free tickets to Kennedy Space Center

On June 20, I sent our request for four passes on Dec 23 to Rep. Aaron Schock's office and got quick acknowledgements (e-mail and phone call) of our request. Still waiting to see if we get them or not. Will post whatever response we get.

On September 13, we heard back from Congressman Schock's office that we had four Complimentary Maximum Access Tickets reserved for December 23. They are actually good for two days of admission, and must be used within 7 days of first use. Other details, including a confirmation number to be used when picking up the tickets, were included as well.

Counting down the days!

I have to thank my congressman and the DIS boards! We got tix! :yay:

After several dead ends, emailed from the congressman's website, got a reply no. Called back, someone transferred to someone else, got a no again from that person, or actually he said they used to, but don't do it anymore.
I left saying thank you, but if you hear of anything else, please let me know. A couple weeks later, I received an email saying he will get them, and just today got the confirmation note from him from Kennedy Space Center with a confirmation number for the 4 maximum full access tickets! We're planning to go to US/IOA/DisHollywood & Kennedy prior to our 4 day Dream cruise Jan 29th! We're so excited!!!!

Thank you to all who left notes, and good luck to those who are trying to get them!

We got 4 tickets thanks to Senator McCains office.

Pretty painless process, but there is a limited number of tickets available from NASA and they do run out.

Just wanted to tell anyone who is hopeful for tix in 2012, that we received our confirmation e-mail today that we will received full access tix for 2 days for our upcoming trip in February. I am so excited because my son is in the Young Astronauts program at school and he is going to love this!

Good Luck to anyone who is hoping/wanting tickets!!! :)

I wanted to thank the OP for this info and all the suggestions and recommendations from other posters! We booked the Disney Dream last April so I've been "saving" this information until my 6 month window was open to request the tickets.

WOW - it worked!! I sent an email right after New Years and w/in days I had an email response back from the representative and she advised she had contacted KSC and lined up tickets for us and would keep me posted. She wrote back again later that same day confirming the tickets for the day we needed were reserved and once she had the actual confirmation number she would forward that to me.

I'm so thrilled as we were going to do this no matter what and I was "hopeful" we'd get the tickets, but not relying on them. What a chunk to save for the three of us!! We are so excited to do this as both my son and husband love all things space related and we love learning and seeing new things. We are actually going to Port Canaveral two days ahead of the cruise departure so we can take advantage of KSC.

Good luck to others - it does happen! :thumbsup2

Thanks again OP! :flower3:

Well I just emailed my congressman Murphy of PA.

Made sure in email to compliment their email newsletter he puts out and that I heard the congressional Nasa lieasion has these tx available to constituients. Hoping the combo of buttering up staff ;)and knowledge of the department that hands out the tix will increase my chances of getting tickets for early June. Now lets see if pixie dust works in DCpixiedust:

2 weeks ago I contacted our Congressman, Ken Calvert about tickets, off his website. A few days later I received a call from his Washington D.C. office! But his office said they didn't have any tickets, maybe not till July... Our cruise is in May. :sad1::sad1: So no Kennedy Space trip this time. My advice is ask early, way before your cruise. 4 months out wasn't enough here.

It looks like at the 6 month mark right at availability is when they go. Sorry you missed out.

I have to say, because of this board we heard of this. I decided to give it a shot and contacted our congressman (in NC) and they responded in about a day that they'd be happy to help. We're cruising the day after DH's b'day so thanks to their efforts, we'll now be spending my DH's b'day at KSC. She said they'd be back in touch about a few weeks before our scheduled date in May with more details.

Thanks all for the tips.

Thanks for posting this. Our cruise isn't till November, but I contacted our Congresswoman and spoke to a very nice woman who took my information and said she will hold on to it and try to request it on the 6 month mark. Crossing my fingers that it happens.

Contacted my congressman to get tickets to the white house and bureau of engraving and printing. After having success there I asked about Kennedy for spring break. They told me they only handle launch tickets...ugh.

ok the staff does know the space shuttle is no longer running hence no Launch tickets.

Just saw this thread for the first time since our cruise in June. We went through such hoops to get these tickets, plus we paid for an additional ticket to boot. After all of that, the kids kept asking, "is this all it is? when can we leave?" Poetic irony..... We went as soon as we left the ship that morning after disembarkation...may have been a logistical miscalculation:confused:

Ok, I'm pushing my congressman for tickets and they asked me where I heard about getting them so they could call and check on it. Can someone that was successful let me know who you got them from so I can put her on the right track? Preferably someone in NY since I already told her that is where I heard about it :)

Thanks!

I emailed my congressman about a week ago asking about tickets, including in my email that I knew my state (Missouri) had offered it in the past, and just got an email back today that we will get 4 free tickets. Here is the email I received, it includes what was sent from the congressman's office to the NASA contact person, so hopefully that can help someone!
Thanks again to the OP, this has saved our family a fair amount of money since we were planning to go and pay full price!

I submitted your request to Kennedy Space Center and received the message below. They are able to provide 4 tickets for zxxxxxx, but state that the fifth ticket must be purchased.

Please let me know if this will work and once we have received the confirmation information, we will forward it to you.

Sincerely,

Sara

Here is part of the email response from Senator McCains office.

NASA’s Office of Legislative & Intergovernmental Affairs does take requests for complimentary tour tickets to the Kennedy Space Center.

You need to get in touch with the tour coordinator at your senators office. Let them know that you are trying to get tickets to KSC and that they do take these requests (up to 4 tickets) and one they have gont through their allotment for the time period you want them, then you will be told there are no more.

Apprently it is not something the staff is all aware of. I had to explain it to them, and once they found out about the NASA office that handled thee requests, it was smooth sailing.

So who did you end up contacted to get them?
I think I'm gonna try too!
