Favorite Songs that most people have probably never heard of

Mine are...

The Seventh Stranger by Duran Duran&
the entire Stealing Home soundtrack

That song is so beautiful...I love it, too! But I think my absolute favorite Duran Duran song is "Out of My Mind." Even if it isn't "original" Duran Duran.

I also love "Charlotte Sometimes" by The Cure.

Also a fan of CS!

Another fave is the Eels "In the Yard, Behind the Church"

Okay here's one that if any single person on this thread has heard of I will be REALLY completely shocked...

Museum Piece---Five Fishermen.

Love that song. Local band. But they did put out a CD. :rotfl:

Unless you lived in Pittsburgh or the Ohio Valley in the early 80s, you probably don't know the song Ah! Leah! by Donnie Iris. Excellent power pop/New Wave song that always takes me back to my high school days when I hear it.

Have not heard that in years.

What about some Michael Stanley Band? My hubby still has a greatest hits CD around here.

One song that I remember from when I was little that I still find myself singing sometimes:

Una Paloma Blanca

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hlk9EFSNQBQ

(songs starts at :47)

I still have the 45 that my dad bought me when I was a little.

The Last Resort- The Eagles

Awesome song!!

A song that I really like (although I wouldn't say I love it) is Cum on Feel the Noize by Slade, which is the original. Most people know the Quiet Riot remake, but most people don't realize that it wasn't the original.

Same song, two TOTALLY different styles. I prefer QR's version, but the Slade one is fun too.

So is Mama Weer All Crazee Now. Like you, I prefer Quiet Riot's versions of these songs, but it's fun to hear the originals.

What are some of your favorite songs that most people have probably never heard of? Some of mine...

San Francisco - Brett Dennen
Sunday Clothes - Charlie Sexton Sextet
Misguided Angel - Cowboy Junkies
Hell On The Throat - Dashboard Confessional
Stable Song - Death Cab For Cutie
God Gave Me You - Frijid Pink
Johnny Appleseed - Joe Strummer
California Soul - Marlena Shaw
California - Mindy Gledhill
Something in the Air - Thunderclap Newman

With the advent of downloading I don't really pay attention to song titles anymore so with that said

Any song off the Damien Rice album "O" He is an Irish folk singer and his songs are depressing and beautiful and I love all the lyrics.

The following songs from the Tragically Hip "Depression Suite, Nautical Disaster, In View, 38 years old"

"Cooling" from Tori Amos

"Anna Begins" Counting Crows.

I like several songs by The Violent Femmes... :thumbsup2 Takes me back to college!

I really loved them in college. I've listened to them recently and couldn't believe how "bad" some of their songs were. Guess they were trying for shock value. But they were catchy :goodvibes. And cool.

I have their song Stay on my ipod. That's a great one also that most haven't heard of.

Great song! I kind of forgot about it, but I used to have it on a mix tape back in the day.

Jolene- as covered by Mindy Smith
China- Tori Amos
Wuthering Heights- Kate Bush
Helplessly Hoping- CS&N
A TON of Beatles that never got airplay
A Sort of A Protest Song- Matthew Good Band
A Month of Sundays (and then it fades into "Sunset Grill"- Don Henley
Sweet Jane- Cowboy Junkies
Mary Jane- Alanis Morissette
The Last Resort- The Eagles
Bad- U2

"Heavenly widened roses seem to whisper to me when you smile"....great lyric! Great song!

Any song by Joshua Kadison. I LOVE him but not too many ppl even know who he is.

Jessie is one of my favorite songs ever. It makes me cry every time!

Kirsty MacColl was great. Don't care much for In These Shoes, but I love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fwtFSEovro (possibly because Billy Bragg's a favorite of mine).

Saw a few of your picks and we definitely like the same stuff! :thumbsup2. I interviewed Billy Bragg twice and he played an impromptu acoustic show in my hometown in the late 1980s for only about 100 people. I can still hear the crowd singing The Internationale along with him... He was on vacation and was kind enough to do the show as a benefit. Second favorite show ever - fave was David Bowie at our tiny arena in 1990. My head almost exploded.

Fave song, bar none, is Bowie's Life on Mars.

I also come back to the Jayhawks song Blue for some reason.

Thought of a few more:

"AntiSocial" by Trust....everyone thinks this song is an Anthrax original and they are wrong haha This song sounds so much better in French :goodvibes
"I Can't See My Feelings" by Budgie
"Call Me" by Diamond Head
"Kill The King" by Rainbow ...RIP Ronnie James Dio :worship::worship::worship::worship::worship:
"Charon" by King Diamond :worship::worship::worship:
"Purgatory" by Iron Maiden :worship::worship::worship:
