Just returned from our first "family trip" to disney world (I was there 21 years ago!)
Me, DH, DS & DD (who has autism!) - It went wonderful!!! The weather was hot and the lines were low! There did seem to be a lot of people out (to me at least) but the longest we waited was 20 min and that was mid afternoon! My husband insisted that we see how Leah did before going to guest services for her. So we rented a stroller (double) she kinda looked like baby Huey in there (she's 10 & weighs about 85 pounds!) We headed over to space mountain and there was no line so off we went! We had been to Busch Gardens on Monday and Leah loved all the rides (yes, the upside down ones!!) She got to the bottom and said "more" so we did it one more time! By the time the day was over we rode that ride FOUR times!!! we did all the traditional stuff and then went to meet Mickey @ toontown, when we finally got to meet him Leah was tired from waiting in line and keep saying "Minnie" and pointing to a picture of her, She was starting to have a melt down!! They were going to take a picture of her and I mentioned to the lady that she was autistic so it was hard to get her to smile on command! The lady asked if we had seen the rest of the characters and I said "no" She took the kids picture and said "come with me" We then went to another building and she talked to some people and then we were lead into a room with Minnie, Pluto, Cinderella and others!! I tell you I could have cried right there and then, I truly believe that the cast member named Sylvia went above and beyond her job!!! I will soon right to Disney to praise her!! We had a GREAT trip! Next time (yes there will be a next time) we will get a bigger hotel room, we stayed at the All-Stars and the rooms were just to small for the four of us! I got the $49 rate, but i think Iwould have been disappointed had I paid the original $99 rate!! It did the job! Any questions fill free to ask! Back to doing laundry!!

One other thing, we went to Universal Studio's on Friday and loved that park too! We did all the "major" rides! If you like scary rides its a great park!!

WELCOME HOME!!!!
Glad to see ya back in one peice and glad to know you had a blast!!!\

I had an encounter with Chubaka at MGM my first year....he was going home to rest (ie downstairs) and he saw me sitting there w my camera....he not only posed for me but came up to me (and I was pretty far away from him) and hugged me...I was just stunned ....and picking wookie from my shirt all day LOL :) j/k

Don't you just LOVE Universal!!!! That place is AMAZING to me!!! Just plain AMAZING!!! :)

I am so glad you had a good time, and that they took such good care of you. :)

Welcome back, I am glad to hear that you had such a good time, especially your DD. We were down there last Feb with our DD who has CP and we are going again next June, the major difference will be that we will have her wheelchair with so I think it make make the transportation easier.

Thank you for sharing some stories from your trip. Be sure to let Disney know how much you appreciated CM Sylvia going out of her way to add to your family's magical visit with the characters. Glad you all had a nice family vacation!

What a great story! We had a similar event at toontown, and I could hardly believe my eyes when we were escorted to a room with Cinderella and then later to see Goofy, Minnie and I can't remember who else.

Well, I did cry when I saw Cinderella... i felt like such a goofball!! Kevin was on a Make A Wish trip and it was a great experience. I am so very glad to hear you had fun and enjoyed everything - and had such a cool cool moment!!!!

I'm so glad to hear you had a good trip, I've been looking forward to hearing about it. I too would be a big ball of tears if I had the kinds of charector interaction for my DS. I don't feel so scared to go when I hear such good trip reports. Thanks!!!

Glad to hear you had such a good time. And writing a praise for that CM is a great idea! There are a lot who go out of their way to make a good experience for someone and it's good to let WDW know about them.
