The New 2008 Beach Club and Yacht Club FAQs thread

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I'm looking at possibly changing our 1/20-1/27 visit from the Contemporary to the Beach Club. Using the 4/3 deal, they have two room types available: Water/Pool View and Deluxe Room - Club Level. The price difference is about $500 total. Is there any difference in the rooms themselves? What about views? Are the Deluxe Room - Club Level rooms guarranteed a view of the lake and not the pool which will be under construction? I'm wondering if the concierge service is going to be worth it for us, as we won't be setting up any ADRs ahead of time (we just aren't big planners like that) but will be going with a more catch-as-catch can style of dining; eating at CS mostly, possibly one or two TS meals if we can get what we want when we want (not even sure if that's possible when we are going). Probably wouldn't spend much time in the lounge area, although the pastries in the morning would be nice.
Any thoughts about my rambling message? I guess the main question is differences in the rooms/views/amenities in the rooms themselves. Thanks!

Big difference in the size of the rooms. The water/pool view is just that. It's a regular room on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th floor facing water. There is no guarantee what water you will see ... could be the lake, could be Stormalong Bay or could be the quiet pool. The Deluxe Room - Club Level is not on the 5th floor where the standard and water view club level rooms are. All the deluxe rooms are on the other floors but your key will give you access to the 5th floor where the lounge is. The Deluxe Rooms are very much larger than the regular rooms. Only thing some guests don't like is the fact that they are not on the fifth floor. The only rooms on the 5th floor larger than the normal rooms are two suites - the Presidential and Vice Presidential.

If you are not going to spend much time at the resort and take advantage of the offerings in the lounge, it might not be worth the extra money. However, the deluxe room is alot larger and depending on how many in your party, that extra room would be very nice to have.

There are not alot of deluxe rooms but I'm fairly certain most face the lake.

Hope this helps.

Yes, that helps alot. Not so worried about it not being on the 5th floor, but the larger size definitely is a big plus. There are four of us, but since the parks close fairly early in Jan. we'll be spending a bit of time in the room. More than just getting back from the parks and crashing, at any rate, so the bigger room would be a plus. Its only $500 more and is more centrally located than any of the villas that are available as a non-DVC member...the only one with a 2-bedroom available for our dates is Old Key West, which looks nice but I'm a little worried about how far it is away from everything. Beach Club is very close to Epcot and pretty close to the Studios, so that's a big plus.
Thanks again!

Have you also tried to rent points for a villa? If you look on the DVC board, there is info on how to do that - there may be a villa available that you cannot get as a non-owner. I have never done it myself, but a friend of mine does every year and has never had a problem - there is a trust aspect because the DVC owner has to make the reservation on your behalf.

Hi all. When we were there last May my 5 yo son was allowed to wear a life vest when he went down the slide. Earlier in the thread someone mentioned no vests on the slide during the summer. Does anyone know the current policy? Has anyone used one since this summer?

We just got home last night, and yes, our 5 year was allowed to wear a life vest on the slide. He loved it.

Sorry about this if it's been mentioned before, but have the YC rooms been renovated yet? Thank you! I am so excited to be at the YC soon!

I just have to say that we got home today from our first stay at the BCV and I already miss it. :( Such a great resort!

Just wanted to say -

Hi all, I know this is probably answered somewhere here already, but we are staying club level at YC in Feb, is there a different procedure for checking-in for the club level? I'm told you check-in up on the club level floor, if that's the case, how do we get up there?

Wishing you a magical day Teena!

You will be greeted outside of the resort when you arrive and escorted by a CM to the Club Level. There is a small podium for Club level outside the resort. When we arrived in August and mentioned our name to Bell Services, one of the the CMs from the podium greeted us and escorted us to the 5th floor. Have a great time!!!

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered within the 101 pages on this thread, but does anyone know what time SAB opens and closes during the different seasons? Hot tubs after park hours are a biggie for me...would we have access to the hot tubs after the parks close or are they locked up tight at night?

Thanks!

You would certainly have access to the hot tubs at the quiet pools. Each of the quiet pools (BC, YC & BCV) has a hot tub and they are open very very late if not 24 hrs.

Just want to say that I am so looking forward to staying at the Yacht Club in December 2010. Even though it is two years away:sad1: (it is going to be my present for graduating Nursing school) I cannot WAIT! Please keep me updated on what's happening at these resorts. Out of all the times I have been to Disney, this will be the first time staying at a deluxe in the Epcot area.

Just got back from BC... what a wonderful place! We reserved standard rooms and requested connecting rooms close to Epcot. We got 1581 and 1583, which were perfect. Nice little patio on the outside, quiet but close to the pools and lobby - very, very nice! We also learned an interesting little tidbit about the boat to DHS. Disney does not run a bus between BC and DHS normally, but if you are still in the Studios when the boat dock closes, they will take you back on a bus. Good to know (not that I used it, but still!)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, wonderful!!! There's nothing like soaking after a long day in the parks!!

I have seen the photos of the new rooms at the BC does anyone know if the YC rooms have also been redone yet?

Thanks
