If you don't live where you are "from," what products do you miss?

Wal Mart use to sell Dorthy Lynch dressing because I use to buy it. I haven't been in a Wal Mart for over a year, so I am not sure if they still do. I think Meijers also use to sell it.

I ate at Jack in the Box in Fishers IN last month, so there are a few outside of the west coast.

I will look at Meijer- I don't go to Wal-Mart because every time I do, I get reminded why I don't go!

As a side note, the parking lot around that Jack in the Box is ridiculous! If you aren't going just the right direction you can't get in!

My family's all from Pittsburgh, spent many many summers there. I miss mancini's bread and chipped ham sandwiches! When I lived in Orlando, I couldn't wait to get home to Houston for kolaches, Whataburger and decent chips and queso

I miss anything from WaWa
Philly Pretzels
Real Cheesestakes (not this steak and cheese crap they have up in MA)
Pork Roll
Turkey Hill ice cream has now become hard to find in MA(especially Chocolate Peanut Butter)
Jersey Tomatoes and Corn
Chick Fil a (they have one in a mall up here, but they aren't everywhere like they are in S. Jersey and the Philly area)

lets swap...im from boston living in philly. i miss papa ginos, good chinese food (i can not find good beef teriyaki or pork fried rice here!) and fried dough.

i wanted to die when my philly dd's asked for a soft pretzel over the fried dough last time we were up. sacrilege!

and compared to septa, i so miss the "T" :cloud9:

Native Mainer now living in Southern Arizona.

Products I miss:

Seafood! I miss good clam chowder, corn chowder, fried haddock and halibut.

Fresh blueberries, raspberries and corn on the cob

Red hot dogs and New England style hot dog rolls

Nissen donuts (especially the chocolate ones with powdered or granulated sugar) and Devil Dogs

Amato's and D'Angelo's sandwich shops, Alex's Pizza and Dunkin Donuts. We do have Dunkin Donuts in Arizona, but not one on every corner like back home, and the dunkin donuts here do not taste the same as the ones back in New England.

I miss the Christmas Tree Shops, too. Love that place!:thumbsup2

I miss the ocean, everything about it...the sight, sound, smell. I miss that foggy, salty air.:)

If we ever left Arizona, I would miss In 'n Out Burger, Culvers, the beautiful sunshine, palm trees, mountains, breathtaking sunsets, short jaunts to the California coastline and Las Vegas. Oh, did I mention the gorgeous weather!:cool1: Well, not so much in the summer, but the rest of the year!

As long as I continue to get back to Maine at least once a year to get my fix of seafood, the Atlantic Ocean and shopping at the Christmas Tree Shop, LL Bean and Kennebunkport shops, I'm good!:rotfl:

Yes, i forgot the hot dog rolls! there are Dunk's in PA but the coffee is never right. idk why. i miss the christmas tree shops too. there is now one in jersey, but it doesn't have the same feeling.

I was an Air Force kid so not really from anywhere but I lived in Holland many times and always loved it. I miss:

Decent easy-to-find cheese
Flowers everywhere
Tons of history and culture
It not being so blazing hot
How nice the Dutch people are. Texans are nice too but in a different way.

From NYC:

Bagels, with really good lox.
Cannolis and Gelato (I've yet to find anything near as good here in Orlando... I miss Little Italy)
EVERYTHING from Trader Joe's ... hopefully in a year from now we'll have one here!
Gray's Papaya Hot Dogs
Butter Rum Muffins from Food Emporium :cloud9:

Now I'm not going to say it would feel authentic to you and the food would taste the same BUT have you been to Little Italy NYC ? If you haven't been there you should really try to and for the San Gennaro Feist/Festival that starts September 15

This is what I miss MOST about living in NY, you're not far you could look into one of the tasting tours There are also people in those family run restaurants that are from Italy that would probably love to talk to you :thumbsup2

A real warm & inviting community

Now I am HOMESICK !!

Yes, lol - thank you. I was born in Italy and have been back twice. i still have relatives there and sometimes they bring over cookies and my dad used to bring the Octopus. (He used to bring olive oil, octopus, lemons/limes, etc.). I have also been to Little Italy many times and the San Gennaro's feast - I think I went two years ago. We might go again this year. 18th Avenue in Brooklyn used to be the small version of Little Italy. Some things are pretty close - but some things you really need to have them there :)

I can't wait to go back - the flight is what holds me back :(

Looks like I'm the only Marylander here, now living in Orlando. I desperately miss Maryland blue crabs, hard-shell, steamed with Old Bay seasoning.

I'm up here in Virginia for a couple of weeks, so DH took me to Ray's in Prince Frederick, MD, yesterday for crabs. They were really good, but small and cost a bomb! $40 a dozen! We ordered a dozen (he doesn't eat crab) and I shared the tray with my niece. Luckily, the tray had 16 crabs (but we were only charged for a dozen); DN is a slow picker, so I ate a dozen in the time it took her to eat four! I could have eaten more, but not at that price!

Originally from Chicagoland, and am now back..but..when I lived in other states I really missed Italian beef. From my days in PA, I miss cheesesteaks and shmuffins.

From Oregon and I miss Tillamock cheese. I'm going to MT and plan in bringing back a few loaves.

From AZ...

Miss:
Good chorizo
Homemade tortillas from same place I'd get that great chorizo
Decent Mexican food...so far only a couple places out here that will give a decent fix, but that wasn't always the case

Someburros
Welchs grape soda...but I don't think I can get that anywhere now. :(
Tamales

Sigh. Now I'm hungry. Guess I'll be making some tortillas sooner than later.

At least living in the south has introduced me to the super yumminess that is chargrilled oysters.

Where do you live in CT? I live in the Boston area and just about every grocery store near me has Tastykakes.

I'm like 30 mins from Hartford. So not too far. I can't find them in the Shop Rite or Stop and Shop here! Admittedly, I haven't lived here too long. I might I have to take a trip up to Boston if they're there. Or have them shipped like another poster suggested. Momma is refusing to ship them now that I'm "an adult with a paying job who can get them herself"

Someburros have the best breakfast burritos! Yummy! I miss them too.

From Houston, currently living in TN.

I miss the city!!! All of it!

There's a cornfield across from my place of work! We have employee luncheons that center around barbecue baloney, and pretty much everyone I work with thinks that anywhere with a Walmart is the Big City. (Only to be ventured near on weekly shopping trips or for special occasions such as Christmas.)

So what do I miss:

Sidewalks
Brisket
Barbecue without slaw on top
Red beans and rice
Mexican food
Spicy food
Stores that stay open after 9 at night
Neighborhood swimming pools
Warm weather year around
Good public schools
Malls
Decent restaurants
stores besides Walmart, Target, and Kroger
IMAX
water parks
amusement parks
entertainment in general
Being a few hours from the beach and San Antonio

Can someone just rescue me now!

Grew up in Michigan and now living in Virginia

I miss Koegel Viennas
Spatz bread
Bratwurst from Kern's
and Blue Moon ice cream

Skyline Chili, LaRosa's pizza, Grippo's BBQ chips, Montgomery Inn, and Graeter's.

all comfort food for me. I stock up whenever I go home.

You forgot to mention where you're from... Cincinnati, baby! So am I and I miss those foods, too.

I'm more interested in reuniting with the food than my family when we get back to Cincy. :upsidedow

Ate LaRosa's this weekend. Thankfully Greater's in our grocery store and there is a skyline in town.

Did you know that you can buy the pizza sauce from LaRosa's. They sell it in a big plastic sealed bag.

I grew up in the New Orleans area, and the thing I miss most is BUNNY BREAD! I had a really hard time going to school in north Louisiana finding bread that was any good, so I would stock up on Bunny when I went home on the weekends. Now I live in Lafayette, about 2 hours west of NOLA and there is a brand here called Evangeline Maid that is about as close to Bunny as I have ever tasted. But now there is one Wal Mart that carries a very limited supply of Bunny Bread! One morning I was doing my grocery shopping, and I turned the corner onto the bread aisle and literally gasped out loud when I saw those bright yellow Bunny bread bags! So I can now still get it sometimes but if I have to grocery shop somewhere else I have to go for the other brand.

I also miss really good beignets from Cafe du Monde. Lafayette has more cajun cuisine but you can still get a lot of good south Louisiana food here, so it softens the blow of leaving the NOLA area. But good beignets are impossible to find anywhere else!

I grew up outside New Haven, CT and live in MIchigan now. I REALLY miss New Haven style pizza, Italian pastries, and fresh seafood.
