Our physician is advising us on taking our daughter to Bordeaux next year for surgery on her back and I was wondering if ya'll though it might be worth it to come in a few days early and give Disney Land Paris a try for a couple days?

Well, Bordeaux is quite a distance from DLP but it's not impossible! I guess you'll be flying into Paris and travelling down to Bordeaux?

Have you actually checked out France on Google Maps? As @Ware Bears has pointed out its a good distance. To me it would be like saying, Im going to Vegas for a week, and want to go to Disneyland in Anaheim.

For example, The Disney Cruise ship Magic docked in Le Harve this past July. Some people did the Disneyland Paris day excursion. It was a 3 hour drive from the port of Le Harve to Disneyland Paris, each way.

Also if your daughter is being advised to travel to Europe for back surgery, is it really a good idea to spend hours and hours walking and standing on hard concrete, being jostled by crowds?

She did Disney here this year twice already, so ya she will be fine in that regards, but I understand where your coming from. She works part time in a vets office and has to stand for a good while each day. We just thought that we would fly into Paris for one week and then after that, make the trip to Bordeaux for one week for the surgery. She is 21.
We are in the extremely early stages of this journey. I am overwhelmed and scared to say the least. I am just trying to make a little lemonade out of lemons. I am hoping any of you guys in France might be able to help me along the way?

ah ok, being 21 and having already experienced Disney parks she knows her bodys limitations.

Ok, so lets break this down a bit

Fly into Charles de Gualle
1. You need transport to Disney
Magic Shuttle
- a private non Disney bus company which has the licence to pick up and drop off at the Disney onsite hotels and partner / good neighbour hotels travel time to Disney approx 1 hour http://magicalshuttle.co.uk/
TGV - French state train company. The train station at Disney is beside the park entrance. Depending on your hotel you will either walk or get the free hotel shuttle bus. Travel time is 10 minutes BUT the trains are infrequent and the timetable may not suit your flight arrival time https://parisbytrain.com/tgv-train-cdg-to-eurodisney/
Private Car Service
There are a few, Im sure someone will advise you on a company they have previously used

2.How Long To Stay At Disney
Disneyland Paris is very like Disneyland California. There are 2 parks beside each other. I usually do 3 full park days, most people advise between 3 and 4 park days.

3. Where to stay
There are 6 onsite hotels and 6 partner / good neighbour hotels to suit all budget types
The onsite hotels give access to EMH and the shopping service and they get first priority for booking character meals.
The most expensive onsite is Disneyland Hotel, located at the park entrance. This would be deluxe. The moderates would be Hotel New York, Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay. The budget would be Cheyenne and Santa Fe.

Disneyland Hotel, Hotel New York, Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay all have a concierge level which have various degrees of extras included for the premium price.

4. How to get park tickets
If you book through Disneyland Paris website or through the Disney call centre the price is for a hotel and park tickets package. Park tickets for your arrival day and departure day are included. Disneyland Paris has different websites for each of the European countrys and there are different deals and offers on the website. You dont have to book through the website for your country, in fact it is advisable NOT to book through the USA Disneyland Paris site as prices are far higher. Disneyland Paris does not mail any documents, everything is through email. You just show your confirmation email when checking in.

Countrys to check
http://www.disneylandparis.ie/ - Ireland
http://www.disneylandparis.co.uk - UK
http://www.disneylandparis.fr - France
http://www.disneylandparis.de - Germany
http://www.disneylandparis.it - Italy
http://www.disneylandparis.nl - Netherlands
http://www.disneylandparis.be - Belguim

All the websites have the same layout, just in different languages, so just keep an English website open in one tab.

You can book direct through the websites. When you book this way you need to pay the full amount at the time of booking.

You can also book over the phone through the Disney call centre. Just ring the phone number for Walt Disney World in Florida and ask to be transferred to whatever country call centre you wish to book through.

5. How to make ADR

ADR open at 60 days from arrival. While its not the manic ring on the dot of midnight or you miss out of Walt Disney World, for some things like the Princess Meal you do need to make ADR. They can only be made by phone, so again you will need to ring the phone number for Walt Disney World in Florida and ask to be transferred to the Disneyland Paris Dining Reservations.

Most people only make ADR about 2 weeks before they arrive. You can also do ADR at your hotel reception or at Town Hall.

6. How To Get From Disneyland Paris to Bourdeaux
I did a quick Google search and found this for you https://www.trainline.eu/train-times/marne-la-vallee-chessy-to-bordeaux-st-jean
It says the travel time is approx 3 hours 40 minutes, there are 4 trains per day and fares range between €10 to €317

I use the UK version of trainline for train travel when I visit England, so it is a reputable company. Obviously, this is just a general idea of getting from Disney to Bourdeax as you havent said where exactly you will be going, you can figure that out yourself on the trainline website :)

Thank you for taking the time to try and start to help me. I will be visiting this part of the forums a lot during the next few months. I believe the time frame we are looking at is January/February/March. This is not when I want to go, but her medical condition is what is the most important fact here and we want to get her help as soon as we can.

I will say unless you are a huge Disney fan I would skip Disneyland and go and spend your time in Paris instead. Considering the back surgery and the limitations your daughter might not be able to ride quite a few rides it might not be worth it. I think easiest was is to book through Disney Uk. Not sure where are you located. Going with a package through Disney seem to be the easiest way.

Transport I think you need to wait to
Figure out where you decide to stay and flights schedule first to see the best option.

We have decided to do just one day at Disneyland, ( just getting tickets, not staying there) because there is so much else to see and do.
