We spent time in Hamburg and Amsterdam after our DCL Norwegian Fjord cruise this summer. The kids saw some wild stuff on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg and the Red Light District in Amsterdam. Of course, with the "space cakes" they were chomping on in Amsterdam, they hardly noticed. :)

They changed it on the reservation but when you go to book shore excursions they all say "sold out".

Give 'em a minute. I'm sure it takes some time for them to make all those changes.

I will be shocked if they are back on the regularly scheduled Eastern route (which for the Fantasy is Tortola and St Thomas) in only a month...

They said that excursions will be available ~Friday. I would expect that they may not have all of the usual excursions. They do have to coordinate with local vendors.

We are booked for the Dec 16 '17 Fantasy Cruise in the Eastern Caribbean so it's still a ways off but our Paid in Full date is this week so we are torn between getting a full refund and do a week in the parks, or split a short cruise and the parks if it's likely going to be switched to a Western. Being that close to the holidays the cruise is already at a premium and we have been to the Western Ports several times so we wanted to try something new. Definitely, would be open to a different set of ports of 2 CC stops but on the fence of cancelling if it's likely all the Eastern's in the next 3-4 months will be Westerns.

Anyone have an idea if DCL will likely move this chance forward into 2018?

We will probably now hold off on taking any more cruises until 2018. Not sure we want to do another Western Caribbean at the moment, the Magic cruises stopping at Key West wouldn't be a good choice, and all the Easterns are currently becoming Westerns.

Hoping Nassau and CC took light damage that can be quickly repaired and then maybe a Dream back to back?

Agreed. We are now past our paid in full date as we sail 12/2. Trying to keep perspective here given the dire situations the islanders are facing. Not complaining at all! With that said, sailing on Disney is not cheap. This was a huge deal for my family given our medical bills. We are still beyond excited about our 1st Disney cruise. However, we have been to the western stops *many times* and just aren't fans. We chose the 12/2 sailing for the eastern stops. I just don't see ships being able to dock there for some time. I am crossing fingers that the revised schedule is good! Out of my hands, but if I had yet to make final payment, I would consider 'jumping ship'.

I imagine that all of the cruise lines are trying to secure slots in alternative ports, so it's not a sure thing that DCL will just go to all Western itineraries. Maybe Puerto Rico and Jamaica are possibilities.

I'm trying to keep it in perspective too. It doesn't feel right to be worried about things when those poor residents of BVI and other places have been harmed in so many ways. I know it's all relative though. We are booked for the 11/4 eastern and I'm expecting we will get moved to a western. We are beyond our paid in full date and can't really travel any other time of the year so we are going to make the best of things knowing that vacation time with family on a beautiful ship is pretty darn special. I am being honest when I say that as a planner I'm feeling nervous about rebooking things as I slaved away every last detail of when to book Palo, massages, etc. but Mother Nature doesn't much care that I'm Type A and I knew the risks about hurricane season going in. :) My honeymoon in Antigua 22 years ago was rerouted to St. Lucia after a hurricane and we still had an amazing time. Thank you all for posting updates!

My next cruise, literally, the itinerary was picked for me based on school schedule. So if we flop, my main disappointment was that I had planned some really great excursions, and I'd been to the VI before and wanted to bring the family along. I have been to Puerto Rico and Nassau, if those end up being on future reroutes of the Eastern, and am basically flying blind for the Western.

I feel really bad for the charter captain I'd booked Tortola with -- they seem really nice! And now none of their team have a roof not made out of tarp, and they don't know where their boats even ARE in harbor.

I understand the guilt people feel about the hurricane victims and having to think about changes in the Cruise itinerary but it doesn't diminish concern for the victims. You can have compassion and want to make sure your investment in your vacation is what you were expecting. Not blaming anyone, just my thoughts.

I see the article about St John but is there any info on St Thomas yet? My coworker was just there over Labor Day and is worried sick about the area they had been in. I assume its not good.. :(

You know what is oddly interesting? We didn't book our cruise because of the itinerary. We booked because the dates worked. Then I got myself all excited about St. John because people kept telling me how beautiful it was. It's crazy to imagine how much devastation they are facing down there right now.

did you see the article about Marriott sending a ferry over to St. Thomas to pick up their guests, filling about 1/2 of the 600 seats on the boat, and leaving the other 35 people there because of "liability issues" - I think that Marriott has lost some potential customers for life. I know that I will stick with other hotel chains in the future.

St. Thomas is not as bad as St. John or Tortola but it is in bad shape. Hospital lost roof, airport terminal is basically gone, and many hotels have announced they will be closed at least to the new year. Electric is coming back online which is good for water treatment. There is looting.

I heard the dock would not allow them to board additional passengers, not that it was Marriott's decision...

We're on the 2/18 Wonder which is supposed to go to St. Maarten and San Juan... no idea if that's happening.
