Zoom lens for Canon EOS Rebel - Canon, Tamron, or something else?

Of those two I'd go with the Canon 55-250. It's going to be sharper than the Tamron. The Canon also has IS which can come in handy at those long focal lengths.

I would go with the Canon as well for the same reasons as posted above. The IS feature will be very helpful when using those long focal lengths. I have the 75-300 and I love the IS feature.

I just bought the Tamron 18-270 mm. So far so good for outdoor shots now I need to master the indoor cheerleading and dance shots.

I also have the Canon 55-250 mm, again it's great for outdoor but I'm still learning the indoor action shots - so if anyone can help it would be gretly appreciated!:confused3

55-250IS. They call it the nifty two fifty. Typically you can get it for somewhere around $250. Great IQ for this lens and price for sure!

I like the canon as well but I have yet to figure out the inside settings.... hell really I just think I take crappy pics lol

I've had that Canon lens for a few years and I love it. I probably end up using it more than any other lens when I'm at Animal Kingdom.

I am looking to buy a zoom lens for my daughter's Canon EOS Rebel T3. Amazon has several choices and I am not sure about how to decide; I would appreciate any advice. I am looking at:

http://www.amazon.com/Tamron-75-300...V8R8/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1337033359&sr=8-8

and

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-55-250m...VMO8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337033529&sr=8-1

Thanks!

go with the Canon 55-250IS
I've never owned the Tamron but the Canon is sharp and has image stabilization (which is important for telephoto lens)
get the Canon 55-250IS for $179 from adorama which includes a one year warranty and free shipping

Those of you trying to take indoor pictures, especially action shots, need to try working in shutter priority (Tv). While a good lens, your widest aperture fully zoomed is f/6.4 which is not a lot of light. Crank up the ISO, shoot at 1/160 sec or faster and see what you get. Unless you're in an arena that's lit up for a TV broadcast, you're probably going to struggle to get great shots (especially for cheer, dance and other athletic events), but you *can* get nice ones. For music, theater or other less active events you can probably do quite nicely.

I have the 55-250 and it does a halfway decent job for HS football under the lights but to shoot indoors such as for wrestling or swimming I rent a lens like the 70-200 F2.8L or F4L.
