Yuengling

Yuengling AND Sam Adams are pretty mediocre beers and nothing special, really. I suppose they are moderately better than Bud Light, but if it's something I can find at every gas station and supermarket-- cheap-- in Georgia, then I'm not overly impressed. ;)

They are both light years ahead of Bud Light by any stretch.

What kind of beer do you like?

Just a friendly recommendation: If you like Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale, you would freaking adore Dogfish Head Brewery's 60 Minute IPA.

I'm a big fan of Sierra's offerings. It's one of the better breweries overall in the states, but the 60 Minute IPA is the best pale ale I've ever had. Sierra Nevada's "Torpedo" Ale is the only thing that I've had that comes close.

It's out of Delaware and not the largest brewery, so you'd pretty much only find from New York to DC, but if you ever come across it, it's well worth whatever price they want for it.

Thanks - I'll look out for it.

I believe the Kirin sold at Epcot (and throughout N. America) is actually brewed by Molson -- it's not the same Kirin you get in Japan. Not sure about the others, but they're all easily and readily available to me in NY. I don't particularly mind any of them, but they're nothing special, either.

There's a lot of really, really good beer in the world. And none of it is in the World.

I agree - beers brewed locally 'under licence' are all to common now.
The Spaten Optimator is not locally available to me, so I always seek that out in Epcot, but probably half the appeal is those big steins they serve it in :drinking1

What kind of beer do you like?

Favorite breweries for me are Bell's, Terrapin, Magic Hat, Victory.

The Universal Resorts actually had a local brew: Orlando Pale. We also found it at Raglan Road. Very good!

Yuengling is a decently mediocre beer. Sad thing is, that immediately puts it at the front of the pack of the limited selection you'll find at WDW.

I really wish they'd serve more unique beers there, especially at Epcot. Such a missed opportunity...[/QUOTE]

I still miss the Tennant's Lager they served in the R&C pub...great beer and one of the missed opportunities you speak of. It was the only place in the USA that I could find that served it.

According to ALLEars is it available as a draft at the ESPN Zone on the Boardwalk.

Drinking some Sam Octoberfest tonite--it's pretty good.

Mayor: You can (or at least you could) get Anchor Steam at the California Grill

We've found Sam Adams at a lot of places in WDW.

Sam Adams Boston Lager and Seasonal can be found at all resorts at this point and in numerous places in the parks. Sam Adams also sponsors the beer tent during Food and Wine and you can have your choice of about 8 brews for that period of time in EPCOT

Yuengling is easy to drink but unspectacular...so that makes it a vast improvement over Bud - which is hard to drink and tastes like Hineywater:lmao:

Even though i'm not a huge consumer of ciders....strongbow in EPCOT is one of my favorite little rituals. And i'm just now seeing it in local beer stores in my area....expensive...I paid 39.00 for a case in july.

Sam Adams is so overrrated...the Anchor beers blow them out of the water IMHO...especially the Anchor Steam and Anchor Summer.

I have become a fan of Anchor as well...

I also like Brooklyn Brews quite a bit...though they are full bodied and would probably make somebody who drinks MGD puke:sick:

I don't know if Sam Adams is "overrated"...i just think they've gone mainstream and that takes away alot from something that started on a micro-brew basis.

They do make good, fairly strong brews using alot of ingredients...they seem to try different types of things to push on the american public...and they certainly can't be accused of not attempting new products.

But they're overexposed now and getting a little tired...like heineken and Stella in recent years

Dogfish Head 60min is now in the drink book at all the Disney lounges. The best beer we have at Disney is always what we have in our room, sadly.

We are a split household - I like lagers and fruit beers and DH likes IPA's :)

He would totally agree that IPA lovers should try the Dogfish Head Brewery 60minute IPA and the 90 minute IPA (expensive, but quite the treat). He is also a huge fan of Bell's Hopslam, his regular is Bell's Two Hearted - both are solid IPA choices.

Does anywhere in WDW serve Magner's, good hard cider, or any belgian lambic types?

My husband has a bottle of the Dogfish Head 120 minute IPA. Super hard to find, and apparently very icky. He is taking the bottle shop's advice and letting it age before he tries it.

The 120 is pretty brutal. Even for hop fans, I'm not sure what the attraction would be. I'm not too much of an IPA fan, and it seems over the past few years a lot of my favorite breweries are just hopping the heck out of everything. Victory is probably the worst offender, with this year's Festbier even losing a lot of the malt sweetness. Usually one of my favorite Oktoberfest's, and this year I'm pretty much dumping my case off on friends. Maybe it's just my tastebuds changing :confused3

I like the 120 mixed with WW Stout to create a heaven & hell.

Brocktoon, the Ayinger O'fest is always solid, for domestic I like Thomas Hooker (the Brooklyn offering is getting good buzz this year on the Beer Advocate board).

At stores around WDW I have been picking up some Bell's since it is not available in NE. Cigar City is a good Fla local brewery.

Hoppy definitely seems to be a trend lately. Not my favorite style either.

I'm supposed to trade for a couple bottles of the Ayinger next week. I've had a six-pack of the Brooklyn and strongly agree that they knocked it out of the park this year. Great Lakes also did a good job with this year's fest. I'm usually not a huge Magic Hat fan, but I've got some Hex (their fest) in my fridge that I haven't tried yet.

A ton of strong ales 9%+ also seem to be a trend. I like strong ales, but I hate hitting my local microbrew bar and seeing so many filling the tap list. I can't enjoy as many of these brews at the bar if I've got to drive. They're better for home drinking.
