Maybe the Casitas? That might be a nice spot, close to Rix (the bar) and there is a quiet pool over there. The quiet pools had more adults than kids in them.

Are there specific room numbers for the Casitas that I should/could request when I do the online checkin? Thanks for your help! I can't even believe there are still TWO WEEKS between then and now!!!!

We've never stayed at POR (the theme has just never appealed to us), but we have stayed at CSR seven times and I can tell you that we love it as did our kids when they traveled with us. Our oldest son, now 23, is upset he can't stay at the CSR in July because it was not one of the resorts with the package for the baseball tournament (he has to stay at the CBR instead). I think you will love it with the new queen beds, the great pool/slide, food options, night lounge, fitness center/spa. And I think for graduating college, with kids in between, that you deserve a massage--hint to your DH! ;)[/QUOTE]

Thank you so much for easing my mind.....I felt like I made the right decision, but I guess I just got last minute "nerves"......nothing really appealed to us about POR either except the boat to DTD and the walking paths.

Thank You again!!!

Jennifer

Hi everyone,
I have been lurking these boards and this thread for a while now, and I have finally booked my stay at CSR this september with the free dining plan. This will be my first time to WDW, all the way from Sydney, Australia. My boyfriend thinks I am mildly crazy because of how obsessed with planning I am. Thankyou so much to everyone for all your comments and pictures and advice you have posted on here, it was very helpful in making my choice to stay at CSR.

One question though which i can't seem to find the answer to anywhere, I know the pools in the resort close at midnight in the peak season, but do they stay open this late in September? If not, what time do they usually close?

Thanks again guys!

When we were there this past September, the quiet pools closed at 9 or 10; the main pool was open late--I know we were in it after 11:00.

I'd request a room in the Casitas - it is really beautiful at night with the fountains and the lighting. Casitas 4 has been renovated, and Casitas 5 is down for rehab right now - it might be opened when you go. The fourth floor of Casitas 1, 2 and 3 have been renovated as well.

You cannot request specific areas during online check-in, but you can call now and make that request. You can also send a fax three or four days before your arrival.

Make sure you let Disney know it is your anniversary!

Okay, so everyone here seems to really know about the rooms at CSR! My husband and I will be arriving on May 29th (soon! I wish it was now!) and we're celebrating our anniversary and I really have NO idea what to expect of the resort (other than the extremely in-depth posts here!), so I guess my question is this: what room would you all suggest we ask for? We'd prefer NOT to be on top of a pool with lots of kids (since kids aren't our thing--and of course, I don't mean that in a mean way, I like other people's children!) or right near a heavily foot-trafficked area.

I guess my question is this: what should we ask for that would be the most romantic? I've heard and seen that there are hammocks and bars! I like hammocks AND bars!

Suggestions!? We're totally non fussy about almost everything.

Castias 4 or 5--our favorite spots--would be my ideal location for what you want. There is a hammock right outside of Casitas 5; or you can ask for Cabanas which is closer to the outside bar.

We just returned from a 5 night stay at CSR. We had a great time at the resort! The kids loved the pool and my dd (6) couldn't get enough of the jaguar slide! Life vests for the kids were hard to come by at times, but luckily we had brought water wings/other floaties for the kids. One night I saw a young man at the top of the temple....he had climbed up the side near the arcade (around 9pm).

I had put in a request 4 days prior to arrival for Cabanas 8B or 9A with a view of the lake. Our requests were met and we were in Cabana 8B. Next time I will add 1st floor as we were on the 2nd floor and had to catch the elevator each time (as we had a stroller for our 1 year old DS). Cabana 8B is a great location! Close to the dig site...next to the laundry and quiet pool...and a short walk to El Centro. Here is a picture from our room:

Our room was clean and comfortable. We really like the new decor. Wish they had renovated the bathrooms though as the bathtub was permanently stained and the grout was black (instead of white). There was also a little mold on the bathroom ceiling. None of this marred our stay in anyway. Our room was vacuumed daily as the kids kept bringing in tons of sand in their shoes.

We enjoyed the beach area and the hammocks in the evenings. We went to the Pepper Market one night for something to go....the prices get me eveytime even though I am prepared. We also got a slice of pizza from Cafe Rix....$9.95 for a slice :scared1: but it was nice and cheesy. We ate outside next to the lake and it was nice. I also got some gelato from Cafe Rix one night....only $2.99 for a scoop, but they pack it in the cup!

I also did some laundry.....$2 per load for wash or dryer. We used the buses one day to go to MK, but used our car most of the time. All in all we had a great time and would not hesitate to stay at CSR again.

Glad you had a great time at the CSR and that your kids loved the pool. Great pictures--thanks for sharing.

:) I have a ton of pictures with my kids in the pool as it was DS's 1st time in the pool. You might just be in there!

Ok I am so excited to go back to WDW! The last time i stayed with my Dad and this time we opted for more magic at a FABULOUS WDW resort. They made it affordable with the military discount!
So a few questions.... Can i ship a package to my resort and have it there for me when i get there? Wanted to pack some snacks and what nots for the kids!
I have heard of mousekeeping yet noone on her has talked about it. Do they do it there? make fun stuff out fo your towels? My girls would love it! It adds to the magic!

Are the renovations done? I definitly need a room with with 2 queens! I cant share a double with my husband, hes 6 feet tall and I am 5'8 there is no room!

Also i have been making my dining reservations, there are two things that I really want to go to, I had booked for the luau and disney make a mistake and booked me for the hoopdedoo twice so by the time i cancelled that the luau was full, have you guys ever noticed if these things will open up? Also for like chef mickeys and 1900 i cant get reservations, can i try to be a walk in?

Thanks everyone! Ill be there june 19- july 1st sure some of you on here will be there the same times!

You can request a renovated room but it is only a request not a guarantee that you will get it. We stayed in Cabana 8A and really loved the location- about 5+ minutes to El Centro and just a quick walk to the Dig Site.

What a bummer about the luau. I get frustrated with mistakes like that. I will be there the end of June. I'm also hoping for queen beds since I have to share one with my 11 yr old son :scared1:. With a queen, we can fit pillows between us .

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think all of the rooms have queen beds, but only some of the rooms are renovated. Right, Kat?

Glad you had a GREAT TIME!!!

20 min wait seem like to me a LOOOONG wait in the heat, is that the norm??

So stay away from the food at CSR??

Once again great report!!

Thanks, I'm glad it was helpful.

No 20 minutes was not the norm, it was the exception for me. That was the longest I had to wait. It usually happened because I just barely missed the last bus to wherever I was going.

The food tasted fine, I wouldn't avoid it for that reason. For me, it was too expensive--I was paying out of pocket, so I was paying attention to the prices, and I know what things are supposed to cost. If you are on the DDP or money is no object, I say go for it. Beware of dining during traditional dining times, though, if there's a convention on site.

I don't think any of the buildings are close enough to the pools to hear anything. We were in the Cabanas (8B) and it was full of families. All of the rooms around us were full. Maybe the Casitas? That might be a nice spot, close to Rix (the bar) and there is a quiet pool over there. The quiet pools had more adults than kids in them.

My room in the Casitas (4111) was facing the "quiet" pool, and believe me, it wasn't that quiet when there were kids out there, which was often. I think any of the other Casitas buildings would be fine, or, if you want to stay in 4, specifically ask for a quiet room away from the pool.

All rooms that are getting two queen beds have them. However, some of the rooms that are NOT yet renovated are getting king beds (100 of those rooms) and they may still have the two full beds.

Yes, you can. You would then pick it up at the Business Center at the resort and you have to pay them a $10 handling fee (this is on top of whatever it costs you to ship the package). Just ship it a few days ahead of time and indicate on the label when you will be arriving.

It sounds like I have reason to feel optimistic :goodvibes. Thanks for the info.!

Thanks caribear for the photos. NOw I understand why some people say they're "homesick" for a resort. I'm beginning to really love this place!
