My first grade class is doing a FLAT STANLEY project. Flat Stanley is the character in a childrens book. Stanley Lambchop is "Squished" when a bulletin board falls on him. He is able to mail himself all over the world and he has some wonderful adventures. My class is sending out Stanleys to have adventures. Since I do quite a bit to try to educate them about people who are different etc. I would love to send out a Stanley to someone in a wheelchair, who has a seeing eye dog or other disabilities so the children can see that people who have a disabliities are the SAME they just live a little different then we do. I will send out Stanely along with the letter the children wrote . All we need is a letter back telling us about Stanley's visit. What you did, where you went etc. I would love it if you could send a few photos. I could have Stanley go with my DS but I would like to have the children "meet" someone else as David has a stroller and they know David. I would really appreciate this. Please let me know if you would be willing to help out my first graders...Thank you in advance.Oh, this does NOT NEED TO BE A GROWNUP. It can be anyone who would be willing to help us out

I already posted on your Theme Parks thread that you can send one to us. We hosted one for my niece and he had some interesting adventures. He can ride on the lift bus and go to school with my DD.

Hi D,L and K's Mom!

Flat Stanley can come and visit us in the UK, and go to school with my DS who has ASD. He could spend a day in a UK specialist autism base! What fun! That is, if he wants to, it might be a bit far :moped:

I will PM you with my address :)

I now have the list of addresses and Flat Stanley will go out next week!! The envelope will have St. John the Evangelist School in the return address! Thank you all so much. I am so excited and I know my children will be too!!! Hugs to all of you!!! :grouphug:

Thanks everyone. I forgot Stanley will be coming from Uptate NY in Spencerport. We are right next to the Erie Canal (you can see it from the school) Thanks again.

we'd be willing to take stanley, if you still need someone else, let me know and I'll send info. DD10 uses a wheelchair and he can go to school with her sometime, and dd7 would also take him around.

If Stanley would like to go to college, I would be more than happy to host Stanley. I use a wheelchair and sign language and am president of a student disability organization...just let me know.

Let me know if you think Stanley would like to visit Cash, the Wonder Dog and I in Central Texas. At the moment I'm remodeling the house to make it a little more accessible for me to get around in and Cash is helping me to "break in" my new accessible car...a Toyota that looks like a refrigerator on wheels...The only car I could find that I could have a hoist put in so I could transport my electric scooter...We have a lot of fun going places now...

Just wanted to say that even though we are only 1 town over we'd love to host Flat Stanley. Between DS & his Asperger's issues and DH with his deafness & cochlear implant, Flat Stanley would have fun with us!

If you'd like just count us in! :)

I would be a happy host to Flat Stanley. I will be making two trips to WDW in March and would be happy to take him with us on either of the trips.

Let me know! :goodvibes
