Unheated Small Pool in Feb.?

You'll want to pay for heat and make sure they have a cover for the pool at night when you aren't using it. We live in SW Florida and have our pool heater set at 86 degrees. We have a solar pool cover as well. Today it's in the 60's (temps dropped last night) and I wouldn't want to be in the pool without the heater.

Even with record heat an un heated pool would be too cold to enjoy in Feb

When would you say paying for heating becomes unnecessary? I'll be down in Orlando for a conference the first week of April and we've rented a house with a pool.

In the late winter/early spring you'll usually want to pay for heat - the time that it becomes possible to skip it is last fall/early winter when (if we've had a really warm fall) the water has retained it's summer heat. But once it gets cold in the winter it takes awhile for the water to warm up even if there are warm days.

In most of central FL, inland bodies of water are going to hover in the high 60's in February. There's a bit of a solar heating effect at the surface, but it doesn't hold for more than mud-puddle depth. Not frigid at all, but that's definitely hypothermia territory, so good thing you're getting the heat turned on.
