TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

:hug:I know how hard that was, I was very close to my enell, and recently found a moving comfort that supports and looks a little more flattering. Good luck with the champion.

Thanks Sue. It was just awesome. I guess that's why I keep going back. Hope you're not working too hard. It felt so nice and warm today!! Can't wait for spring.

I'm doing pretty well. I'm down 4 pounds, but some of that was vacation regain, which will be going. I'm still feeling motivated to lose some weight, and work on increasing my speed with the run/walking, and doing some shorter, local races this spring and summer. Emotionally, I'm much stronger and happier than I was last year at this time, and in feeling that way, I know I will be able to succeed at the weight loss again.

I've played some head games with the scale, but over time have come to realize that if the number on the scale is down even thought I've eaten more than I should, I can't continue to eat out of control without it catching up with me. As well as if I'm on track, and don't see a loss or see a gain, I know it's not real, it's fluid retention, or hormones, and I know that I need to stay with the plan, and not give up and say it doesn't matter. I have never been one of those people who go to ww and say, "I had a gain, I don't know how I did that." But in saying that, I still step on the scale every day. So it doesn't control me, but I do like having the control of knowing where I stand. If it's starting to creep up, it will help me to reel things in.

.

That is what I keep telling myself. That is why I kept my actual number goals so modest and wanted to focus on other things instead - being consistent being the main goal.

I can imagine it must have been pretty hard to do that reading and see YOURSELF in it. But good for you for acknowledging the problem and seeking help. That is the key!

Okay.... I realize I am just yammering here! You'all don't need to read my "stream of consciousness" thinking here! I'll be back when I have something important to chat about!!:rotfl: ........................P

Pjlla, it was, as Oprah said, an "ah ha moment" for sure - it had a profound effect on me. But for the good overall.

By the way, please come back and "yammer" soon lol. Everything you say is important

Linda

:tinker::donald:

Okay, this one is going to be kind of a two parter, because I am on so late and may not get back on til tomorrow this time.

Sorry, guys, it is just touch during the day *** I am in court a lot

We are halfway, we are "taking inventory", seeing how we are doing and trying to conquer the "scale demons" (I call my eating disorder my lion - and have named it "Scar" from the Lion King) - now do you have some concrete plans to move on to the finish?

Do you have a set plan?

If so, what steps are you going to follow, this week perhaps, to put it in motion.

For me, my first race is on May 22nd. Since the Disney 5k in January, I have just tried to stay consistent.

But I need to move beyond that - I need to do some serious training soon.

So for this week, I will:

a) carefully focus on mileage each workout

b) Chart food every day (plan at least the night before)

c) Try to do the HH challenge - that stuff is really excellent (have only really looked at it for the first time since I started "coaching") and exactly the kind of lifestyle changes I am looking for.

I would just be interested in knowing what some of you are doing.

Have a great night!

Linda

Is there anybody out there?

Need some weigh ins!!!!!! I only have 13 weigh ins so far from Team DONALD!!!

The boards are still active!!!! Please send in your weigh ins by Monday at 7:30PM

Opps- Realized it may be in the middle of my work week but its the weekend to everyone else..:rotfl:

Well.... since I have been at this for several years now, it is hard for me to look at it as "halfway" to anything. These challenges are just another way for me to help stay OP and on track. But I don't use the start (or end) of them as anything "special" in my journey.

As far as a set plan.... mostly I just have my long-term plan of continuing to count my points DAILY and journal my food every day and to exercise a minimum of four days per week. That has been the status quo for pretty much three years now.

As far as a plan for this week.... nothing special in mind, but when I have had particularly trying weeks in the past, or a week when I am trying to achieve a particular goal, I will write up a specific eating plan and exercise plan for that week, post it on the fridge, and use it as a check list for the week.

I ended up making a pizza for the family tonight (DD had a craving).... but it was pretty lousy. I was using a crust recipe I got from allrecipes.com a few years ago. I've used the crust for breakfast pizza, but never for "regular" pizza. It ended up pretty soggy. It was low-cal and I measured my cheese portion carefully, so it wasn't off the charts or anything, but it was so lousy I shouldn't have bothered to even eat it after the first piece. DD thought it was so-so, DS liked it, and I didn't get a reaction from DH. I'll save the recipe, but mark it for "breakfast pizza only".

I made my couscous salad today..... YUMMMMMM! I had a half portion for an afternoon snack... definitely on the menu for lunch tomorrow.

Well..... kids go back to school tomorrow, which probably means back to work for me.:sad2: oh well.

Well... I'm not feeling particularly sleepy (darn that iced coffee at 10:30 am!), but I need to put my head on my pillow in case I get called to work at 5:30.

I'll be back to talk tomorrow. G'night all!..........................P

Good morning Team Donald.

Sorry I didn't get on this weekend. Busy with the muscial at the local high school. Crowds are growing and and the kids have done a great job. But I have been very busy with this and am very tired. They have one rehersal Thursday night without costumes so I don't have to go so I can go to yoga.

Today I have a great deal of paperwork to do and then have my last math meet today. So it will be a long day.

I hope everyone in the northeast is safe. we got a great deal of rain last night. We got some water in the basement and I was mopping up water at 10 last night. BY 11:30 it had stopped raining so the water stopped coming in. We caught it before it got too bad.

Sorry I can't respond to everyone. With the storm last night my internet got kicked off line and I was just able to get it fixed.

Stay safe out there people north of me.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Had my first meal at a restaurant since starting this and im very pleased. Went to applebees and i got one of the 550 calorie or less meals. I got the dijon chicken. I didnt even eat the potatoes that came with it
Great work on the good choices out to eat. That can be so challenging, especially at that time of the month.:thumbsup2

I You should be so proud of DS! And especially proud since he was such a gracious loser last year. DD got her HS swim team sportsmanship award last year and I was SO PROUD! I've told both of my kids..... I am pleased when they get recognized for school/activity accomplishments.... but I'm even MORE pleased when they get recognized for being GOOD PEOPLE! That is SO MUCH MORE important in the long run, dontcha think?? We are raising GOOD PEOPLE! Proud momma moment for you!!
Thanks pamela. I was so proud of him last year, he was so gracious. Funny last year, we went back for the finals and the awards to cheer everyone on, knowing he wasn't getting one, but this year, a boy in his den left early during their races because his car wasn't doing well, and the dad was mad he couldn't fix the wheel after the inspection. Another boy was crying he didn't get a trophy, so when I see things like that, I feel like I am doing a good job. We are definitely raising good people. :thumbsup2

Good job using exercise to boost your mood! I did this the other day.... was feeling in a bit of a funk.... and decided to pull out the TM and take a walk (still to yucky here to walk outside.... slush, puddles, snowbanks, etc). After 30 minutes I was so happy with myself for making that decision! It made the whole day better! (It is warm enough to walk outside today, but pouring rain.)

How does your body react to all those carbs? When I eat like that now, I feel like I have lead in my system for DAYS afterwards. It is SO not worth it anymore (well, except for movie popcorn!:rotfl2: ) ...P
Actually, I don't usually feel too bad unless I eat huge amounts. I think I've been on a cycle of a good week or two, followed by a not good week or two, and in doing so, I haven't really been in a good eating pattern faithfully for a while. Though before my trip, I did eat really well for about 3 weeks, and I did feel really good and I had more energy. It was good to get out yesterday, and I was definitely more patient. Ds had a slow adjustment back to reality, and it was hard to have such a busy week and not really have much down time til yesterday. Good for you for getting on the treadmill. That is some motivation in my book. During my training, I did the treadmill a few times, but preferred getting outside no matter how cold it was, as long as it wasn't icy.

Is there anybody out there?

Sorry tracey. Sent my pm. Thanks for the reminder for all of us forgetful losers. And thank you for being our weightkeepre.:flower3:
well OK. I wasn't going to weigh in but I will! LOL
:lmao:

Good going! Hate that time of month thing. I laugh when I think about it. We had one lone guy in our WW class once and, to him, that time of the month was when his mortgage payments were due!
:rotfl2:

I am going to cook healthy meals, journal my food, drink my water, and get out for a run/walk at least 3 days a week, and do some form of exercise 5 days total.
Coming down from my disney princess high, I have decided that I will do a five mile road race in my town that we have during our family festival week before the fourth of july. My goal for running until then is to work on my speed, and I know that losing more weight will help with that, too.
I got a new princess running shirt that is a little too snug, so I want to wear that this summer.

bummer on the pizza, but that couscous salad sounds intriguing. Is it on the bl recipe thread? I need to get more adventurous with my cooking. I'll have to go over there and check out some new recipes.

Hi Dona. You always are so busy. Glad you can get your yoga in once this week. Sounds like you got slammed. We seem to be just rain, and not too bad, but I am bad because I read your post, and thought I'm going to finish posting and then check my basement. I have a sump pump, and am used to getting water, but need to trun on the dehumidifier. I still have a ton of snow in the yard. Spring can't be too far off.

Have a great monday everyone!! I'm going to check the basement now before I go to any other threads. ;)

I had a bad eating weekend. I was away and did not stay on track. I have to make up for it by being extra careful this week.

I'm pleased to hear that your show is drawing bigger crowds now. Bummer about the water in the basement. Glad you got a handle on it. Today is supposed to be a bit dryer... hopefully that will help.

Thanks pamela. I was so proud of him last year, he was so gracious. We've had situations like that at robotics tournaments. Teams that thought that they weren't in the running for any awards just leave before the awards ceremony. I think that is just so unfair. And you know what? We have won in the past when we haven't expected to, so you never know what will happen! And that "mad dad".... what a terrible example to set for the boys.

Actually, I don't usually feel too bad unless I eat huge amounts. Getting back to "real life" after a Disney trip is SO HARD!

I honestly prefer the TM this time of year. I live in the boondocks.... we have no sidewalks and HUGE snowbanks (and now puddles too). It is just too risky to run outside. But I am definitely craving a warm day to hit the pavement! I think it will be a few weeks away still, but I KNOW I'll love it when it gets here. I NEED SPRING!!

I am going to cook healthy meals, journal my food, drink my water, and get out for a run/walk at least 3 days a week, and do some form of exercise 5 days total.

Why not make some tentative plans NOW for next year's Princess half? That would definitely keep up the motivation factor!!

I think I posted it on the BL recipe thread, but I'm not sure. I'll check and if it isn't there, I'll add it.

Have a great monday everyone!! I'm going to check the basement now before I go to any other threads. ;)

Hope the basement was dry!

Happy rainy Monday morning all you big losers!! If you haven't sent in your weight to Tracey, please go do it NOW!!

I DID NOT get called to work today..... very surprised about that. But I have plenty to get done around here.

(**She pauses to sigh over the soundtrack to WISHES soundtrack that just started on DISradio :lovestruc)

Which reminds me.... DD and I are down to about 58 days until our trip.... not that we're counting or excited or anything!!:woohoo:

Anyone know of a good place to buy Disney t-shirts? DD and I would like to wear matching t-shirts for our trip. We currently own 2 sets of matching t-shirts, but since I wore mine during my trip with DS last year, I would like to have new ones for this year. I checked Disneystore.com, but didn't find much of anything that I really loved. I might check Kohl's this week, as I know I have found cute ones there in the past. We did buy a set at the local Disney store last week.... black with a silver Mickey.... but we need a few more.

Well.... DH is awake so the TM is available, so I'll get going here. I'll be around to chatter later!....................P

Can't wait until we merge together so I can keep up with some old friends again! I've missed you all!!!!

Keep those weigh ins coming! I hope to get the results in later tonight or tomorrow morning. I have to take Ash to dancing tonight and then math night at her school until about 8 so hopefully I can get stuff done after then.

Need willpower tonight!!!

Today is DD's birthday. She ordered a chocolate cake with Rapunzel on it.

Do not let me eat a ton of cake!!!!

The Applebee's I went to did have some weight watchers meals but not many. I searched all the 550 and under meals on my sparkpeople Iphone app and the one I picked seemed to be the best for me all around... and it was delicious too lol

Well I had another episode last night like I did the other day. the episode that started me on this journey. I got light headed and my nose and lips were tingly and my fingers and toes were cold and my face was burning up and my heart was racing. I don't know what is causing them but I am off to the doctors on Wednesday to hopefully find out. Scary

I don't have any great suggestions to get past the cake. I find that I need to have NONE.... cause one or two bites will lead to more and more and more. Last time we had cake in the house I had a chocolate Vitamuffin.... warmed up with a small drizzle of caramel over it. It hit the spot and I really didn't miss the cake. That said.... I'm not a huge cake fan and I really don't like frosting at all, so maybe that made it easy for me.

Good luck, no matter what!

Thank you. I will definitely update when I find anything out. hopefully I can get some answers.

My husband thinks it might be anemia. I've had a history of that before and the symptoms fit so hopefully I just need to get more iron in my diet and it's nthing TOO serious

Good afternoon TEAM DONALD!

Do you have a set plan?

If so, what steps are you going to follow, this week perhaps, to put it in motion.

My overall set plan is eat less, exercise more, keep moving forward. That being said I will be switching off WW at the end of the month back to sparkpeople because I don't want to spend the money. I think that I can do just as well as I have been and can always switch back if I don't.

To keep OP this week I will:
-- journal every day
-- run 3 times this week

My bigger picture goals are to hit ONE-derland before this challenge is over and 186 (so I will be at the top end of "overweight" by the end of July). Both doable if I keep OP.

Let me now how the magic bullet is., I had always thought about getting one. Wasnt sure how they would be to clean up

Add another family that is a fan of the Magic Bullet -- holds up to 11 year olds making their own stuff! :thumbsup2 Easy to clean up -- just run it through the dishwasher.

Hi! I'm a (late) loser. I have many half-hearted attempts behind, but my last trip to the doctors gave me a nasty shock.

Sorry about the nasty shock at the doctor's office but :welcome:!

Lisa, I'm sorry I missed saying "Happy Birthday" to you when we saw you. What a great birthday weekend!!!

:wave2: Hi Jude! So nice to see you last week even if it was only for a few minutes. Actually the birthday girl last week was Kathy. :goodvibes It's not every week that you can be the birthday girl and a princess too! princess:

And speaking of the birthday girl, Kathy, hope that you didn't find any surprises in your basement! :flower3:

Hope that your basement dried out, dona! :flower3:

We've done some chit-chatting on here before about meal planning and a bunch of us contributed our "systems" for planning meals. Not sure if you are looking for any new ideas, but someone could find those posts for you if you are interested. It DEFINITELY makes life SO MUCH EASIER! I have a HATE of cooking..... combine that with a busy schedule, several food allergies/issues, and the fact that we live 40 minutes from the nearest take-out/fast food/grocery store, and you can see why I need to plan ahead!

Are you looking for a way to plan ahead or just recipes???

If you are looking for a great plan, pjlla, is the go-to gal for coming up with very detailed, specific plans. She's has great success with her plans so when pjlla talks I listen! :goodvibes

I had a bad eating weekend. I was away and did not stay on track. I have to make up for it by being extra careful this week.

You're back on track and that is half the battle! :thumbsup2

You might try Wal-Mart. Just be careful because some of their shirts can really shrink. Maybe Kathy will tell you where she got her Mickey tie dye shirts -- they were very cute and they had a lot of compliments on them.

Can't wait until we merge together so I can keep up with some old friends again! I've missed you all!!!!

It will be nice when we are all together again! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about your episode. Good thing that you are getting it checked out! :flower3:

Have a great day DONALDS! :donald:

And just like that I'm OFF the workout wagon:sad2: Ten disks in my set and disk number 4 gets to 13 minutes through and becomes unplayable. Tried wiping it a couple of times and NO change:headache: Now i have to return it and decide if i want an exchange or not.:furious:

Its going to Collage so no problems switching it out despite the copyright laws. Don't ask me how they deal with it, but I have the choice of a completely new workout.

Wasn't loving the first 3 disks mind you, but I was liking this 1. Now I'm debating on playing the other 6 and seeing if its worth a straight exchange or do i want something new. So damn hard to make a decision in the first place now i gotta pay shipping charges back.

Why can't Zappos sell workout videos?

As for the race to Onederland, unless a miracle occurs(NOT likely) I'm withdrawing.

PM sent with weight to Tracy

Hope everybody else is having a better day than me.

So who does what workout videos here? I need suggestions.

Not a fan of Jillian or Bob. Don't like them enough to buy their stuff.

Sorry that I am not able to get on more during the day.

Really tough day - couple of trials coming up, very stressful.

Helps to read such wonderful thoughts and suggestions from you all.

I really hope to keep up with this thread, now that I am getting a taste of doing it every day

Well judging by those pictures, it is sure working!

Thanks - using these challenges to get support and stay on track sounds like a fabulous idea. I have been involved in them, on and off, for a couple of years - first time I have been staying with it. So far so good...

:rotfl2:

You have a great plan for success. What kind of a race are you doing in may?
;)

I am doing another 5k - aiming for a faster time and, at the very least, being able to do it all in one swoop without stopping. I have been "pre training" and will start "in earnest" training next Monday.

It is right here,Halifax. I will do another 5k in June, a five miler in August in my home town of Saint John, New Brunswick and a 10 k in Iceland with Team Diabetes.

I like to distance walk, despite my size. I weighed nearly 360 lbs when I started.

I had a bad eating weekend. I was away and did not stay on track. I have to make up for it by being extra careful this week.

And you will. Take one day at a time - glad to see you pop in. :thumbsup2

Need willpower tonight!!!

Today is DD's birthday. She ordered a chocolate cake with Rapunzel on it.

Do not let me eat a ton of cake!!!!

Decide how much (if anything) you will eat and just put the rest away.

Are there kids coming to share - send away most of the leftovers.

Celebration cake is a real hot spot with me - not so much chocolate. I actually prefer the white, with the rich icing. A piece sat in front of me last Friday at the birthday party (after I had eaten what I decided to eat) and it was tough. I did not partake, but I stared at it like it were Brad Pitt handing me his room key.

Let us know how you make out.

I agree that a substitute can help. I bake chocolate cake with low fat brownie mix and 3 (almost 4) cups of original All Bran. A bit of that is pretty low point (if you bake it into 24 cupcakes it used to be one point each - add icing, another .5 to one point) Don't know what it is now. I don't understand the new program.

We cannot get Vitamuffins up here.

I am afraid that I am a real sucker for the icing, as I said above.

Thank you. I will definitely update when I find anything out. hopefully I can get some answers.

My husband thinks it might be anemia. I've had a history of that before and the symptoms fit so hopefully I just need to get more iron in my diet and it's nthing TOO serious

Please let us know, prayers are coming your way.

Sorry for being a bit behind on this guys.

I may even put on two Wednesday night. I am doing a trial out of town all day Thursday (six hours round trip at least) so I may not get on all on Thursday.

So who does what workout videos here? I need suggestions.

Not a fan of Jillian or Bob. Don't like them enough to buy their stuff.

This question actually gave me the idea for QOTD.

I really don't do workout videos, except Biggest Loser Powerwalk and Wii Fit (sort of), does anyone else?

I do find, however, that I get inspiration from reading books and articles about running and reading more (law books do not count) was one of my new year's goals.

Do you folks like to read? If so, do you have a favourite book/video?

I even like movies/documentaries about running. Love "Run Fatboy Run" and the "Spirit of the Marathon" in particular.

My friend offered to put a picture of the Donald medal on a spatula and whack me with it i.e. Run Fatboy Run lol.

If I am repeating questions, sorry.

Have a wonderful evening/day folks.

Will try to get on some time tomorrow afternoon, as may be going out in the evening.
