Petition against SB on Main Street, USA!

This is a done deal. Remember Starbucks signed a contract, they aren't in it to just make the coffee taste better. I am sure the contract guaranteed them an outlet in each park, and when they took the tour, they saw the location and line for morning pastry and coffee t the bakery and said, yup, we will take that corner right there.

I saw a suggestion about putting the shop somewhere else but Starbucks is going to want the location with the most foot traffic.

I am sure also Starbucks did not want a place selling baked goods right next to them. Sadly, this is not changing, the best to hope for is they add some of the bakery items to the candy store at the other end of the street.

This is not all bad, the coffee was terrible, and forgive me for saying this, but as good as they look the ice cream sandwiches were two oversized nestle toll house cookies with a scoop of generic ice cream. They were not a special recipe. I am sure they will survive in some form.

Main Street USA is full of sponsorships. The italian restaurant is sponsored. The bakery is just changing sponsors. Casey's would be presented by a hot dog company in a second if they get a deal they like. And the stores may have retained the cute names but they long ago were converted into a glorified Disney Store

And actually, if you think about it, Starbucks is such a part of the fabric of the US, that putting it on "Main Street USA" is kind of appropriate. I mean ... they sell iPhone cases at the Emporium. It's not like Main Street is supposed to be turn-of-the-century in all facets. It's a themed environment with many modern conveniences.

:thumbsup2 Great point! They also sell Coke products and Nestle coffee already. Would people find it "better" if Main St Bakery became a Nestle Bakery or a Coke sponsored Bakery?

It would have been a bit better if the Starbucks was moved to, possibly, the Tomorrowland Terrace area or as part of the new Fantasyland expansion. Unless Starbucks and Disney work to make the theme appropriate, then a supermodern Starbucks in a "turn of the 20th century" area will just stick out like a sore thumb.

It's fairly well established that the Main St location won't be a Starbucks as seen outside of the parks. Disney has come out in their statement and said it will themed both inside and out to git into the area. The staff will be wearing costumes won't even be Starbucks uniforms. If you check out the DCA location photos, you'll see even the inside is not a regular Starbucks. :thumbsup2

What's next....Burger King in the castle? *sigh*

Or even better, a Gloria Jean's coffee shop to compete with Starbucks. :lmao:

But the main thing here is that many companies have been sponsors with Disney. You know the icecream place at the end of Main Street; it's Edy's icecream.

Hopefully, Disney does try to keep the theme of the new Starbucks somewhat more old-fashioned, though I will probably never go in because of the insane crowds and bitter-tasting coffee (well, there's bitter coffee at my local Starbucks).

Starbucks is overpriced as it is outside of the parks I can just imagine what a cup will go for after the Disney World exchange rate.

But it won't be. The CMs will still wear the "historical" uniforms. It will still look like Main St bakery on the outside and maybe not that different on the inside. They will serve Starbuck goodies but, I'm sure all the old Main St Bakery favs will be there, just like in the Starbucks in DLC.

Honestly, do you not think that Disney have thought about this?

I think the best way for people to show Disney they do not like this is to cancel your trip. The best time for people to do this would be the first week of December.

A touch over dramatic :lmao: Disney has always had corporate sponsors. Disney doesn't own Kodak, Coca-Cola, Joffreys, Nestle. McDonalds has been in the parks previously. In DTD Disney alone there is Earl of Sandwich, AMC Cinema, Planet Hollywood, Cirque du soleil. All other businesses.

They coffee served at Main St Bakery is Nestle, not "Disney" branded coffee so I don't see the big deal.

Sponsors aren't always bad. Thankfully they made a deal with Kellog's which changed the krisped rice treat into rice krispee treats

I agree that the would be the perfect timing to take such action! That will show them! :cool1:

This is so funny. People are seriously upset about big corporate presence at DISNEY world? Laughable.
