145 Middle Schoolers: Wicked Awesome or Epic Fail???DeParting-Such Sweet Sorrow p. 76

Thanks!

I really did enjoy this class, and I know when I spoke to the administrators and teachers afterwards, they were impressed, too.

As to where we go next, my next update is "May the Force Be With Me", so...

:rolleyes1 That's what I get for going on the DIS before coffee........:headache:

Sounds like a great day at DHS!!!
My older 2 love RnR. Zachary isn't tall enough yet. Which means we can still baby swap and the big kids can ride twice. :thumbsup2
Now if only we could get them to plug their ears and eyes for the pre-show to ToT.... :rotfl2:

I enjoyed reading your reviews of both classes. The Imagineering class at DHS sounds like something my DS (and I) would enjoy. ToT is my all time favorite ride!!:thumbsup2 I'm curious what, if any feedback you got from the kids about the classes. Even though I asked my DS13 if he wanted to switch our class (Energy and Waves on 8/20) He didn't want to. He is determined to do the behind the scenes of HM. Of course it is too late to change now anyway. At least we won't be going into it with high expectations.;)

Great update! Tell Ben that if I (the ride chicken to end all ride chickens) can conquer RnR, then he definitely can.::yes::

Shhhhh. Don't tell anyone, but I'm thinking about trying Expedition Everest in October. :scared1:

First, love the message from Alex. I'm fortunate to love my work and while I can talk to the boys about that, there's nothing like hearing it from a Disney imagineer!

RnR - very cool! The boys love that one, too. I've done it several times and I love the ride, but can't handle the "closed in" feeling before it takes off and when it stops. A few rides ago, we were stuck in our seats after it stopped and it was very stressful - I had to reach for my bag and look at photos to keep from getting too anxious.

Missyrose, I highly recommend Everest - it's my second favorite thrill ride after ToT!

Here's another GO BEN! If he doesn't make it by October, we may need to take him in flat form!

I have been there before!!!

:surfweb:

Hope you didn't mind the friendly teasing! ;)

I think the pre-show for ToT is what does Ben in, too.

It cracks me up that Nathaniel and Jessica love RnR!

I haven't really gotten opinions from the students' perspectives. I'm not allowed to discuss the trip with Nate (he is in denial that I was there) and I certainly am not permitted to speak to his friends!

But what I will say about the Energy and Waves class is that I think the actual between attraction explanations of the various lessons was excellent. A very good use of discussion and props to explain the principles of light and sound energy. I was mainly disappointed that Stitch and Philharmagic were the attractions used to reinforce the concepts. Especially when previous classes from our school enjoyed the 3 mountains when learing about the Physics of Motion!

I'll be interested to hear your take on the class, and your son's.

See, that's the thing. I don't like big drops. So I've avoided Splash Mountain and ToT like the plague. My DBF has been trying to convince me the drop coming out of Everest isn't that bad. I don't know if I believe him. :lmao:

You guys snuck in while I was posting!

Oh, fingers crossed for you!!! EE is so fun! And visually stunning! I have a lot of pictures from the ride, although it is still awhile before we get there.

I think Ben will do RnR, whenever we end up back at Disney. He did Dueling Dragons when we were at Islands of Adventure, and although it scared the living daylights out of him, he knows he can do inversions now.

It was really cool listening to Alex. I knew that morning which attractions we were doing (the chaperones who were not on the tour wanted to know so they could collect the correct FP while we were in class), but I didn't know about meeting the Imagineer.

I was definitely enjoying this Y.E.S. class experience much more than the previous day. That's the way to get a couple of the headliners done!

I'm with you. Expedition Everest Rocks!

Oh, Ben would love to come along on your trip in flat form. I could even make a costume for "him" for MNSSHP!

I think I would rank the drops, from less intense to most:

EE
Splash
ToT- this has multiple drops so I would say this is the "droppiest"

As Richard Dryfess says in "What About Bob?"- Baby Steps

I always wanted to be at a HS that did this. You all are brave chaperones, but sounds like you had a great time!

RnR is one of my Disney favorites! Can't wait to take DD on it this year. She was too small our last trip but she rode California Screamin' at DLR last year and loved it so I know she'll have a blast!

I would so love to see "Flat Ben" complete in Halloween costume. We are heading to MNSSHP 10/23 and could take him along if pixarmom doesn't! I'm sure he'd love to be in pictures with my princesses!

RnRC is definitely one of Disney's "big kid" rides! :goodvibes

We are very fortunate that our school makes this trip every year. I hope they continue until my youngest son is scheduled to go.

Sounds like you have a little daredevil on your hands! I hope your daughter can ride on your upcoming trip.

It would be really cool for "Flat Ben" to make a trip to Disney. I'm sure that won't satisfy "Real Ben", but it would still be fun!

Do you have a family costume theme?

Love seeing the bonus pictures! Thanks. :)

You are welcome! I hope you are able to experience RnRC on a future trip!

If Ben wants to got to the Dis Pin Meet, I will bring him along? we will be in Disney 9/2 to 9/9. :goodvibes

I love that picture of Aerosmith. I often snap a picture of it on the way out!

When the Y.E.S class ended around 11:20, we met up with the other chaperones in our group. They had a productive morning- we were now the proud owners of FP for Toy Story Mania (12:30 to 1:30) and RnR (1:30 to 2:30).

We headed toward the Indiana Jones theatre to see if we could get into the 11:30 show, but they were no longer letting guests into the stadium.

So we decided to visit a galaxy far, far, away. Well, not really all that far away.

A few of the boys in our group are really into Star Wars, so they were looking forward to Star Tours and the gift shop afterwards.

We queued up in Endor (the forest is surprisingly warm this time of year) and had about a 15-20 minute wait.

Love the theming of the queue! Especially once you get inside.

Once again, we told the attraction CM we were a party of 20. We loaded into the ride and I took my first voyage after the refurb. One of our students was the rebel spy. We only rode this once, so I didn’t get to experience any other versions. The film looked really good, but I had a little more trouble with nausea than I remembered from past voyages. That could have had something to do with needing to eat something.

After the ride, a couple of the boys wanted to linger in Tatoonie Traders and assemble their own light sabers, so two of the chaperones stayed behind with those kids. I gave them their lunch tickets.

The rest of our group was getting hungry and if you are familiar with teenage boys, you know that is a dangerous situation! As we watched a few minutes of the Jedi Training Academy, we discussed lunch plans for lunch.
