Trip report part 8- - Yeeha -A fistful of Euros!

Saturday 29th March

Cast:
Me - 5th time to DLP
DH - 5th time to DLP
DD (8) - 5th time to DLP
DS (21) - 1st time to DLP but has been to WDW 3 times but not for over 10 yrs

We woke up feeling quite sad today as we were setting off home after a wonderful 2 weeks in France. However we reminded ourselves that we still had most of the day in the park and a lunch at Walts to look forward to so that cheered us up a lot. We had decided not to attempt EMH today and had booked a late breakfast at the hotel. It was to be the first time DD, DS and myself had made it to breakfast here as we’d sent DH to get our food on other days. We’d hoped that it would be quieter as people would have had breakfast earlier to get in for EMH however it was really busy. It was difficult to see any empty tables so DD and I went to look for a table whilst DH and DS collected some food. We were lucky as we immediately saw a family stand up and leave so we claimed the table and I went to find the others to tell them where we were and collect some food as well. It was chaotic- there didn’t seem to be any order as to where the food was and the bowls were no where near the cereal, fruit salad etc. I think DS was amazed by it all and wanted to try and organise the place – hes a very organised person and doesn’t like chaos. Eventually we sat down and enjoyed our breakfast – DS even had some apple puree with yoghurt which he said was really nice so someone does eat it!!!
After breakfast we got the rest of our things together while DH went to the Esso station for petrol. We then loaded the car and drove the ‘long’ distance to Hotel New York to park the car there.
We then walked for the last time through the Village to the park. What a shock when we got there about 11.00 it was sooooo busy. There were crowds waiting to get in and it took us quite a long time to get through the turnstiles. It had seemed so quiet the day before compared to earlier in the week that we had forgotten that it was usually busier on a Saturday. We decided then that we probably wouldn’t get many rides done but just decided to enjoy the park.
We decided to try and get on POC as we really wanted to try and do this again before we left and also BTM. So DH went to try to get FPs for BTM while the rest of us wandered over to POC. We waited for ages outside POC for DH- all the time watching people pouring into the ride. DH appeared with FPs for 4.00ish and a photo of Jack Sparrow who he seen walking along and had stopped to pose for a photo for him ( I forgot to say we had seen him walking past the day before as well but he didn’t stop for photos).

By now the queue for POC was almost to the entrance - where the sign is but it was still showing 10 minutes. We weren’t sure if the whole queuing area was open (up and down the lanes outside) which would mean the wait would be so long so decided to join it and see as if those lanes weren’t open it might not be too bad. They weren’t open and the queue moves quite fast so before we knew it we were inside. The queue continued to move steadily and at least it gave us chance to look at the queuing area properly rather than just dash through it – somehow it doesn’t seem as long a walk either when you are queuing ( I know it sounds mad but it doesn’t!!)
We enjoyed our ride as always and then wandered over to Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse to explore and then over the Wobbly Bridge. I’m not sure if we did anything else but possibly just looked in a few shops.
We had booked at Walts at 1.00 so headed over there. We love Walts and it has become a must every trip. We were shown upstairs and into the Fantasyland room – we have never been in this room before – and were given a window seat which looked out onto the little street by Dapper Dans.
DD went for the children’s menu: Veg sticks and dip, Chicken with pasta, Chocolate fondue with fruit to dip. She really enjoyed the meal especially the chicken and pasta for a change.
There are 2 set price meals for adults – the cheapest 2 courses but you can pay a bit extra for Gourmet Coffee.
DS and I opted for this menu (me with the coffee option)
DS had Caesar salad followed by Steak with bearnaise sauce, potatoes and veg. He then got a dessert from the a la carte menu – chocolate fondue with exotic fruits.
I had the beetroot starter which was thin slices of beetroot (not pickled) layered with creamy artichoke. It was served with salad and was delicious. I fancied trying something different and would definitely order it again. I then had the Walts burger which I’ve never had before. Again it was lovely but so filling- that was another reason why I chose a lighter starter. I had then opted for the Gourmet coffee which was a coffee with a selection of desserts – there was a small custard dessert, a macaroon, a chocolate tarte and a chocolate. It was lovely as I really enjoy this French idea of several small portions of different desserts with coffee.
DH had gone for the more expensive menu which included a dessert and had Fois Gras, followed by Steak with truffle sauce, potatoes and veg. He then had a choice of any dessert on the menu so chose the Chocolate fondue with exotic fruit like DS.
We really enjoyed the meal and Walts has continued to be one of our favourite restaurants.
After the meal we wandered round the park and noted there were big queues for all rides. DD really wanted to take DS onto Snow White as he hadn’t done it during EMH so we decided to join the queue. It wasn’t too bad and moved quicky. We then noticed Pinochio was open (it had been closed all week for refurbishment) but the queue was much longer so we decided not to bother.
We then headed over to Frontierland to see if DD could manage to see Woody. 3rd time lucky- he was there with Jessie and the queue wasn’t too long. It did take a while though as they were spending quite a while with each person chatting and playing about. At last it was DDs turn and this time they didn’t disappear – well they did for a few minutes but soon returned. It was worth the wait as both Woody and Jessie were waiting for her to go up the steps then suddenly Woody grabbed her autograph book and started pulling faces at Jessie and making signals to say I beat you to it. He then signed his autograph on 2 pages so there was no room on the page for Jessie and laughed at her. DD felt sorry for Jessie and so she wouldn’t get upset told her she liked her best so Jessie then pulled DD to her and gave her a big hug. When he saw this Woody went into a corner to sulk so DD blew him a big kiss so he came back looking all embarrassed. Jessie took the book off him and signed her name on another page. Eventually they made up and posed for photos together with DD.

By now it was time for our fast pass slot on BTM so we rode what was to be our last ride. DD and DS had been pulling faces all week for the ride photos so as this was our last ride we decided to all pull a face – sorry if you were the other 2 people in the car and were hoping to buy your photo!!!

<table style="border-collapse:collapse;"><tr><td colspan="2"><embed src="http://apps.rockyou.com/photofx.swf" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="lt" width="452" height="359" wmode="transparent" flashvars="imgpath=http%3A//img314.rockyou.com/photofx/28/28013/28013150/28013150_f1126a251208203540.jpg&glitterp=false&roundp=true&sepiap=false&theme=&shadowp=true&bevelp=true&width=452&height=359&imageWidth=452&instanceid=28013150&userid=9422703&createDateString=Apr%2014%20%2708&username=%7E" name="rockyou" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer "></embed></td></tr><tr><td style="font-size:0px;background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="left"><img src="http://apps.rockyou.com/dot.gif?w=PF&d=A1C0&c=1&id=28013150&=.gif"><a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/link/link1.php?refid=28013150"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/link/new_tail_logo1.gif"></a></td><td style="background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="right"><a style="padding-right:0px;" target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/photofx/create.php?widget=photofx&src=emcr?refid=28013150"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/images/tail_create.gif"></a></td></tr></table>

We then wandered out of the park. We decided that when we reached the end of Mainstreet we had to exit through the exact middle under the train station and would all turn to wave and shout goodbye to the park - which we did with me wearing DDs Minnie ears.
We walked back through the village calling into the toy shop for one last look and buying a Minnie purse for DD as an extra present, then round the lake to Hotel New York.
We collected the car and set off to drive to the Tunnel. The journey was uneventful and we arrived early. We were offered an earlier crossing – we could have gone immediately but chose the next one which gave us chance to go into the terminal to buy a sandwich to eat later and grab a cup of tea.
We boarded the shuttle and before we knew it we were in England. We were staying overnight at Travel Lodge in Ashford so flopped into bed. The clocks were due to change tonight so we had decided there was no point changing our watches from French to English time as we’d have to change them again the following day so we stayed in French time.
We woke up the next morning to find the hotel boiler wasn’t working so there was no hot water but who cared. We had a big breakfast then set off on the long journey North, arriving home about 5.00 after an amazing holiday.

We had a fabulous time (again) with some great meals, character intervention, fun on the rides (especially BTM), winding down time whilst on the campsite and 2 great trips into Paris. The weather was changeable but apart from the cold nights in the caravan didn’t bother us at all and although it’s the first time we’ve experienced rain in the park it didn’t bother us at all and we didn’t get too wet.

:goodvibes Great report. I love to hear of people having 'fun' moments that they make themselves, as well as all the fun the Parks provide.

Great to read. Would you recommend that campsite despite the cold?

Fab trip report. I have have enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing:goodvibes

what a wonderful time!

Isn't it amazing what characters can convey without saying a word? And it totally destroys the language barrier, so awesome!

Jack Sparrow looks very cool, glad you got his photo.

The BTM photo is priceless. If I was in the car with you, I would definitely want to buy that photo!

Me too - absolute classic picture!!!

I got all sad for you reading the end of your trippie - but I know you - you'll be back soon :lmao: !

Great to read. Would you recommend that campsite despite the cold?

We have stayed at the same campsite for the last 3 Easters and really like it. There is a very big indoor pool with slides (there is an outdoor one for summer as well), 3 lakes - one with peddaloes etc on and one with a man made beach area. We really like it

Thanks for all your comments about the trippie. It takes a long time to write them but its worth it. I love reading them over and over again whilst waiting for my next trip. :cheer2:

Glad you all like the BTM photo. DS wouldnt let us post any photos of him but agreed to this one.

Yes we will be back soon :cheer2: (approx 14 wks)- must get a new ticker

Thanks for sharing your report. I have enjoyed reading each installment and looking at your photos. Thanks for taking the time to do it.
