Which restaurant for Pirates Night?

Hi everyone!

First time poster and Disney cruiser here.

We are going on a 4 night Halloween on the High Seas cruise on the Dream. I have Palo booked already for the second evening when we are in Nassau since we are planning on staying on the ship all day.

My question is: If I'm going to try to request a certain dining rotation, which restaurant would you recommend being in on the third night for Pirates night? Looking at all the menus, Animator's Palate has the least appealing regular rotational menu, so I was thinking of requesting EAAR. However, if our only experience is at Animator's on Pirate night, will we miss out on any of the usual show?

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi there, yes, on a 4 night cruise, if you're in Animators on Pirate night you will see a different "show" from the regular one. For us, we don't care for the pirate night menu so we do our Palo reservation on pirate night. Hope that helps.

Thanks! Very helpful. I've heard mixed reviews on the pirate menu too, but we have our Palo night booked for another night this time. Now I know for next time : )

Follow up question. Do you book restaurants yourself like you do at Disney World?

On DCL, you are assigned a dining rotation. So on a 3 night on say the Dream for example you might see a rotation of "AER". This means you would be in Animators the first night, Enchanted Garden the second, and end in Royal Palace. The premium restaurants like Palo and Remy, yes you book them with your cruise activities or you can also book once onboard.

Thank you for the information. So if we get Animators Palate for Pirate night we should make a reservation for Palo or Remy? Can our 6 year old daughter dine with us?

Sorry, no kids. FWIW While the menu is only so-so on Pirate night, we get the fun out of dressing in Pirate Garb (capitalized on purpose:smooth:)

EDIT: we've let the kids eat on the own in the MDR, in the CLAB/Edge or one time with room service. Whatever you're comfortable with should you want to eat in Palo/Remy

They did eat in the club/lab. As they got older, they left the CLAB, headed up to the pool deck and got food. On 2 occasions, we talked to our server and the head server who watched over the kids as they ate in the MDR, then escorted them to the CLAB.

For young children, are they in the kids club eating dinner in order for you to eat at Palo? This will be our first time in a Disney cruise. Thanks
Dinner is served in the kid's club. Be aware it's at a set time, and may not actually coincide with your reservation. You can also feed the kids from the quick serve locations before taking them to the club, or room service.

Is there a way to request a certain dining rotation? I thought it was just randomly assigned....

You can always put in a request. But it is never guaranteed. And it's easier to ask for something like "Have MDR X on the first night." or "Have MDR Y on Pirate Night." than a rotation as those are subject to change but you're always going to have an MDR on night 1 and an MDR on Pirate Night.

It doesnt really matter what dining room you get for pirates night as the pirate night menu is the same in all 3 main dining rooms. If you've never experienced pirate night, you may want to give it a try - it could be fun for your daughter. You can check out the pirate night menu online and see what you think about it. Some people like it, some people don't.
