sorry this might have been answered a lot already-but i am being lazy..

was the ring custom made, or was the mickey shaped (clover?) sides already like that? It is so cool!

It’s not a Mickey Mouse Ring, not a real one, I am sure the designer of the Ring wasn’t designing the ring to have a Mickey head in it (although there is a designer who specializes in Disney Jewelry), It just looks like one. Pete said he picked it because the three side diamonds reminded him of the Mickey Mouse diamond earrings I wear every day, except all three side diamonds are the same size and the bottom one isn’t bigger (like on the earrings), but didn’t think anyone else would notice. He was shocked by how many other people see the “Hidden Mickey” (HAHAHA) I seen it right away! He was all surprised, he thought it would be our own private hidden Mickey. I think if people didn’t know about my love of all things Disney, they wouldn’t see it so readily! I love it, I love how it isn’t all flashy Mickey Mouse in your face, and how it still very much looks like an engagement ring, with only a tiny hidden Disney touch!

I thought my df had a super good proposal (ring in the glass slipper at crt) but I think this is just as awsome if not better. I love cinderella so naturally I love your snowglobe. The ring is beautiful and I love it! Congrats!

The ring on the left is the one my fiance used when he proposed at Disney, he snuck off one night at MK to buy it. The one on the right is the one we picked out together. It is hard to get a good picture of my ring but it has three diamonds that look like a Mickey head and the center stone is a princess cut. As soon as I saw the setting I didn't want anything else. I wear the original ring on my right hand now. I smile everyday when I look at them. and one of these days I am going to have an accident because when it is sunny I like to see how my ring sparkles!

kborn,i'm a huge fan of your wife's vr dress! i LOVE it...just wondering, does she wear her original wedding band in front of her engagement ring? i'm going to do that,i have to because it looks weird if i wear the band behind the engagement ring! congratulations on your vow renewal! i am so happy for you guys!!!

I don't know about white gold, but Platinum gets a patina. My e-ring was nowhere near as shiny as my wedding band and we only got engaged 9 months prior to the wedding. I'd be curious about white gold though, DH got white gold instead of platinum (anything to save a few $$)

My e-ring was originally white gold but we switched it over to platinum for this reason. White gold is yellow gold dipped in nickel/zinc and a rhodium finish. It needs to be re-rhodiumed 1-2x per year to maintain its color. DF got the extended warranty on my ring so it would be free, but after three years it would cost $90-180/year to keep it from looking yellow. I had my ring a little over a month when I reset it and the yellow was already visible in the crook of the mount.
