Where are we, Jersey? Bye, Phoenicians! An August 2017 TR * NEW DINING/TR LINKS*

I'm the worst at commenting along but loved the report and you know I will be along for the next one! I loved the window into Universal. Our family loves it and I need to plan a return trip.

Hey Melinda, I love that you let me know you're handing around  You're busy getting ready for something BIG, and I've been absolutely terrible keeping up with everyone's reports too so no worries!
I know you enjoy Universal; I think it's a great alternative to Disney for many and I do know lots of people who love both for different reasons. I also think there are some great things there and I think the resorts are beautiful! On the other hand I think they need to work on quite a few things, some of those things are "behind the scenes" things the general public wouldn't necessarily know about. One thing I really disliked was that they make guests pay for parking at the resorts and Disney didn't and I thought that was a huge thing; of course now..............:sad2:

Love your trip reports! This one was fun. Looking forward to living vicariously through you and reading your next one!

Just binged this! Pretty neat. I'm wondering about those fancy cars at the hotel. The Universal area is so crowded, and I-4 is such a death trap; I can't imagine there's anywhere fun to take those things for a drive.

We each had a couple and they were as good as they were on Sunday night! When we got down there, a fellow agent named Michelle was sitting alone at the bar :charac2: After dinner at CityWalk her and her roommate, like many of us, went to see the new castle light show. After that they went on Forbidden Journey for the first time, and unfortunately it made her roommate seriously nauseous and she threw up twice before making it back to the resort and then a few more times upon getting to the room, so she was currently in bed, in the dark, no TV on. Leaving Michelle no choice but to sit at the bar and drink alone until we showed up!

Oh man! :( That's horrible, but glad you ended up hanging with her and getting to know her.

And finally, I can say I'm done! Thank you to everyone who has followed along from the beginning, who came in late and thought I was cool enough to keep reading along, and a big :thanks:  to everyone who continued to hang with me to hear about my Universal training. You guys make it fun to write these things and I'll be back soon to regale you all with tales from our spring break trip last week!

Thank YOU for writing it all up. I know that it takes effort and time to do so. :)

Thank you so much for the kind words, I appreciate it! Glad you enjoy my reports and I hope you like my new one just as much :goodvibes

You have a point there :scratchin I really don't know much about driving those cars, maybe I'll ask my fellow TA's! Wondering if maybe you aren't allowed far off Uni property? Or if you have to sign something before you drive away? Would be interesting to know...........

Oh man! :( That's horrible, but glad you ended up hanging with her and getting to know her.
Right? It's uncomfortable enough sometimes to be away from family and friends, often with people you're meeting for the first time at these TA trainings. And then on top of it to get sick :( At least Michelle wasn't the one ill but what do you do/where do you go when your roommate is violently ill?????

Thank YOU for writing it all up. I know that it takes effort and time to do so. :)
:thanks: for following along!! Yes, as you know it can take lots of time to write them (and finish them!) But it's just so fun!!!!

Wow I went on quite a journey with you! Sounds like a great trip. We are doing our first august trip so was looking for an august trip report and am glad I found yours!! Cool that you got to go on GMR the day before its last day. I always loved that ride.

While what I'm about to describe was SO NOT COOL, I would be lying if I said it didn't add some spice to the evening........

So 2 parties ahead of us was a young couple, I'd say late 20's-early 30's, and their 2 kids who were under 4 and both in strollers. Behind them there was a guy in his mid to late 50's and he was talking to them, and talking to them and talking to them. Loudly. Mostly to the woman (mom) and he kept putting his hand on her shoulder and like, spinning her around to get her to listen to him. I assumed the were together but Cathy said no. Behind this guy were two young kids who looked 16 but must have been at least 21 (we find out later they are his son and son's gf). So 50's guy is getting louder and louder and it's obvious he's been on the La Cava line a few times :rolleyes1 and the couple in front of him, whom I still think are with him, are annoyed. Well all of a sudden he spins the GUY (dad) around and plants one on this man's lips! OK. Are they together :confused3
Then 5 minutes later he puts both hands on the mom's shoulders, turns her half way around and kisses her cheek loud and long. The dad-guy looks PISSED and I realize Cathy is correct and they are not together.
This lucky couple is finally let in to La Cava.
So we have decided 50's man is pretty well wasted and so is his son's gf, who actually keeps giving 50's man long, long hugs and telling him how much she loves him. Son is standing there looking like Patrick from SpongeBob. 50's man is cursing up a storm; normally I'm all for the cursing since my mouth is really bad but hey, you're in Disney and you need to tone it down. He's also stuttering and staggering so we're keeping our distance. Then the CM manager, a young, very tiny woman goes up to 50's man and we hear her tell him that this will be his last round of shots :drinking1and those 3 go in.

*THIS MAY HAVE BEEN A GOOD TIME TO ALERT SECURITY, MAYBE*

Luckily since we're next, we have a front row seat to what happens next.....

Within I swear, 30 seconds 50's man is at the bar starting a fight with a guy in his 20's wearing full on Eagles gear about how bad the Eagles suck (this was 2 nights before the Super Bowl). And in the next 30 seconds 50's man said "bulls*#$" about 10 times SO loud. So over comes the tiny manager lady, taps him on the shoulder, and tells him he has to leave. He does not listen. The manager then attempts to tell his son/son's gf that they need to leave but they begin to yell at her asking why and saying it's discrimination. Maybe age-ism? I don't know, he was a total white man from middle America from the sound of it so not sure what they were getting at. Discriminating against drunks acting like a-holes, yes definitely. 50's man then turns around and starts arguing with the manager, another small female CM hostess has now come over. The manager is really keeping her cool while we're all looking on and all of a sudden- OMG I still can't believe he did this - 50's man TAKES HIS FINGER, AND POKES THE MANAGER IN THE FOREHEAD. RIGHT ON THE FOREHEAD. Like pushes her back almost. Holy crap Cathy and I both did a deep unbelieving inhale, one of the male bartenders came from around the bar and then these 3 walked out. But, but then the manager starts yelling at 50's man to come back because he needed to wait for security to escort him out of the park, what??? Like he's going to wait, lady he just poked you in the head. Cathy and I felt for her because CM's should not have to put up with this but how can you then tell a guest to stay put in order to be kicked out? See my above comment in pink,

*BECAUSE WE HAVE MISSED THE BOAT ON ALERTING SECURITY*

Good for him I wasn't the one...they would have been waiting around for the paramedics not security. I'm not a violent person, but some drunk jerk tries to turn me around, the training will kick in. I also feel pretty strongly about a guy hitting a girl and while poking a finger to the forehead may not be hitting per se, it is still legally assault & battery.

I can't believe our spring break trip is only 23 days away! It's coming so quick - although I suppose my little Feb. trip helped :D Soon I'll give you guys a look at what we have planned but first I want to finish up mine and Cathy's last Disney day so I can move on to our Universal training!

But wait - have I mentioned that in July I'm going to become...........

A GRANDMA?? :cheer2::cheer2:

And you know what the best part is? It's a princess:
After all my boys I'm finally getting a little girl to dress in Princess dresses and buy princess toys, I cannot wait! Now I just need to decide what I'm going to be called :scratchin Steve's already decided he wants to be Pops :goodvibes

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

We stood under an overhang and ate, trying to decide what to do. We were really just so miserable in the drenching rain that we decided to head over to the restaurant where our dinner was and get a drink while we waited, as it was only 4:20 and dinner was at 5. Oh and let me explain here: after dinner we were supposed to ride the floats in the Mardi Gras parade like Pam, Cathy and I did last year. We had SO much fun! Unfortunately they cancelled the parade due to the rain.
So our dinner was going to be Mardi Gras themed and was being held at Lombard's Seafood Grille. We walked in and explained to the hostess that were with the travel agency and we knew we were early and were just going to sit at the bar. She looked at us like we had two heads and explained

:scared1: THERE WAS NO BAR :faint:

Um, what?

Trying to catch up.

Wait!!! You were at a Mardi Gras themed place and no bar. Obviously someone had spent too much time at the bar when they designed this.

Well, I finally caught up, but I skipped over many of the replies to do it. Great, you're starting another one so I can fall behind again! :sad2:
