Secrets & Little Known Facts about rides

more..

The pirate ride in both disneyland and disneyworld, was almost not built. See they had a problem antoher ride was in its way. The disney railroad. This is why in both disneyland and disneyworld there is that drop, the pirate ride actually has that drop so it goes under the disney railroad tracks.

what I don't understand is why is the drop at the begging now and before it was at the end

The drop in PotC has never been moved or altered. It has always been at the beginning of the attraction (the boats travel back up to the loading area via a backstage upramp after Guests exit the attraction).

This thread is too good to let die, so here's a question:

According to this wikipedia entry, Goofy's trademark holler can be heard when a certain enemy is shot on the Disneyland "Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blaster". Is this attraction the same as "Space Ranger Spin" in WDW, and if so, which robot must be shot to hear this holler?

Anyone know of anywhere esle in WDW where we will hear the Goofy's famous holler?

This is a very interesting thread! I haven't read it all yet, but keep 'em coming.

BTW - this is not Disney related, but I thought I'd throw it out there quickly. I'm doing my first ever blog giveaway. It's in memory of a family we know of who recently lost their 6 month old daughter to Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Check it out and enter to win! But act quickly, entry deadline is less than 1 1/2 hrs away - 11:30am CST.

On Spaceship Earth the children in the 70s room watching TV were once the 2 who were Chatting from US and China before the refurb. Remember the fiber optics going from one computer to another "across the ocean"?

There was also something really cool we noticed outside one of the windows in SE, but it's slipping my memory right now. I distinctly remembering thinking of this thread when I saw it...

I spotted a hidden Mickey last trip on Journey into imagination. When the big "blast" happens and the walls drop, look to your right at the bottom. It's in with the purple circles. Its very clear, and easy to see if your looking.

These tips aren't much, but I agree with someone else who said this thread is too good to die yet, so they are all I have for now.

Hi,
Has anyone found out the secret to higher scoring on the Toy Story Mania Ride? It's a great ride, but it is difficult to score high numbers. I ask some castmembers for any hints, they just tell me that both you and your partner should aim and shoot at the same targets for higher scores. ???

Thanks

...Goofy's trademark holler can be heard when a certain enemy is shot on the Disneyland "Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blaster". Is this attraction the same as "Space Ranger Spin" in WDW...?
Almost. They're very similar but different (for example, at BLAB, there are four different types of targets to shoot at while at BLSRS there's only one; the guns are hard-mounted to the cars in BLSRS while at BLAB they're handheld).

The blocks in the nursery on Peter Pan's Flight read "P PAN" and "DISNEY".

In the third scene of The Carrousel of Progress, the one with the teenage daughter on the shaking "exercise" machine there is a hidden Mickey's Sorcerer's Hat. There are also 4 hidden mickeys in the final Christmas scene.

On the Great Movie Ride there are some really great hidden mickeys. There is a hidden mickey foot under a poster as you come up on the gangster scene and when you stop for the gangster if you look up and to the left you can see mickey's profile in a high window.

on the basketball court: it's more of a half court, but it's there. i think that much is proven. the myth portion is WHY it's there. there's a legend that Walt had to put it there to make it a 'sports arena' of sorts so he could get around some zoning restrictions. That portion isn't so much true. It's there, it's something to do in there, that's the deal with it. Kind of like there's a legend that the reason why Club 33 has an 'address' is because it was required to obtain a liquor license.

on pirates: the pieces absolutely shouldn't be moved around between visits (this would be the first i've heard of such a thing anyway). it is a stalemate although it's been argued by some chess players that there is no legitimate way for the pieces to end up in the position they're in. on top of that, it was created by marc davis but at some point, the pieces did lose their position (for whatever reason, I can't recall offhand) and they had to be reset except they could find no notes from davis as to which piece went where so it had to be re-created. davis also designed the ornamental roof of the haunted mansion which consists of various chess pieces (except for the knight)

For the chess pieces on the roof of the haunted mansion is that at Disneyland, Disney World, or both....I've look at Disney World but haven't seen it but maybe I'm looking at it wrong/it's not there

Is the train in the way at BOTH disneyland and Disney World, or only Disneyland and they kept the drop for the World version?

At Disneyland, it was necessary in several cases to have attractions span both sides of the tracks, because there wasn't enough room. That is why the "stretching room" at the Haunted Mansion at DL works differently than the one at WDW.

At WDW, the only similarly built attraction I believe is Space Mountain, where the train passes between the entrance and the attraction itself. I believe the tunnel goes down and back up to run under the tracks.

There is a book out there now called The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World that has a lot of these in them. When we go in a couple of weeks I am taking the book and checking stuff off as we find things.

Disneyland has two drops in order to bring the boats under the railroad tracks and into the show building. At WDW, there is one much shorter drop mainly for effect, and to lower the boats so that the ride building isn't so tall. The ride is located entirely within the park and inside the railroad tracks.

It's not there. The chess pieces on the roof of the HM are a myth.

Sorry if this has been said already, I read the first 20 pages and didn't see it...
At Kilimanjaro Safaris: Throughout the savannah there are potted plants which are re-planted to keep the attraction looking the same for every guest. The Safari vehicles originally cost a quarter of a million dollars, there are 44 of them.

Thanks for sharing everyone--I've made it through the whole thread and have copied and pasted to look for and video/photograph for my trip next week:cool1: That and actually looking for the hidden mickeys should make for a "different" kind of look at WDW! So thanks for help making this trip "fresh" again!

I just read somewhere the golden camel in front of the Aladdin Magic Carpets (Adventureland MK) is controlled by someone hidden nearby and shoots unexpecting guests as they walk by. But I can't confirm that this is entirely true, does anyone else know? :confused3

:rotfl: That is definitely true! It happened to me twice when we were there in February 08!

Thanks
Google "Toy Story Mania Easter Eggs" for all of the "secrets".:)

I do not if these were posted..the Tower of Terror has many hidden Mickey's

Images of MICKEY MOUSE have been hidden throughout the attraction by mischievous Imagineers. During the entire show, for example, the little girl is holding a MICKEY MOUSE doll.

Also, look for the famous silhouette of three circles along the balcony railing just before you enter the building and as a water stain on the wall in the boiler room.

Although probably not intentional, the bell for the elevator above Rod Serling's head in the Library film also bears a resemblance to those famous mouse ears.

A reference to MICKEY can also be seen in sheet music in the Echo Library which is a copy of actual music written in the 1930s (titled, "no mickey mouse? what kind of party is this?").

In the Fifth Dimension scene on the Foxtrot side, the swirling stars form a Hidden Mickey just before they disappear.
