Were you in a sorority or fraternity?

Just wondering... I saw the post about the mom asking questions for her DD. So, were you in one? Which one and why? Did you enjoy it? Regret it? Still actively involved??

No. The nicest thing I could probably say about this topic is that the Greek system is not my cup of tea. ;)

I was in Delta Gamma and I loved it. It was a great experience and I made wonderful friends. No regrets here at all. :goodvibes

I was an Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Missouri. I enjoyed the hell out of it, probably a little too much, actually. ;)

Unfortunately, I'm not active in the alumnae association, though I'd like to be once I get out of school and get life settled and all that.

No--the Greek system was strictly verboten on our campus.

I had a friend at a different school who was in AKA. She loved and and remains close to her sisters to this day, so it seems like it was a very positive thing in her life. Another buddy of mine was in TKE. He enjoyed it, but it seemed more of a party group. Again, he's still close with some of the brothers.

I was a Delta Gamma at DePauw University. I still consider myself a Delta Gamma and always will be one. I found amazing friends both in the house and outside of the house and I have no regrets about my experience.

Sororities were not my thing, but I did want to be a "little sister" at one of the fraternities at Rutgers. Didn't pan out though.

I actually went the service route, and was in a Service Fraternity (co-ed), Alpha Phi Omega. I pledged one semester and then was actually the pledgemaster (?? forgetting my terms) another semester. Ya' know, runnning the new pledge class. We did local charity work, had some formals, great group of people. I regret not staying in touch with some of them better though.

Oh, this was at Northern Illinois, mid-90's...

Sure was, Alpha Omicron Pi, really good experience. Still friends with lots of the girls, but not involved at all. Im too busy with my adult sorority ; ) ... LOL Junior League of Baton Rouge takes up alot of my time.

I was a Phi Mu at LU just like with everything else there were some good points and bad points. I cherish some of the times that I had there and wouldn't change anything! I wish I had some more time to be more involved hopefully I will.

Yes, I was (and am) an Alpha Phi. I made wonderful friends, many of whom are still an important part of my life today - almost 25 years later.

I am actively involved (after an absence of a few years) as an alum.

Icing on the cake - my daughter just joined! princess:

My daughter joined Delta Gamma last year at her college. My college did not have sororities so I did not know what to expect. It has been a fantastic experience for her!! Nothing but good to say about DG! :thumbsup2

I was a sister of Delta Phi Epsilon. I loved it and do not regret a thing. Our house was very involved in campus activities and clubs and did community service projects as well. I am not very involved now that I'm out of school. I had a blast as a sorority member.:)

I wasn't in one, but my ex was in an engineering fraternity at the university of toledo (Triangle Fraternity) They were all really nice guys ( i still talk to some of them) and my fiance was in the honors society when we were in college. I forget what it was called but he wasn't very active.

I was in Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional music fraternity for women. I loved it. We have an honorary membership for men and Henry Mancini was one. Some other notable sisters are Jessye Norman, Beverly Seals and Sheryl Crow. I am not involved with it anymore.

I did join a non-collegiate service sorority after graduation called Sigma Beta. We have members of all ages across the country and we volunteer with and donate cash grants to numerous local and national charities. I'm going on my 10th year as a member and I love it. My Emerald Angels link in my siggy is to my chapter's web site.

I was a Theta at Drake University. I liked it, but probably would not have joined a sorority if I had gone to a big university.

Nope. Like a PP said, not my cup of tea.

My boyfriend was, and still is a member of a coed fraternity. He (and I) are still friends with the brothers. Heck, he is a groomsman in their weddings and there will be more to come!

I was a Delta Zeta and my DH was a Phi Sig. That's how we met. We went to a small school and that was pretty much the whole social scene. I loved it. Our best friends are from the college days. We are not active as alums.

I'll second that. :thumbsup2 I never considered being in one.... my roommate my freshman year went through rush and I ridiculed her constantly for it. She ended up making it in and told them no. :lmao:
