Summer Vacation Time - San Diego, Hotel Del Coronado, Catalina, and of course DL

More or less. It's themed to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. The area by Monsters Inc. and MuppetVision is where it takes place and there's a Wonderland band fronted by "Alice" and a white rabbit DJ when the band isn't playing.

I never saw GlowFest. I was more focused on seeing World of Color that summer and the timing never worked out for me to see both. I really enjoyed elecTRONica because I loved how it felt like I was back in the 1980s and/or in the world of TRON. The almost time travel aspect with the music and lighting was cool especially when you factored in the whole TRON City feel. Seeing the CMs dressed in TRON costumes that seemed right out of the movie was great.

I gave Mad T Party a try. I lasted maybe 10 minutes and left because it was too loud and crowded for my tastes. Those who were there seemed to really enjoy themselves. For me the street party thing depends greatly on theme, but I would tell anyone to give it a try. You'll probably know after 10 minutes or so if it's something you want to spend more time at. I would like to see the human slinky sometime at Mad T Party.

I do recommend riding the Tower of Terror during a nighttime party because the pulsing lights look really cool from that high up.

Interesting name, huh?

Oh....that's my kind of humour! :lmao:

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting the additional RSR pics!

Regarding your two times seeing WOC. Did you just get the regular fast pass the one time and Carthay dining package the other?

Thanks!
Kerry

Thanks, it sounds like if we're in the area while it's going on, it's worth a look.

Awesome Lori. Where is that in relation to Harbor Blvd?

It's about 1 block off, it's on Clementine, that's the street that runs behind the FFI, and around. It's right across from the Cheesecake Factory, lol!
You can easily walk it, but no views of the park from there, Bummer. It's more room though, and a full litchen, and nice breakfast every morning, starting at 6am, by the pool.

That was the first time I say that one. We also got the stickers for the car (and I am so not a car sticker person!). We got the "my other car is a monorail...its an inside peel on sticker. I also wanted to get the "my family is a nightmare! sticker from Nightmare before Christmas.

I have the my family is a nightmare one-the only car sticker I'd ever consider :). I love it so much.

No we got blue fast passes both times but on the second time we worked our way down to the railing as no one wanted to be there. It was crazy fun. We were so soaked by the end of it. I have a picture of us soaked. I had to keep the camcorder in one hand and the slr in the other and try to keep them from getting so drenched. I'll post the pic when I get to it on the trip report.

I missed this update earlier but just had to comment.

LOVE this shot! :thumbsup2

Thanks Janet. I wanted this shot so badly but I didn't think it turned out very good on the camera. I still would have liked to tweek it if I had another chance.

Day 3 - Disneyland

This was suppose to be our Early Entry day. I have to tell you that we didn't make it. It was a little depressing that we didn't make it but in retrospect I'm glad we didn't. We needed the rest. We stayed up pretty late at DCA with our WOC experience and then we went over to Mad T Party. So we made it by 8am or so and still was able to do just about anything we wanted.

We went straight to the Riverbelle Terrace for breakfast. I love this restaurant for breakfast. The names of the platters include the Mark Twain and I think another is called the Becky Thatcher (fruit plate). I had the eggs, bacon, potatoes, biscuit, and juice. I think that's the Mark Twain. Thinking about it right now makes my mouth water. I compare this breakfast to the Port Orleans Riverside breakfasts in the mill. Oh so good.

So we walked out and headed towards Tarzan's Treehouse but took a right and made our way towards Pirates. This is where we encountered the families of the TV Show "Sister Wives". They were all there. I have pictures of them and I had posted them back a few days ago. It's always a little surreal when you see a "star". Every year we go to Disneyland we always encounter some kind of star whether it be a A lister or much lower. Years past we had seen Kathy Ireland, the dad from High School Musical, and few others. This year was Sister Wives, Dave Foley, and Marlon Wayans.

Today was your typical Disneyland Day. It was fun all around. Lots of fun, great rides, good food, and family time. We rode alot of the classics including Tiki Room, Indy, Jungle Cruise, Buzz Lightyear to just name a few. One of my favorite things I love to do is ride IASM at night. It makes me think of what a tunnel of love ride would be back in the day. I love to ride it and hold hands with my wife. We got to ride Storybook Canal Boats at night again on this day as well. It's such the simple rides that make Disneyland so special.

Here are some of the shots I took on this day.

Dusk at Big Thunder

Day 4 we went to Catalina. I went ahead and covered much of that already so my next installment will be Day 5. This was my favorite day of all. We got to do some really fun things. Stay Tuned!

Hi Mike!

Thoroughy enjoying the report. I just cannot wait to get my Canon to DL and you have given me some great inspirtional shots! I too love to take pics from unusual angles and try to capture what others overlook. It's the little touches in print that make some of the best shots and memories!

Looking forward to more!:thumbsup2

Now you're making my mouth water.

Sounds like you had a great Disney Day 3.

Another great shot of the Matterhorn with the nifty 250...or is that now the nifty 150? (That's a fantastic price for this lens!)

Too bad I paid $250 back in the day.

We are off to see Kenny Loggins in concert tonight for $5 each! We saw five for fighting last year for the same price and it was awesome. I am a huge fan of Five For Fighting. Their albums are good complete albums and not just one hit wonders. I know K Loggins is getting older but I'm still excited to say that I've seen him.

I use to work in a music store for a lot of years and I've seen nearly everyone there is to see. And I got to see them for free!

Wish me luck tonight!
