacation.

Like I said previously, if we had been there longer and had a lot of down time, I would have been sad. But this trip it really didn't matter.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!!!

We did; I hope you and your family did as well.

Yeah for a great check in and a room that is already ready and waiting! :woohoo:

I love when the room is ready!

Love the photos of the room - guess we need to try and stay at the BW one of these days too!

I think you would like it Karin; and it is so convenient to so many things.

:rotfl2: How fun that Mark needed some stickers too! :thumbsup2

The man refuses to grow up. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Oh… BTW, my first post on the DIS was in November 2008, and you responded to my thread about CSR.

I was such a NOOB. :rotfl2::rotfl2: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

And now you could write a travel book!!!!

YAY you are at the Boardwalk, I can't wait to hear what you thought of it but glad check in went so well! I hope you had a magical Christmas Kathy!

Yes, we arrived and had a room ready! I won't go into too much detail, but we really liked it. We did have a magical Christmas and can't wait for it to continue tonight with Mark and Alisha and Rolo. I hope you, Jeff and all of your family had a magical Christmas too.

What a great start to your trip so far!

Thanks, Dee.

Your room is ready at a beautiful resort AND everyone got stickers!!!

I was so happy the room was ready so I could change into shorts. Yes, ALL of the kids were happy they got stickers. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Although my heart remains with the Beach Club, Boardwalk is also very tempting to me. The location is great and the theming is really nice. Such a gorgeous lobby!

I think I mentioned it before, but I didn't care for the Beach Club. I would probably stay again and give it another try, but we really liked the Boardwalk. The lobby is gorgeous there.

Looking forward to hearing about your evening plans! Party! Party! Party!

Who doesn't love to party?

Since I did such a short update yesterday, I thought I'd get in another short one today since we will be busy with Mark, Alisha and Rolo until late Sunday morning.

I left you with we had just left the Boardwalk to head to the Magic Kingdom.

We parked the car, got on the tram and then took the Ferry Boat to the Magic Kingdom. I took only one photo on our boat ride (we were having too much fun watching the girls get excited):

We got through bag check which was nice and easy for a change.

I took a few pictures of the decorations as we walked in.

We still had a few minutes to check in for our ADR, so I decided we should stop for photopass pictures (I had gotten the Photopass+ for this trip). Mary and the girls were doing something else, so we got just Mark and I to start:

Then Mary and the girls joined in:

We then walked over to check in here:

Anyone know where we are? If you guessed The Plaza, you would be correct.

We had about a 20 minute wait before we were taken to a table. And it really ticked us off as there were plenty of empty tables. I think they were very understaffed.

The girls waiting to order:

I think this was Mary's--the Philly Steak sandwich:

This was the girls meal which neither one of them liked (said the bread was awful, but Mr. Mark liked it and finished one of the girls):

Mark's club sandwich:

My burger:

We all had room for dessert.

The girls:

Cayley being silly:

Mark's dessert:

And mine:

I don't have a picture of Mary's because it took forever for it to come! Mary mentioned she had an allergy to some kind of nut and they made a big production out of it (she wishes now she'd never said anything).

Overall, it was an enjoyable meal. But for the first time in ALL of our meals here, the service was absolutely horrid. Slow, unfriendly and not cheerful at all. Mary and I have decided to skip it with the girls in May/June, but Mark and I will do it in September...it is a tradition for us after all.

Up next, our first ride, a bit of shopping and our DIS meet.

Two Great Updates Kathy !!! Sorry you had a rotten view from your room !! Janet and I had a perfect one !! Te room looks wonderful !! CSR was on our list of places to say but as you know I was with a bunch of resort changers soooo:rotfl2::rotfl2: I updated both my threads today !! Ooops I missed one pt that I have not updated :rotfl2:

AWESOME update Kathy! LOL, tell Mark I LOVE his t-shirt! Looks like something I would wear!

And I cannot believe how Mary's girls have grown since I met them in 2009! Wow! I think it's cool that two of my DIS friends are friends! :grouphug:

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

These are some great PP photos, Kathy! And Mark's shirt is too funny! I love it.

Sorry about the service at The Plaza. The food looked good though, well, apart from the "sandwich" the girls had - what is it? It looks so dry.

All desserts look yummy, even though yours is the winner for me. :thumbsup2

Belated Merry Christmas! Have a wonderfully busy weekend enjoying time with the kids.

Love the room. I completely forgot you were staying at the BWV. Love the room. Interesting - the big love seat in there. Not the usual love seat, but the other white one. I've stayed there a few times and I have never had that in my room.

Absolutely love the PP pictures on Main Street. Makes me want to get there for Christmas SO bad! It just looks lovely.

Kathy, I love your Photopass+ pictures, they came out so nice, and Mark really didn't look all that "Grumpy" in those pictures. :rotfl:

Sorry to hear about your experience at the Plaza Restaurant. I'm sure it was just a rare bad day there... I'm willing to bet the next time you go back it will be all that you have come to enjoy at the Plaza Restaurant.

By the way, we must have just missed you when you had your breakfast at WCC. We were checked out of the WL and just walking the lobby and taking some final pictures of the resort before heading back home on the DME when you were there. It would have been nice if the pixie dust would have come our way, bumped into you (not literally, LOL), and had the chance to say bye. :(

Wow... you really were. :rolleyes1 :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

That's the good kind of busy though. :thumbsup2

I understand that staffing is usually the issue, but nothing irritates me more than sitting around waiting when I see empty tables. :headache:

We all had room for dessert.
There's always room for ice cream.

Yuck. I know you like the Plaza. It's disappointing that it didn't quite live up to the standards.

Kathy, I missed telling you Merry Christmas so I'll move on to say Happy New Year! (even though I'm a little early ;))

The Boardwalk looks so pretty and the room so large. Gotta love having the extra space to move around in.

You know what? You're not the first person that I've heard talk about lousy slow service at the Plaza. Oh and having to wait for a table even though there were lots of open tables in the restaurant.
