Girls Only~ OLD THREAD, new one linked in first post

I am okay with "when's the next trip?" though.

I'm ready to plan too!

Whenever ya'll get around to talking about next year - count me in!

I am ready for next year and tammy is in too!

As for next year, Let The Planning Begin !

 Well, grab your 2011 calendars and throw out some dates. (link to online calendar: http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/custom.html?year=2011&country=1&cols=3&hol=57&df=1)
We can get a poll going. :thumbsup2

Keep in mind a few points:

1. February, March and April have worked well for us the past three times so I'm thinking we should stick with in those months. In January we are still recovering from Christmas, and May is getting too close to many family vacations.

2. Avoid holidays if possible. In 2011 the holidays/events we might want to avoid are:
Feb 14 Valentine's Day
Feb 21 Presidents' Day
March 13 Daylight Savings time (move ahead one hour)
Apr 24 Easter Sunday (surprisingly late in the month next year!)

3. I wouldn't let weather factor into our decisions too much, it's simply too unpredictable.

4. Spring breaks typically start the first week of March, and even with Easter being so close to the end of April, in March and April we can run the risk of higher crowds due to school breaks. The closer to Easter, the worse it gets.

5. If dates are thrown around that you think now you won't be able to make, do not despair!!! It's a whole year away. This is why we pick dates quickly so you have time to make it happen. There are no dates that are going to be perfect for everyone but with time to plan hopefully it will work out. AmySue and SarahMay were pretty sure they couldn't make the trip this time once the dates were picked, and yet, they made it happen and had a great time. :goodvibes

I really liked it 2 years ago when we had it during Food & Wine, so that would be mid-April, definitely before Easter though.

That was nice. AND it gave more options on extra things to do like the cooking demonstrations, tastings, celeb chef meetings, etc.
I think that could definitely work as one option. ::yes::

So looking at the calendar, to avoid Easter, but make sure it was during the festival, it looks like we'd be talking about April 14-18. Correct?

February & March probably work best for me when it comes to time off from work, but I think I could work around almost anything considering how little I take time off to begin with.

I liked going during Food and Wine too. Although if we went April 1 that would be my birthday . . . . .

Plus I think even though the weather is unpredictable it is less likely to be rainy in April. Might be 102 degrees though!

Ok girlies--I've contacted Deb, Melody and Wendy already and I've left messages for Heather both on her voicemail at home and at work, but can't keep this to myself anymore. AmySue knows because I was whining to her.
Stacielee knows because I called her to get Heather's home number.

So, here is the Diva question of the day:

SCROLL DOWN

How do you feel about playing "connect the dots"?

Because . . .......................................

I was diagnosed with CHICKEN POX yesterday!!!!!!!!

I am SO sorry if any of you come down with this. I had a couple of spots over the weekend, but thought they were just normal hormonal breakouts--then when I got home Monday to drop off my luggage before going to work I pulled off my top to change and ZOWIE!!!!!! I called the doc, but they couldn't see me till yesterday (and he couldn't stop laughing to boot!). From what I understand I was most contagious before the spots appeared (which would have been Wednesday and Thursday. The weird thing is I had the chicken pox when I was a kid . . . . but they said sometimes if you have a mild case you can get it again (and I did). My Mom had shingles a few weeks ago so that must be where I got it.

The other sad news is that I got a call at 6:45 this morning that my Mother's sister (my 86 year old Aunt Loretta) had died last night. So I had to call my Mom and tell her over the phone because I can't go see her right now. Sucks.

Yup! This year, F&W is April 16 (Friday)-May 31 (Monday). If they keep the same schedule next year, April 15 will be the first day of F&W.

I liked going during Food and Wine too. Although if we went April 1 that would be my birthday . . . . .

I did laugh when you told me, once I understood what you were saying! Hopefully it's not too bad for you.

That's sad about your aunt. It does suck! Hope you mom is feeling better and this doesn't cause any type of set back.

Also, in my sickness stupor, I was thinking......I'm pretty sure a person could lose weight riding the TOT. My heart rate and breathing was so fast I couldn't even talk during or after riding it, so obviously you have the cardio workout aspect. BUT, you also have the added benefit of it being an all natural laxative, so anything you eat just moves right on through. In a nutshell, riding the TOT is like doing a cardio workout while taking Ex-Lax. Sure, it's not pretty, but it would work. The TOT weight loss plan.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Oh Cheryl...I'm so sorry about your aunt!

And now I'm wishing more and more that I could have been able to go and be your roomie, because I'm getting tired of E not getting the pox. And maybe I could have been a carrier to bring it home to him, LOL.

Hey, I knew a woman who got smallpox, twice, so chickenpox is definitely possible to get more than once!

Now what is all this chickenbone stuff? Do tell!

February & March probably work best for me when it comes to time off from work, but I think I could work around almost anything considering how little I take time off to begin with.
Okay. Well, it's good to know your work schedule can be flexible just in case. What we'll end up doing is putting together 3 or possibly 4 potential dates, and then taking a vote. But being this far out, hopefully which ever date wins will be manageable, if not ideal, for everyone. :)

Well shoot, it's your birthday month, don't ya know? :thumbsup2

Yes, we've now had it all. Slow days, busy days, super hot icky weather and now rain. All we can do it hope for the best which whatever dates we end up with.

I was diagnosed with CHICKEN POX yesterday!!!!!!!!

That's just crazy about the chicken pox!! That's not a good way to start off March. I hope it isn't too horrible for you. I have had it but I was only 3 so I don't remember, and am not sure how mild a case I had. :confused3
Also I'm very sorry about your Aunt.

Seriously? SERIOUSLY??? OMgoodness, Cheryl, I actually was wondering if I had fastforwarded to April 1st. I know you really needed ONE MORE THING like this in your life. . . :sad2: I hope and pray this is a mild case for you. Has Brandi had them?

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's sister, as well. (and I can do that cuz I've had the pox!)

Love ya!

OKie doke. So our first potential set of dates will officially be April 14-18. We need 2-3 more options.......

Food and Wine is okay with us. Anytime really.

Oh Cheryl. I hope you feel better. I never had the chicken pox, so we'll see! lol. Im sorry about your aunt.

Oh tag fairy!! If ever there was a made to order tag, here it is!!

:rotfl:

It's all good for me except the beginning of April, my mom and daughters birthdays are on April 3. I would love to go during F&W.

I had chicken pox when I was 16. Oh my I am feeling for you.

Cheryl - Oh no, I'm sorry to hear you have the POX. Do you feel sick? I had a horrible case of the chickenpox when I was a kid and ended up in the hospital for several days. (I had them in my trachea, which swelled up so I could hardly breath or swallow anything. I had to stay in an ice tent for a few days with an emergency tracheotomy kit next to my bed just incase I stopped breathing.) I hope you feel better soon. I am also so sorry to hear about your aunt. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your mom.

Are you divas accepting new members? If so, I think I might like to join in, if that would be OK?

I lived vicariously through you during your trip last week and looks like a super fun group of wimmin. :)

That's exactly what I thought! :rotfl: Good to see you here by the way. We usually bump into each other on the TRs. :)

Oh noes!!! I had them chicken pox when I was a kid. Still have a scar on chin to prove it. JOY-EEEE!

Cheryl, I'm sorry to hear about your aunt and the chicken pox. I was hoping your run of bad luck was done once March got here.

Yes, it's been too long, but I'm thrilled you'll be joining us. Now is the time to sign up and join the fun rather than waiting until the last minute. This way by the time the trip comes, you know everyone and everyone knows you. :thumbsup2

The APs are good from when they are activated.
