Official DISNEY Cake Chatter Thread - Part II

We have decided to be in WDW in Disney over my son's 4th Birthday. We are on deluxe dining and the last thing we need is more food, however, I would feel like a very bad mom if I did not get a cake. My question is I have seen some minature cakes, but they appear to be wedding cake, any chance of getting a really small, yet decorated (Toy Story) cake. Anyone have suggestions, pics or direct me to threads that may help?

Thanks ahead a time

Contact the Disney Cake line at 407 827 2253. They are very helpful and they do fantastic cakes. You can have it delivered to a restaurant or possibly even you resort. We do it every year for DS Bday!

We celebrated our sons B'day last year and will do so again this year at Disney (he will be 4 as well). We were on DXDP last year and I agree - too much food. Make sure to tell the CM when you make your dining reservations that you are celebrating a birthday and they will mark it on all the reservations. At most of the restaruants we went to they brought a cupcake to my son and sang Happy Birthday.

This year I discovered a few fun things you can order right thru WDW-DINE CMs. They have a priate chest cake - small cake in a keepsake pirates chest and some other souvenier...it's $15.99. They also have goodie bags you can order. The regular goodie bag has a hat, crayons, color pad and other trinkets - it's $4.99 - the deluxe goody bag has the same plus a magnet play set and comes in a nice canvas bag - that's $9.99. If you go to the disney website (disneyworld.disney.go.com) and go to the "Things to Do" and click on "celebrate your sepcial occasion" you will see these items in the birthday section.

I ordered the Pirates Chest cake for one night and a regular and deluxe goody bag each for other nights. I think it will be a fun way to celebrate with my son. But note: for whatever ever reason these items are not available at all restaurants - Like I could only the regular gooie bag at Park Fare - not the deluxe. When you call WDW Dine you can check which of your reservations have what items available...

Last year for my DD's 5th birthday I called the cake hotline. They were very helpful. Of course even with six of us we couldn't finish the cake.

Ok I have a couple of questions. I am wanting to order a custom cake for our Nov/Dec trip. From what I have read it looks like my best bet would be to order the cake for our Chef Mickey dinner. I have a pretty good idea about what I want, I have pictures of some other cakes, and know what I want from them, should I just wait till a week or so before and then call to request an e-mail to send them in describing what I want, or should I try and contact them earlier so they have a little more time?

These are great questions :thumbsup2 I wanted to hitch hike on these and ask if anyone has ever been able to email Pat pictures. I read alot about persons being able to email Brian was wondering if Pat also does this? I do have pictures of different things I want to incorporate into my cake oder?

I have forty days until my trip should I get the ball rolling with emails?

I've been following this thread with some interest, the cakes and the stories behind them are so interesting and fascinating.

Okay, I am curious.

To the folks who ordered cakes and did not get what they ordered, received badly made cakes, stale cakes, horrible icing...did you contact management??? I mean, come on, if you are paying so much for a quality Disney cake, I would demand quality! They aren't doing you a favor by accepting your order; you are the customer. If you did speak with management what was the outcome? Thanks!

I usually contact management about overly bad as well as excellent experiences (I see that as a service, because otherwise how would they know?) I don't know what I would do if they stiffed me for a cake I ordered for my wife or especially my son or daughter.

On the outside I'd make the best of it, but you can be sure I'm going to flip once the party is over.

See, the issue here is that when they screw up a cake, besides giving you your money back, there is really no way to redeem your experience.
The memory is ruined, your surprise - a bust.
And you can't make a big deal out of right there and then (especially when kids are involved). So many times, I can only assume, when it's time to give negative feedback (because in my eyes, not getting what you paid for is NOT complaining) people just shrug it off.

Even though, between you and me, I will certainly try to find out exactly what I'm getting, and get it in writing before I shell out a dime.
But then again, I'm cheap :)

Yes I have in fact emailed Pat a picture and she duplicated what I emailed her. Let me know if you need her email address.

I would say 40 days is too early. They seem to like 2 weeks' notice.

My DF told me she got a small cake (nothing made to order) at the Yachtsman and they did not charge her. They counted it as the dessert on the plan.

Can anyone tell me if that is a stardard policy and is it something we can look forward to???

I've never heard of that, so I'd chalk it up to Pixie Dust for your DF.

What happened to the page that had the phone numbers for the different resorts to order cakes? I would like to order one from the Contemporary.

We had our "just because" cake tonight while at Park Fare. Pat and her team did an exceptional job!!!! We requested a Mad Hatter cake in fun, kid friendly colours and lots of Mickeys. It was yellow with orange diamond shapes and mickeys everywhere...a Mickey topper and all different colours and sizes of Mickeys around the cake and on the plate. It was huge: 7 layers of marble cake with chocolate mousse and vanilla buttercream. We each had a slice at the table and will be snacking on it til we head home. Very fresh and moist. I hope to figure out how to post pictures when we get back home. Kudos to Disney on an awesome cake!

Can't wait to see the pics!!:thumbsup2

Hello! I am new to the cakes (as I have never had anything to celebrate while in Disney...besides just being there!)
But this September I am going for a week and my sister is going to meet me for a weekend to celebrate her birthday. Her official bday treat is the Hoop de Doo, is this some place that I can order a cake? And if not, can I order something for 'Ohana breakfast? Like one of those slippers?

TIA!!!
