This video was a little nicer ...more music, more talking, more people. :)
I guess one of the pluses of using an ECV for me while in the park is that I don't touch the handrails nearly as often as most guests. I had a silly visual pop up in my brain the other day. Remember when they used to have the red badge that they would hand guests for tracking queue times? Well now, instead of that, there will be someone who moves through the queue with a cleaning cloth in each hand that they use as they move through the queue. Picture it, both hands have cleaning cloth dripping with solution wrapping around the railing sliding along as the person moves along. Then at the end of the line is a bucket full of dirty cloths and a cast member with a button that they toss to you that says "I helped keep the parks clean." LOL 🤪 Maybe I need more sleep.

Ha! I remember those days, when a guest would carry the badge to the end of the line. I can totally visualize someone cleaning the rails as they move forward in the line ...and the "I helped clean the parks" badge would be awesome. lol

Those are some great questions and concerns. As for bus transportation, I had not thought about how they are going to be able to handle that. I guess Disney really will need to put on their thinking caps to plan for the future opening.

I love the live shows too, and I hope they will come back in the future. I am kind of claustrophobic and got caught up one night in the "sea of humans" when we went one Christmas. They let us leave via a back way and I was very happy to be out of the crush of people. I hope your trip will be a great one and it'll be nice to read about the changes. I don't think we'll plan to go back for about a year.

Seriously though, as someone who travels from out of state and stays on property, I'd like to see screenings (both health and security) done before resort guests have to get on the buses (or whatever Disney transportation there is). I'd really hate to be on the bus with a person who was sick. Also, I'd hate to be the person who spends an hour riding the bus, just to be turned away once I got there. Then how do I get back to the resort? Would I be allowed back on the bus? Would I have to find my own way back? If they screened resort guests prior to lining up for transportation, then they could have a special entrance queue for resort guests at the parks that by-passed the screening queues for guests that drove. Just a thought.

My next trip is in mid-October (booked at the 500-day mark), so I realize that things could change several times before then. I'm just really curious (like everyone else) about how things will be handled. I really hope that at least shows will be operating. I completely understand not having parades or fireworks. Anyone that has gotten trapped in the sea of humanity trying to exit the park after fireworks can see that social distancing would be impossible.

and as a final note... My ring tone on my phone is the Electrical Parade music. 🎶

ETA - I'd loved it if they had a instructional video on how things will be operating. An updated one for the Magical Express and then another one on the resort TVs with tips on what to do and how to act in the parks.

OK... so maybe we need to get you a *little* bit more sleep! LOL But I did get a really good laugh out of that idea!

I too have wondered about the buses, and how that's going to be handled; I remember seeing the other day some discussion about how people coming through TTC to MK (for example) would be screened at TTC and they would then bypass the screening area on the MK side. (This was on a story about the changes to TTC that would be unveiled when the Parks reopen) That led me to believe that it could be possible that bus riders will either see a security bag check/prescreen at every Resort prior to boarding transportation (not likely, because that would be a HUGE increase in manpower - and you have some resorts like Poly where there are 3 modes of transport, so you would have to have 3 stations minimally) or they will be moving the screening for incoming bus riders at every Park down closer to the buses than they were before the closure, which allows for greater control of passengers: if everyone in that security line came in on a resort bus, then there is no question how they would be sent back.

(and for purposes of this discussion, we aren't including Disney's Magical Express - although that is another topic that should be addressed, shouldn't it?)

It's my understanding that one of the things being considered/discussed is bus capacity, and how distancing will be implemented on the buses when it comes to seating; there will likely be no standing. One of my personal great concerns is the inevitable "That Guy" who gets on the bus, and then once it is in motion, takes off his mask and does not put it back on because it is "too hot" or some other nonsense.

The obvious solution is to drive a car to the Parks, but then I have other issues with that, not the least of which is if I drive to WDW, I am not in the mood to drive myself around Florida; there are too many tourists, all gawking at one thing or another, and I don't want to get in a wreck on vacation! And, if I fly in to MCO, I don't want to have to rent a car, and then drive to Disney *and* drive myself around... that's even more misery! I'm on vacation, and one of the reasons I love Disney World is because once I get there, I leave *everything* to a Disney CM that I humanely can.

That *definitely* includes driving!

I don't doubt for a moment that this (how to handle buses, boats, monorails & to some extent, the Skyliners) is a *huge* issue as part of reopening the entire Resort goes. If nothing else, you have the sanitation issue - Guests will be boarding a vehicle that has just been used another group of Guests, and most likely without sanitation service between passenger loads. (Yeah... sit with that idea for a moment. Used to never bother me a bit, never thought twice about it...)

If you try to reconcile that by saying "Well, everyone will have masks on!" that minimally assumes (as we already discussed above) that "That Guy" wasn't in the previous group of Guests. And it does nothing to address the notion of the asymptomatic Guest; that person who does not know they are sick, and so are silently spreading the virus.

It's all a *lot*, and I don't envy anyone at Disney Parks who has to try and find the best path to reopening through all of these questions. It's all a calculated risk, and at some point, each person may have to decide for themself how much risk they can bear in the name of vacation.

Post #44-A few photos of how Universal Studios is using social distancing on the attraction rides and spacing for future live shows - PHOTOS - kennythepirate - June 4, 2020

499087

Even the shows had clearly defined areas in which the guests should stand to observe the show. It was an Annual Passholder preview, so the majority of guests followed the guidelines for spacing well.

499088

Even the ride vehicles are using physical distancing measures. A family group is boarded together, then an empty row is left behind.

Post #45-A Very Different Disney World: Cast Members Will No Longer Take Photos on Guest Phones; Some Attractions Will Not Be Available - PHOTOS - Orlando Sentinel Gabrielle Russon - June 4, 2020

According to Orlando Sentinel, Eric Clinton, who leads Local 362, shared some additional changes to the Theme Parks operations.

“Don’t ask a Cast Member to take a photograph with your phone either. Employees will politely decline. That’s how serious Disney is taking this. That’s a very different Disney World you all worked at back in March,” Clinton stated.

In addition, Clinton shared many rides and attractions will not be available when Walt Disney World reopens.

Clinton specifically mentioned Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage, a stage show held in an outdoor theater at Hollywood Studios, as an example of something that might not be available.

So, Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage is just one of several outdoor theaters in all four parks. Disney hasn't made any official statements if open-air outdoor live shows, but I wonder what that means for indoor live shows like The Lion King live show?

Other attractions may need to be closed for parts of the day for cleaning and sanitation.

This should be interesting waiting in line and it closes and you may have to wait, but I understand.

I wonder what the July guest's experiences will be like in July with so many changes like safety guidelines and loss of certain attractions, FP, Character meals, Parades, Fireworks and Character Meet and Greets?

Post #46-We Went to Universal Orlando for Their Passholder Preview. Here’s What It Was Like! - PHOTOS - allears Morgan Flaherty June 6, 2020

499367

Similar to CityWalk, the theme parks and hotels also require a temperature screening. If you’re staying a hotel, you will have your temperature taken upon entry. If under 100.4 degrees, you can get a wristband, and won’t need to have your temperature taken at the theme park for that same day.

Another requirement for entry is a face covering, which is required for all guests two and up. These must be worn at all times, including on the rides.

499369
499371

We took a Universal bus from our resort to the parks. We were told by our driver that buses typically hold 45-50 guests, but are currently limiting capacity to 17 per bus.

499374

I think Disney may be designing something similar to replace the Fast Pass app that may be called the Genie app.

Once you get your time, you’ll have a QR code available that a team member can scan when you go back to get in line. During our visit to Gringotts, we noticed that they looked at our app coming into the attraction. However, they didn’t scan it right away. (We learned later they were having issues with the tablet.)

499376

Signs are displayed outside attractions with stadium-style seating indicating where guests can sit on the ride. Before you enter the attraction, you will be asked to put your backpack away on select rides before entering. You will be given locker bay to use by a Team Member — at Escape from Gringott’s we were also given a ticket with our bay number on it.

499377

Although the queue may seem longer than it is, the line moves quickly still. The speakers will come on from time to time to remind you to keep your masks on

499378

As a way to lessen contact on the attraction, guests are no longer able to grab their own cart goggles before boarding the ride. A Cast Member will provide them to you from a sanitized tray.

499379

And, while you’re on the ride, we suggest putting your face mask underneath the goggles so you don’t fog them up!

499380

The motorbike vehicles are cleaned after each ride before the next round of guests can board. There is one part per row with every other row blocked off. While we did feel our masks get breezy and slide up a bit, it didn’t feel like it was going to blow off at any point.

499383

There is a requirement to use hand-sanitizer prior to the the ride. The carts will now have seating in every other row with one party per row.

If you’ve ever wondered what a water ride is like with a mask, we’ve got answers for you! Once you’re seated on Jurassic Park River Adventure, you can remove your masks for the duration of the ride.

499390

The carnival games throughout the parks are also open during this time for guests.

499393

Universal Orlando has always had a variety of free-roaming characters throughout the parks, from Popeye to Scooby-Doo and even Marvel characters. They also have a number of daily street performers.

499391

We also noticed that all face characters were wearing face masks! This included some of the entertainers, like the choir at Hogsmeade.

499394

There are now distancing markers placed throughout entertainment viewing area in front of the performers to encourage guests to maintain distance.

499395

Walk-up snack stands are currently open with markers indicating where to stand as you wait your turn. As far as locations selling alcohol, if a location sells food, they’re permitted to sell alcohol, but bars and bar carts are not permitted at this time.

499396

For sit-down restaurants like Mythos, guests are brought to their table and given a one-time paper menu to use. Similar to what we saw at locations like Margaritaville at Universal’s CityWalk, we also took our silverware from a tray brought over by our server, instead of them handing it to us directly.

499397
499398
499399

The stores are still selling face-coverings and hand-sanitizer for guests to purchase while they are in Universal Orlando.

499401

Throughout the parks, there are a few places that get a bit more crowded than others. Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley are two of the places to keep in mind for crowds when you’re visiting Universal Orlando. However, the farther back into the area you go, the less crowded it becomes (in our experience).

I wonder if WDW will have similar rules as Universal resorts?

What new operational procedures are in place at the hotels?
  • Guests, team members and vendors are required to wear face coverings in public areas.
  • Team members and vendors will be required to have temperature checks upon arrival. Those with temperatures of 100.4 degrees or greater will not be allowed to work.
  • Guests will be asked to self-screen for COVID symptoms and quarantine orders prior to arrival/entrance
  • Guests will have temperature checks upon arrival and return unless previously checked at the hotel that day prior to boarding our resort transportation system. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater after three checks, including one with a new thermometer, will be asked to seek medical attention and obtain medical clearance prior to being permitted to enter. We understand some guests may feel they have special conditions, which we will consider upon request.
  • Hand sanitizer stations in public areas and elevator landings
  • Enhanced cleaning of guest rooms, meeting rooms and public areas with an EPA-approved cleaner and disinfectant
  • All guest rooms will be serviced after checkout. When possible, guest rooms will be left vacant for 24-48 hours upon checkout, before thoroughly cleaning and checking in a new guest.
  • Frequent cleaning of high-touch areas such as telephones, remote controls, door handles, light switches, elevators, and table tops, among others
  • Food & Beverage outlet capacities limited based on latest recommendations and guidelines
  • Guests and staff are required to practice social distancing; social distancing signs and reminders will be in high-traffic areas
  • Several contactless experiences for guests, including hotel texting-services, express checkout and contactless room deliveries

Universal’s Hotels - New Safety Information Beginning June 2, the phased reopening of Universal’s hotels will include Hard Rock Hotel, Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Universal’s Aventura Hotel and Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Surfside Inn and Suites. Plans for Loews Portofino Bay Hotel and Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites will be announced at a later time.

Post #50-This One Disney World Restaurant Will have Character Dining, Plus More Important Dining Updates! - kennythepirate Monica Street - June 6, 2020

First, dining reservations are still not available. Once the new reservation system rolls out, Guests traveling within 60 days will be able to book their dining for the length of their stay (up to 10 days for onsite Guests).

Of course, we already know that the Disney Dining Plan has been canceled and will not resume until next year.

NEW: When in-park dining initially becomes available, you’ll need valid park admission, a reservation for park entry and a dining reservation to dine at an in-park, table-service restaurant.

Dining reservations do not guarantee admission to the park.

Cashless payments will be encouraged and Guests will be able to find digital menus for table-service restaurants. Guests can utilize mobile ordering for quick-service restaurants.

As we already know, character dining will not be available during the initial reopening. However, a modified character dining experience will be offered at Disney’s Riviera Resort at Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera.

There will be no other character dining!

Dinner shows will not be offered during the initial reopening as well as private dining and in-room delivery.

Post #51-Will a Disney Resort Hotel Reservation Guarantee Theme Park Access? Disney Answers That Question and More! - kennythepirate Monica Street - June 6, 2020

On June 22 select resorts will be available for Guests – select Deluxe Villa Resorts and the campgrounds at Ft. Wilderness.

We still do not know if and when other resorts will open.

Please be aware you will need:
  • A confirmed room reservation for your stay. Be sure to link your reservation to your Disney account to receive important information prior to your arrival—visit “My Plans” to get started
  • A confirmed dining reservation if you’re a day Guest (not staying overnight)
  • Face coverings for each Guest age 2 and up—which must be worn in all public areas, except while swimming or seated for dining
  • To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date is required. A Disney Resort hotel reservation does not guarantee theme park access. That’s a big one!

499549

Online check-in will NOT be required for resort stays.

Additional cleaning measures will be implemented. Increased cleaning in high-traffic areas (throughout the resort and in your room), extra linens that are in single-use packaging, double-cased pillows, and light cleanings that will take place every other day are some of the measures being taken.

You can still decline the every-other-day housekeeping services. See full details below. The Disney World website does not state whether or not you will be given the gift card for declining Mousekeeping.

499550

There are also a wide variety of resort services that will not be available:

Escort service from Bell services, club-level service, in-room celebrations, and more will not be available. Wow!

Feature pools may operate with reduced hours. However, leisure pools will be open 24 hours a day. They will also operate at reduced capacity.

499551

Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will not be available during the initial reopening period. Guests of this Disney Resort hotel may enjoy the leisure pool at Disney’s Beach Club Villas.

Fitness centers will reopen along with state guidelines but may have reduced hours and capacity. Instructor classes will not be offered.

Post #54-Disney's What We Know: DVC Resort Reopening Guest Information PHOTOS - dvcfan Amy Krieger - June 6, 2020

Visiting a Resort
Disney has stated that you will need either a resort reservation or a dining reservation, but the wording is unclear if this means you can not be on property without one of these or you can only go into a resort for which you hold a room reservation or a dining reservation.

499556

Disney’s Magic Express:
The good news is that the Magic Express will be operating to shuttle guests to and from the Orlando International Airport and resort hotels. It is important to note that resort airline check-in may be temporarily unavailable, meaning guests will have to place their luggage on the Magic Express with them at departure and check them at the airport themselves. No mention yet about luggage tags for arrivals.

499557

Cleaning:
Before our rooms are ready, they will undergo a very thorough cleaning. In addition to this, you can expect extra linens wrapped in single-use packaging, individually wrapped glassware, double-cased pillows, and other items that will have been cleaned and wrapped in disposable packaging. As usual, using DVC points will give us service on the 4th and 8th days unless you decline this service. If you have a split stay and decline, that selection will apply to all your reservations. Note that Disney reserves the right to enter any room for maintenance, safety, etc. even if the occupied sign is on the door.

Transportation
Before the parks open, transportation is going to be running from the resorts to Disney Springs only. After the theme parks open, that bus service will be expanded from the resorts to the parks. No other transportation method has been listed as being available during the initial opening period. It’s safe to expect delays with social distancing in place. Minnie Vans are also not running during this period, and there will be self-parking only for those driving (no valet).

499558

Bell Services & Deliveries:
Bell services will still deliver your luggage. They will not escort guests, and you must be in your room to receive luggage and receive any deliveries. No word yet on if luggage tags will be used and sent in advance with Magic Express information.

Fitness Centers:
Fitness Centers will be open with reduced hours and capacity. Fitness and sports courts will be open.

Recreational Activities:
The schedule for resort activities will vary, and you will be able to view what is offered during your stay.

Pools:
Feature pools may operate with reduced hours. However, leisure pools will be open 24 hours a day (I found this to be interesting). There may still be some poolside activities at select resorts. However, it is to be sadly noted that Stormalong Bay will not be opening during this initial period.

Merchandise:
While there will be modifications to the shopping experiences, you will still be able to shop at merchandise locations throughout the resort. Guests will still be able to ship packages to their homes, but will not be able to have packages delivered to the front of theme parks. No mention is made of guests sending packages over to their resort.

Online Check-In and Automatic Check-Out:
It is recommended that guests utilize online check-in instead of the resort’s front desk. On check-out day, guests will be emailed their hotel folio and be automatically checked out of their rooms.

Virtual Chat With Cast Member:
For assistance during your stay, you will be able to chat with a resort cast member via the My Disney Experience app to limit the need to visit the lobby and stand in line.

Other Services Not Available During Initial Reopening:
  • Club-level services (which makes sense since Jambo House was the only DVC option for that)
  • In-room celebrations
  • Dry cleaning
  • Shipping services
  • Some dining experiences
  • Room service and private dining
  • Stormalong Bay at Beach Club
  • Instructor-led fitness classes
  • Arcades
  • Campfires
  • Character Experiences
  • Dog Parks
  • Electric Water Pagent
  • Marina Rentals
  • Playgrounds
  • Spas, salons, and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
  • Fireworks
  • Fun runs
  • Hula Lessons
  • Wonderland Tea Party
  • In-room childcare
  • Mermaid School
  • Specialty classes

Post #56-Returning to a World of Magic Get ready to rediscover Walt Disney World Resort. Here’s what to know before you go. - June 6, 2020

As we prepare for a phased reopening, we’ve made updates based on guidance from health authorities, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and appropriate government agencies. These measures are designed to promote:
  • Cleanliness
  • Physical distancing
  • Reduced contact
It may be different from the last time you visited. But together, we can find new ways to create magical moments—and memories to treasure.

Reopening With a New Park Reservation System

Magic Kingdom park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park will begin a phased reopening on July 11—with Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopening on July 15.

The parks will reopen with some important updates to promote physical distancing, including:

Park Reservations: Initially, park attendance will be managed through a new park reservation system. To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date is required.

New Ticket Sales: At this time, new ticket sales are temporarily paused. Existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders will be able to make reservation requests in phases before new tickets are sold. Additional details will be shared with these Guests soon. New ticket sales will resume after that period of time.

New Disney Resort Hotel Reservations: At this time, new reservations at Disney Resort hotels are temporarily paused so we can focus on Guests with existing reservations (Disney Vacation Club Members can still make new reservations). Reservations will resume after that period of time.

Upon reopening, theme parks, Disney Resort hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences and other offerings may be modified and will be limited in capacity and subject to limited availability or closure, based on direction from health experts and government officials to promote physical distancing.

Additionally, attractions, experiences (such as shows, parades and fireworks), services and amenities may have limited availability or may remain closed. We will provide more information as it becomes available. We reserve the right to cancel any reservations, admission media or purchases and provide applicable refunds.

Here are the top things to know as you prepare to visit:

To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date is required

Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members; temperature screenings are required in some locations

Face Coverings
All Guests ages 2 and up—along with Cast Members—are required to wear face coverings when visiting Walt Disney World Resort. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming.

All face coverings should:

  • Fully cover an individual’s nose and mouth and allow the Guest to remain hands-free
  • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
  • Be secured with ties or ear loops
  • Be made of breathable material, either disposable or reusable
Costume masks are not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rules.

The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.

Temperature Screenings
Upon arrival at Disney Springs or at the Walt Disney World theme parks, you may undergo a temperature screening with no-touch thermometers.

Based on guidance from health authorities, anyone displaying a temperature of 100.4 F or above will be directed to an additional location for rescreening and assistance. Those with temperatures 100.4 F or above will not be allowed entry; those in their party will not be allowed entry either.

Before you leave home, be sure to check the temperatures of everyone in your party—including yourself—as an extra layer of precaution.

Some experiences—including theme parks—may be modified or unavailable to allow for physical distancing and limited contact

Physical Distancing & Limited Contact

While you're here, you may notice some temporary adjustments in place to ensure an enjoyable environment for everyone.

These may include:
  • Signage and Ground Markings: Please follow directional signage and ground markings, which have been installed throughout Walt Disney World Resort to help Guests better navigate common areas while practicing physical distancing.
  • Physical Barriers: Physical barriers have been added in select places where it is difficult to maintain strict physical distancing guidelines. These may be visible in areas around cash registers or at Guest Relations, for example, to help ensure proper distances between people.
  • Cashless Transactions: At this time, it is recommended all Guests use cashless payment options, including debit cards, credit cards and Disney Gift Cards. Guests can also opt for contactless payment options—such as mobile wallets—or use cash to purchase a Disney Gift Card at Guest Relations and select merchandise locations. Disney Resort hotel Guests can also use MagicBands to charge their purchase to their Disney Resort hotel folio.

Helpful Technology — Including the My Disney Experience App

We strongly recommend that you have the latest version of the My Disney Experience app on your mobile device, with location services and notifications enabled. And additional technology can help you make the most of the magic during your visit!

Highlights include:
  • Mobile Order Service for Dining: Please order ahead and save time at select dining locations using mobile order service, a feature of the My Disney Experience app. We highly recommend that you use this service during your visit.
  • Scannable Codes for Select Restaurant Menus: While at a table-service restaurant, you can scan a code to access the digital menu.
  • Online Check-In at Disney Resort Hotels: Please begin the check-in process in advance online or with the My Disney Experience app. You’ll get a room-ready notification so you can bypass the Front Desk. When your room is ready, you can use the My Disney Experience App as a digital key to enter your room!

Post #57-Disney World Shares Details For Resort Operation Changes Ahead of June 22nd Reopening - June 7, 2020

Of all the previous websites that I posted above today, I like how the LaughingPlace website put everything together just like lanejudy is updating on the regular Disability Forum.

I think I like this outline form.

I remember in the old days, that is what AllEars.net's first webpage used to look like.

I bolded some phrases that surprised me reading it for the first time.

Which Resorts are Reopening:
Walt Disney World has confirmed that the following Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts will reopen on June 22nd:
Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort
Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village
Disney's Beach Club Villas

I'm confused, if you have an AP but staying off site, can you still get a PARK reservation? To me , it almost seems like you have to have a room to try to get one , but that doesn't mean you will get one.

I wonder if Disney will change the way getting out of wheelchairs/scooter at rides. Usually DH would stay in wheelchair until maybe 10 - 20 feet from the ride, then CM would take the chair. Will disney now want the guest to put the chair in the parking spot, so less contact between guest and CMs?

Hi, jo-jo.

There is so much information from the last two days it is can be confusing.

I can't where Disney has said anything about AP's and park admission, yet.

We are all waiting to hear about Disney's new Park Reservations details.

Will they have some type of tier system for AP, DVC, on-site resort guests, or off-site resort guests?

I don't know.

The two quotes below are what I found from Disney.

[QUOTEPark Reservations: Initially, park attendance will be managed through a new park reservation system. To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date is required. [/QUOTE]

To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date is required. A Disney Resort hotel reservation does not guarantee theme park access. That’s a big one!
