Yeeha – A Fistful of Euros! Part 2

Wed 19th March

Cast:
Me - 5th time to DLP
DH - 5th time to DLP
DD (8) - 5th time to DLP
DS (21) - 1st time to DLP but has been to WDW 3 times but not for over 10 yrs

After a relaxing afternoon at DCR yesterday it was now time to hit the park. We had decided not to attempt EMH today and just get up when we woke.
DH was up first as usual and went to collect the breakfast supplies. DD and DS were soon awake and tucking into baguette and croissants with orange juice, hot chocolate, tea and coffee.
We packed our overnight bag into the car (again) and left the cabin to drive to New York. A flash of the AP again and we were parking in our usual place.
We had got our dream APs and were planning to get DS a Francilien pass as it was the cheapest option. We had a day left on the ticket we had bought for Grandma at Christmas (4 days for price of 3) so planned to use that for him to get into the park and then get the AP once in. We had checked and as far as we could make out it was still valid but we still breathed a sigh of relief when it went through. We were in the park at last.

First stop was to be City Hall where we had planned to book Walts for lunch and also wanted to book some meals for the following week. DD and DS wandered up Mainstreet whilst DH and I went into City Hall. It was busy but another CM came out so we got seen to straight away, however it took a long time as we had a few restaurants we wanted to book – we had an idea of where we wanted to go and when but had to swap them round as some weren’t open on certain days – the first one being Walts which wasn’t open on a Wednesday so we booked Blue Lagoon for lunch that day instead. We also wanted to book Buffalo Bill for the following Wednesday evening but that wasn’t open either so we tried to book it for the Tuesday instead but when we showed them our AP they explained we wouldn’t get the discount if we booked it there so we were better doing it at the BB kiosk in the Village instead. Eventually we sorted all the others but it took a while as there is only one machine in City Hall for the CMs to book meals on so they were having to wait for each other.

We walked up Mainstreet and found the other 2 sat on a wall near Caseys.
We ventured into Frontierland first (we were to spend quite a lot of time in this land over the holiday and in fact our holiday had quite a Wild West theme to it hence the title). There was quite a long queue for BTM so we grabbed FPs and then decided to go to get DSs FP sorted before we did anything else.
It was really heaving in the AP office and we had quite a long wait. We could have left it and come back later but the main reason for having this extra day at DLP was to get the pass for DS so we didn’t want to risk it closing early or anything daft like that so decided to wait. We had forgotten to take the sponsorship form but we asked and they said they’d give us another when it was our turn. (I wish they’d given it while we were waiting then we could have found some others in the queue to sponsor – probably the reason why they don’t do it!!!) DD was happy watching the DVDs but it was boring waiting for them to call our number- Donald 8.
Eventually it was called. We explained we wanted to sponsor him and they gave us another form to fill in. We had asked about getting money back on the day pass but weren’t sure if we could as it was a free day on the ticket but they worked out how much we would get off – I think a quarter of the price off as it was the 4th day of use. With the sponsorship discount it worked out I think about €42. All the forms were complete, the pass was printed out and the CM was copying the details onto the sponsorship form when she realised the expiry date was wrong – it expired in 1890!!! Not sure what had happened there and it would have been interesting to see if it would have let him use it or not. Anyhow she went for help, the problem was sorted and another pass was printed out.

By this time we had 5 minutes left of our FP slot for BTM so we dashed across to Frontierland for DSs first ride in DLP. He sat next to DD and as usual we all loved it. We got off all excited and wanting more of the same.
We wandered towards Woodys Round up Village where DD wanted to meet Woody. We joined the queue and could see both Woody and Jessie were there. We got almost to the front when it was time for them both to go. Fortunately we hadn’t waited too long but it was a shame the CM hadn’t stopped people joining the queue.

We headed towards Adventureland and on route saw Peter Pan and Wendy

but again DD didn’t get chance to meet either of them before they had to go. It was a free for all type of queue and they were chasing each other round so kept moving about and changing position. She was beginning to feel disappointed so we decided we had time to do POC before lunch at BL. We don’t normally do this ride during the day as we find the queues are better in the evening but we decided to give it a go and it was virtually walk on. We only queued after you get through the turnstile. We loved this ride as much as ever.
It was then time for our meal at Blue Lagoon. We were seated right by the water. Its our 3rd time here and 1st time we’ve managed to be by the water so we were really pleased. In fact Id seen people standing up from the table to leave as we were on POC and thought ‘we’ll have that table’ and lo and behold it’s the one we got.

We claimed our free aperitifs with dream APs- Kir for me and DH and orange for DD. Being the kind Mum I am I gave mine to DS (reminder he is 21 – DDs the one whos 8!!). DD ordered from the kids menu- veg sticks, Chicken kebab and fromage blanc. The 3 adults all ordered from the €28 menu which is slightly different to what it says on DLP food guide. We all had cured ham for starters, DH had the Chicken curry and DS and I decided to be adventurous by having the fish. I had no idea what to expect and I never usually order fish in restaurants but I just fancied trying something different. I nearly died when it came though – it was served in a bowl with a large piece of fish on top of lovely vegetables but surrounded by sea food- mussels, clams etc and a massive prawn still in its shell. I just don’t do seafood – I won’t touch mussels etc at all and will only eat prawns if they have been peeled already. DH offered to swap but I decided to stick with it and brave it out. (Not the only time I was to be brave this holiday either!!!) The fish was delicious but the seafood remained untouched. DH and I then had crème brulee and DS had the carpaccio of Pineapple.
Apart from the shock of the seafood the meal was delicious and I was glad Id been adventurous enough to try something different – still don’t know what kind of fish it was – Mahi Mahi (Just googled it and its Dolphin fish so Ive just had a panic thinking Id eaten dolphin but when Ive read further its not dolphin (which is a mammal) but dolphin fish which is totally different - phew!!!!).

After such a big meal we decided to stroll into Fantasyland and through Alices maze. We climbed the Queen of Hearts Castle and admired the view from above.

<table style="border-collapse:collapse;"><tr><td colspan="2"><embed src="http://apps.rockyou.com/photofx.swf" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="lt" width="600" height="475" wmode="transparent" flashvars="imgpath=http%3A//img371.rockyou.com/photofx/27/27591/27591972/27591972_e8dfcb171207253668.jpg&glitterp=false&roundp=true&sepiap=false&theme=&shadowp=true&bevelp=true&width=600&height=475&imageWidth=600&instanceid=27591972&userid=9422703&createDateString=Apr%2003%20%2708&username=%7E" name="rockyou" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer "></embed></td></tr><tr><td style="font-size:0px;background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="left"><img src="http://apps.rockyou.com/dot.gif?w=PF&d=9D74&c=1&id=27591972&=.gif"><a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/link/link1.php?refid=27591972"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/link/new_tail_logo1.gif"></a></td><td style="background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="right"><a style="padding-right:0px;" target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/photofx/create.php?widget=photofx&src=emcr?refid=27591972"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/images/tail_create.gif"></a></td></tr></table>

We then went on the Storybook ride and Casey Junior – DD and DS getting to ‘drive’ the train at the front. It was almost time for the parade to start so we made our way towards Bella Notte where it was already busy but DD stood on the wall outside Bella Notte and we watched over peoples heads. We weren’t too bothered as we planned to watch it properly the following week and get a better spot (and what a spot we ended up getting but you’ll have to wait for that story). DD got some waves from some of the characters. As the parade finished we fought our way through the crowd to do Small World- DS has fond memories of this ride in WDW (gosh Ive just worked out he was still in primary school last time he went and now hes about to graduate from Uni).

After this we decided to wander out of the park through Discoveryland, and up Mainstreet stopping to buy some cookies in the sweet shop to munch on later.
We remembered we needed to try to book Buffalo Bills for the following Tuesday (which would be the first day of the next part of the trip) so went to the booking office next to the cinema however it was closed as the show was closed for that day. There was a sign telling people that when closed to go to the other kiosk in the Village. We located this to try for the 3rd time that day to book the show only to be met with a sign on one of the 2 windows saying closed. There were 2 CMs there behind the windows so we went to the one that wasn’t showing a closed sign and asked. We were greeted with the words ‘Ferme’ (even though the times posted above the window meant it should still be open) We asked what time it would be open and were told 9.00am. Oh well never mind we’d just have to hope we could book it when we arrived next week – Yes I know it would have been easier to book before we went but we couldn’t make up our minds if we wanted to go or not.

We were heading to Berny Riviere campsite tonight for 6 nights to chill before another few days in the parks so we waved goodbye to the park, relocated the car and set off to our next base where the word ‘chill’ was to take on a totally different meaning.

very good stuff, looking forward to reading some more!

The description of your food at Blue Lagoon will send horror chills up and down my friend's spine if I let her read this before our trip -- that is her nightmare of what French food will be like-- all seafood or things she can't identify.
