OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Really thinking of upgrading from pirate room at CBR to BC. Is it worth it? DS5 and DD16mo (and DH). Are there any standard view rooms that are decent? Or is it worth the upgrade to garden view? Thanks!

I completely think it is worth it. Apples to Oranges. I am not a moderate resort person, just not my thing. So for me being walking distance to Epcot, queen beds, refurbed rooms, beautiful hotel, for me I love it. The pool is a huge draw for our family. We just love it. Between the 2, I prefer YC but both are lovely hotels. Teh greeter at BC, Teena, is wonderful!!!!! BC little more crowded than YC and a little nosier lobby but not terrible at all. YC decor a little richer feeling and more posh while BC is hamptons type feel. Lovely as well. Both are super close to Epcot, BC being a HAIR closer....both share same pool. There is no foodcourt here at all......BC/YC is a destination in and of itself.....where as to me a moderate hotel is a lovely hotel to sleep in to get to the parks...

No single queen room in CL except for deluxe (Teena?). I would contact IPO and tell them you really would like a king and a full balconey but let them know which is more important. Kings are few and far between. Count on the two queens and if you get the king it makes it that much more special (sort of like winning the lottery).

Thank you Katesday. I will be happy with two queens and a full balcony. If we hit the lottery ;) that would be extra pixie dust. You have set my mind at ease. :)

Angel I sent you a PM but honestly don't fret. BC is WONDERFUL. Any cutback in their lounge is a cutback at every deluxe hotel.Fewer dessert options at night, no lemonade or tea at dinner or evening, etc. I am sure it is site wide across disney....Nothing PERSONAL to the BC. I would stay at BC or YC again easily

Thank you Scottmel. Sounds like the Club Level Lite (IPO called it that) that they changed over to a couple years back. I noticed some differences on our last ALK CL stay in 2010. Nothing too big, but less options at evening offerings and dessert.

Two months from today we will be check in for our first stay at Beach Club. :yay: I am getting so excited!

Thank you for sharing the obituary, Dee. My heart aches for his wife and family, as well as all of his BC family. :(

Lurker... guilty as charged

What a great thread this has been! I've only checked in to claim the noodles, but now have a few other quesitons. We are checking in to the BC in a week for the very first time. (As I said on another thread, I feel as though we are cheating on the WL) With all you've said, we are now so much more excited (and blessed) to be celebrating our 25th anniversary at this resort - and most likely our last "family" vacation as my oldest is now 19.

1. We are coming in early. How soon can we realistically expect to get in our room? What are your thoughts about hanging at SAB vs heading to a park at 10:30ish?

2. I've read a lot of info about CL (something we can only dream about), but what would you suggest for requests regarding regular rooms? We are 4. I'm sure my boys would love to sleep apart, but would hate to keep a daybed from a family of five. :(

3. Is there a hidden mickey list of clues for BC (similar to WL)?

Teena, may your memories of laughing with Vic carry you through the difficult days ahead.

Watched Toy Story 3 (I always cry) on the beach tonight under the moonlit sky after having a wonderful meal at The Yachtsman Steakhouse and getting a kiss from Oscar even though he wasn't our waiter. We had a great waiter named Eric.

All the cast members here have been so wonderful!!! Especially Teena!

Life is good.

Yes, it is.

Just 3 weeks from today we will be arriving at BC!
So, so excited for our first BC stay. Everyone here has helped so much. We are so looking forward to CL too which is also new for us.
I'm trying to plan our arrival day. We land at MCO at 9:25am so I hope we are at BC by 11am. There are 11 of us and we have 5:05 ADRs at Chef Mickeys to celebrate my DFs birthday which is right on our arrival day.
My thoughts are check in. SAB until 1ish if rooms are ready. Head to MK around 2:30 to soak it all in and maybe do some filler rides. Thinking we may be able to get FPs with a useable RT for BTMRR or Buzz or Dumbo for the little kids. If not we would be ok with Philharmagic, Monsters Inc... Things with typical shorter wait times.
Now tell me if this is completely nuts... Thinking when we check in, before we settle at SAB, I would have everyone enter EP through IG to validate tickets. Then I could watch my LINES app for when a Soarin FP RT wold be 7pmish - 8pmish. I have no problem taking a walk over to Soarin with all tickets to get FPs. I'm thinking after Chef Mickeys we cold monorail it to EP front entrance, ride Soarin with FPs and then go back to BC to sleep. I'm sure we will be pooped! Am I nuts?

:thumbsup2 Wonderful post!

Booked our trip April 20-26' 2013 at the Yacht Club. We've never stayed there before, hoping its great. We've never booked a trip this far in advance before, seems like forever away!

:welcome: and congrats on your booking.

:cool1:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

Love this thread! We are booked garden view in November 2013. Everyone provides so much info.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

I just checked and the pictures looked ok to me.

If anyone else is seeing the pictures in the wrong places, please let me know!

The SAB labeled layout map was still there in the pool section.

I went back on later and the pictures were where they were supposed to be. My ipad must have been playing tricks on me!

Thanks for the kind words about the thread. :goodvibes

1. Hard to know exactly when your room will be ready. The two times we checked in (CL), our rooms were ready by 11:30.

Should you go to the park or SAB? Either is a good choice- you can leave your carryon bags/luggage with Bell Services and start enjoying your stay. Maybe let the weather be your guide??

A visit to the MK (via bus) is always the first thing on our agenda after checkin (although honestly, EPCOT would be easier).

2. There is some info on Page 1, FAQ post about requests- this is difficult to answer since every family is different. If a balcony is important to you, request that. If you want a location close to the lobby/SAB or if you prefer a location closer to EPCOT, you can ask for that.

Since you mentioned daybed, I think you should go ahead and put in a request for one. Families of 5 have the priority, so you won't be depriving them of a room with a daybed by requesting one. Might as well have the boys be comfortable. I'm now in the same boat. My 14 year old does not want to share sleeping quarters with his brother, so my family of 4 will be requesting a day bed for future trips!

3. Not that I'm aware of. But I sometimes google "Hidden Mickeys" to find lists of HM in various locations.

BTW- I have you on the noodle list, but not on the guest list. Would you like to provide your dates?

Totally NOT nuts (says one of your imaginary friends here on the boards)

:worship:

This is a brilliant plan!

We will be at the Beach Club in our first ever CL room from Aug 23 thru August 28th!!! I am having trouble concentrating on anything else and am driving my DH nuts!!

Can someone tell me about the noodle swap? We love noodles but I can't figure out how to bring them with us on the plane!

Brilliant? LOL I like it! Thanks! Yay! Plus, doing Soarin then will make our next day so much easier. We plan on EP RD, but now instead of riding and then getting FPs I think I will just get FPs.

I'm not involved in the swap, but we plan to buy some at SAB. When we leave a week later, I'm hoping to find a family checking in and give them away.

11 days to go!!:woohoo:

I am really looking forward to our stay. Especially knowing I will not be staying there again until next year.:( We bought APs and are planning on several trips down so DH and I just can't justify the cost of BC for a two night stay. We have booked a RR at POR in Sept. for MNSSHP. We still have to decide on where to stay for Oct. and Nov. but I know I don't want to go back to value so we will see what we can come up with. I hope we are not disappointed but I figure since it's only two nights each time, we will probably be in commando mode anyway. So I plan on soaking up every great BC moment I can on this trip and hope that it will be enough to carry me until spring break, which is when I hope I can return to BC.:goodvibes

In the meantime, I am also trying to resist the urge to do online check in tomorrow. I have done it in the past but since I added a full balcony request this trip, I am taking all of the wonderful advice on this thread and waiting to check in when we arrive.

Thank you for all of the live updates from those that are there now. I really enjoy reading how your days are going. To those on their way, travel safe and have a great time!
