Intro: Hey this is Judy from Boise’s DD Mackenzie & I’m going to review our spring break 7-day trip to Las Vegas. I’ll be doing it in day-by-day style and mom will add her comments here & there so sit back relax & enjoy our Las Vegas review.

Saturday March 19: Mom had booked us a flight for 4:15pm. Perfect time to get on a plane but still have your 11:00am Sat. sleep in. When I did get up I did some final packing with my mom & played ‘Super Mario Sunshine’ on my Game Cube thinking about how I’ll miss it while I’m gone. After we said goodbye to Dad & our cat Kelsey, (well, really I said goodbye to Kelsey. Mom couldn’t care less) we drove to the airport in the rain. When we got there we sat at our gate & had McDonald’s chicken selects (which were quite good btw). Then it was time to board our Southwest flight that went directly to Las Vegas. The flight wasn’t bad at all. There were no screaming kids or anything bad like that. Mom spent all her time reading & I mainly listened to my Kelly Clarkson ‘Breakaway’ CD. :music: After our two-hour flight we landed in Las Vegas at 4:50pm (note that LV is an hour behind Boise time). We grabbed our luggage & headed out to catch the shuttle to the Tropicana hotel. Now I really hated this part of the trip b/c mom & I had to wait for what felt like 20 min. for everyone else to get on, for the driver to load on everyone’s luggage, & for the driver to finish his cigarette. :rolleyes2 One of the passengers had to get off & tell the driver to hurry up. When we finally left the airport we had a wonderful drive around downtown Las Vegas. During our drive it was just slightly raining & when our driver asked who brought the rain over mom & I were like “Uhhhhh” & everyone on the bus laughed, including us. :teeth: I even saw the Hard Rock guitar that was in one of my favorite movies ‘Honey I Blew Up the Kid’. That was really cool. When we got to the Tropicana hotel & went inside we were greeted with the sights & sounds of slot machines, craps tables, & black jack tables. I loved the casino & the smokers weren’t even that bad according to my mom (who is really picky about the smoke smell) All the hotels had good venlation in their casinos. When we checked in I was a little disappointed to learn that we were staying on the 2nd floor since I love staying on really high levels. When we got to our room, however, I was happy to see that we had an excellent view of not only our pool but also the MGM Grand, New York New York, & Excalibur. We even had a perfect view of the ‘Manhattan Express’ roller costar that’s in front of New York New York. The really cool part about our room is that there were mirrors behind, beside, & above our king-sized bed. When we were done unpacking, we decided to go explore some of the hotels near ours. First we headed off to the MGM Grand. It was still raining a little so we had to hustle up & across the bridge & into the hotel. Our first stop: The lions. When we got there, though, both of the lions (or lionesses since they were both girls) were both asleep on top of the glass ceiling above the clearing where people can look up. Mom & I went under it & saw the trainers were trying to wake them up having no luck whatsoever. I heard one guy comment “Maybe they had to much to drink!” & that made everyone laugh out loud! Including me! :rotfl: When we left the exhibit we headed for the Rainforest Café shop. It was a very nice shop, even if none of their name products had the name “Mackenzie” instead I bought a yellow tank top with “2005 Spring Break Rainforest Café” on it. After that we headed back out & on to the New York New York. Unfortunately the rain picked up while we were inside so now it was poring! :umbrella: Mom & I had to charge across the bridge to get inside. A lot of people had their coats books ect. Above their heads probably not used to all that rain. I even heard one guy say “Wow! It’s raining in the middle of the desert!” That comment also made me laugh. When we got inside the New York New York we took some time to look around their amazing casino. Personally I think that the New York New York casino is the best casino in Las Vegas because it really carries the theme of the city really well & if you gamblers out there are looking for a good casino I highly recommend this one. Mom & I even spent some time exploring the city part of the hotel, which is so cool & realistic with different food stops & stores all disguised to look like buildings on a New York street. By now we feel a little hungry so when we spotted a Ben & Jerry’s we ordered so ice cream (Mom: Butter pecan Me: Phish Food). Then we settled down on one of the many tables in the middle of “Broadway” & enjoyed our ice cream & the atmosphere. Later we decided to go up near the roller coaster entrance since we were going to ride it the next day. As we observed the line mom suggested that I look in the arcade that was next to us & see if it had Crazy Taxi (the best arcade game ever which sadly I don’t have on Game Cube :( ). When I found it I played two rounds of it while mom laughed as she watched me drive. It was a lot of fun. Finally it was starting to get late so we decided that it was time to head back to or hotel & go to bed (the rain also stopped, which was a good thing.). It was cool looking at ourselves in the ceiling mirror as we lied down on the bed. Finally we fell asleep ready for the next day.

Overall:
I wasn’t a bad staring day despite some of the negative things that happened (i.e. the rain.). Sorry if it was a little dull to read but I promise that the next one will be a lot more exiting since tomorrow we’ll be on the roller coaster & see a show. There is a lot more to come so stay tuned.

Judy here now..... I'm the boring detail person ! Our room at the trop was in the older tower. It was $199 for saturday night and $99 each for Sunday and Monday. I thought it was a good rate considering it was spring break. The shuttle ride was right at $5.00 each for a one way trip. The shuttle is always a little hassel, but on the bright side you get a "free tour" of the city !

Hi Mackenzie (oh, and Judy ;) ).... Great trip report so far!

We went to Vegas for just a couple of days back in August, and it was kind of raining on us then, too! Nick & Kelly were just there w/their dad (he likes to go a lot), and they stayed at the Stratosphere - they've ridden all the rides except the newest one. The line was an hour & 45 minutes just to get to the tower, and then they still had to wait in line for that ride -- they'll go another time. They saw a show called "We Will Rock You" based on songs from Queen - they said it was really good.

Sounds like you two had a great view from your room at the Tropicana, and you've already seen more of Vegas than I have. :)

Keep up the reports, I'm enjoying them.
