Ugh that was awful.

Ugh that's so dumb. They let everyone take their phones on ours which I didn't expect because I had heard they ask you not to. They got some decent pictures of us but honestly we were only in like 7-10/150 of them so I'm glad we took a few of our own and our own of the animals.

I was so annoyed, I mean I took my camera and the CM was like "oh you really don't need it, we take so many photos that it's not worth it" Oh well, lesson learnt!

Do you watch Community? We're re-watching it now and I almost forgot how much I love it I love all your Community gifs.

Yesss! I love Community! Bring it back!! We can make it happen!

Day 5, Part 1: Goodbye Animal Kingdom, Hello Magic Kingdom!

The time to check out of AKL had arrived.

​

Being the organized pair we are we had packed up the night before (or rather one of us had, as the other hadn’t unpacked at all…) so we called down to bell services to collect our bags and move them over to our next resort!

We spent sometime enjoying our savannah view for last time whilst we waited. I miss this view.



Of a giraffe butt! Makes a change from zebra butts!


After bell services whisked our bags away it was time to hit the road. Bye bye room!






Bye bye Jambo House!




Hello Magic Kingdom! For first time this trip!






As we had plans at a different park later we didn’t have any FPs for MK. We did however have an ADR for lunch at 12:30pm so we had sometime to kill, how about some rides?

We made our way towards Adventureland.



I took a photo of Skippers Canteen thinking we might try it at some point in our trip (we didn’t) then it was time to get on our river cruise!








After pun filled river cruise it seemed like a good idea to keep the water ride theme going and hit up Pirates!



After that we made our way towards Frontierland and looked at the wait for Splash but the wait was too long. Guess it’s off to Liberty Square and Haunted Mansion!

I took some photos of the sadness that was closed BTMRR!

We resisted the urge to join the 999 happy haunts and headed towards New Fantasyland...and walked straight past it to Tomorrowland! We still had a little time before our ADR so what do you do in Tomorrowland when you have time to spare? Peoplemover of course!

After my favourite Tomorrowland attraction it was finally time to eat!

Back to New Fantasyland (can’t we just call it Fantasyland yet?) for our lunch ADR at Be Our Guest!

We had pre-ordered so we went straight to find a table, we ended up in the ballroom.

I got the croque monsieur.

It was really good! And what is this?! Another photo of DM’s food?!

She got the roast beef sandwich which she enjoyed!

Finally we got our dessert or cupcakes anyway! I got the Master’s Cupcake with the grey-stuff.

And DM got this chocolate one! Which was chocolatey! I am just on fire with these descriptions!

DM was not impressed with the cupcakes but she declared that lunch at BOG was much better than dinner. So there you go! Thanks for lunch pantless Prince Adam!

After lunch we didn’t have anything else we really wanted to do at MK so we headed out.

Another park was calling our names so we caught the monorail to the TTC and hopped on the Epcot monorail...cause that’s how you get to Epcot from MK!

Once we arrived at Epcot we headed straight for World Showcase.







Hello Canada!





Just popped home for some fish, chips and tea!









Oh hi France. Can't stop, must dash!


We had a very important destination to get to: the international gateway!

Yep we travelled all the way to Epcot just to walk straight out the other exit! I know what a great idea right?!

I did have a good reason for that, it was check in time at hotel number two!

Ready for the boat ride! But where are we headed??

Day 5, Part 2: Oh Goodie! My Two Favourite Things!

Yes you got it! The Beach Club! Isn't it beautiful?










We got checked in and made our way to our room...and straight back to the front desk! Turns out the room they gave us was a king bed room which didn’t work for us. The CM was great and got us all sorted out and then it was take two for the room!

I know people are mad that Disney is “de-themeing” their hotel rooms but I really like the more understated look they are implementing.


Our room was a wood/garden view and it was so nice and peaceful on our balcony.

DM was very impressed and kept asking why we had never stayed here before. Answer I have no idea! But she loved the Beach Club so much we are staying there for three weeks this year!


We unpacked and enjoyed the room for a bit before we headed back out for our FP. Of course I had to take more photos of the Beach Club area as I went! #sorrynotsorry!

And back to Epcot!

Our FP was for my favourite Epcot attraction: Test Track!

This was DM’s first time on Test Track as when we went in 2012 it was being re-themed into it’s current Tron-est state. Now I will say while TT is my favourite Epcot ride I do still prefer old skool TT. In fact I prefer a lot of old skool versions of Epcot attractions (*cough Figment *cough) and DM reallllllly misses Horizons and was very bitter about Mission Space!

Anyway DM loved TT and demanded I change all our Epcot days to include it!


There was still some time before our ADR and really when you are sans FPs in Future World the only logical thing to do is go on Spaceship Earth! Speaking of old skool Epcot I still prefer Jeremy Irons...sorry Dame Judi! But that might be because I miss the old ending! You can keep your stinking future! Bring back my old Spaceship Earth ending!!

Okay...I’m back!​

Anyway our time travel journey was fun and I finally got a blurry free photo of Miss Go-Go-Boots herself!

Spaceship Earth was clearly still mad that I trash talked it’s new ending and refused to give us a future.

But whatevs it was time to make our long journey around the world for food!


It was a really long (and really inefficient route) to get to our destination. We travelled through Mexico...

Norway...just trust me on that...then for some odd reason we went to China...

...But we were getting closer!

...From China we took a detour to Africa before arriving in Germany...

….Before we finally made to Italy!

Via Napoli!

The home of my two favourite things: cute Italian guys and pizza!

I got the make your own pizza with….erm…bacon and….erm….sausage? That looks like what it was but who knows!

It was really good! I know some people not rate Via Napoli but I really enjoyed it. DM loved hers too....whatever she had.

After our lovely dinner at Via Napoli we decided to head back to the resort.

Back to the internation gateway! Time for another global adventure! We left Italy and travelled to America….



...Before taking a very logical trip to Japan!






…Then hop, skipping and jumping to neighbouring Morocco…



…Which always leads to France!







...Before we reached the internation gateway I gave a wave to the old homestead (which funnily enough is the only country to country that makes real geographic sense!) Jolly old England!



Sorry Canada, we didn’t visit you as we headed out.

Day 5, Part 3: Yeah, I’m Just Going To Live Here Now

We didn’t get any dessert at Via Napoli so we were looking for some sugar! To the Boardwalk!

Seriously the Epcot resorts area is just so beautiful.

Okay so where should we go to get our sugar on? The Bakery?

Or maybe Ample Hills (don’t make a rude joke…) Creamery?

Well the latter has ice cream so….

Ample Hills it is!

So. Much. Choice.

In the end I got us a sundae to share.

​

It had Butter Pecan Brittle ice cream, salted caramel and hot fudge and of course whipped cream!

It was heavenly!

I may, or may not have had a mini photo-shoot with our sundae!

We sat watching the sunset eating our sundae...well I ate it anyway, DM decided she was too full! She is a proper weirdo.

It was so nice just watching the sunset, eating ice cream! I mean look at that view!

While the sundae was amazing it was huge and even I couldn't finish it!

We took a leisurely stroll back to Beach Club enjoying the scenery along the way.

For some reason I felt the need to take a photo of this little seating area and the elevators.

Your guess is as good as mine as to why! Who knows why I do anything!

The rest of the evening we sat on our balcony, it was so relaxing.





As we headed back into the room DM announced that the Beach Club was now her favourite Disney resort and with that we headed off to bed.

As the park didn’t open for a quite a while yet we had a bus all to ourselves.

Whereupon Lu, clubbed the driver over her head and took over, careening wildly throughout Disney property. Interestingly enough, she was more efficient than Disney's normal service. Go figure.

I have to say AK was pretty darn busy…

I got us all checked in with the lovely cast member, who did point out we were an hour early…

Good thing she was there!! How else would you know?

Yeah no...I don’t think anyone would get up at stupid o’clock in the morning to go to Rainforest Cafe. No offence if you have, you do you…

No. Thank goodness the DDs are old enough that if they ask I can now scream "NO" at them.

We were off to Wild Africa Trek!

Yay!

This was meant to be a surprise for mum but I suck at surprises and spilled the beans like a week after I booked it!

I know it's been over three years since you posted, but I do seem to remember that.

*Rant Warning* As you might have guessed from that nifty little warning I just gave you I am about to have a little rant. Now Wild Africa Trek was amazing, we both loved it. It’s such a great memory...which is all it is now as I have no photos from it. You see I took my fancy new camera (which I have no idea how to use to this day) with me to get some shots on the trek but the cast members told me that it would be better to leave my camera in the locker as they had their own photography people who would be taking photos of us throughout the experience and at the end we would get a code to download and keep all our photos.

Yeah...I think you can see where this is going. The photos were meant to be ready two hours or so after the trek ended so I waited till we got back to the hotel later that day to check, and no photos. I wasn't panicking yet and decided to check the next day, and no photos. I contacted Disney about it who said they would look into it. Flash forward to the end of our trip and I got an email apologizing but the photos had been lost due to technical problems. So yeah no photos for Wild Africa Trek for you!

Well.... that bites.

Can’t repeat what I said it the time but it sounded a lot like a monologue about ducks...just not the Donald kind.

Huh. Daffy it is, then.

We met with our trek guides who told us a bit about what we would be doing and about the photographs who would be with us capturing our experience…

Luckily I was under the limit, so next it was time to get strapped into a harness...okay that just took a Fifty Shades of Grey turn didn’t it?!

Now that's the Lu we've all come to know and lust... er... love.

I have to say you do get very up close and personal with at least two trek guides while getting strapped into your safety gear!

Wish your mom had gotten a shot of your smile.

Our guide told us some fun facts about the birds, but I won’t spoil it for you by telling you them…

Uh, huh. No idea, huh?

We were hooked up to the safety equipment so we didn’t, you know, fall in and get eaten hungry hungry hippo style and we stood on a ledge that over looks the hippo area.

Sounds... pretty darn cool.

Next stop crocodiles! Once again it was time to strap on…the safety gear!

Yay... oh... boring.

After our arduous river crossing we got to have our closer view of those crocs!

Great Canadian invention.


I apologize on behalf of my country.

Our guides were very knowledgable and it was just so nice to get the chance to stop and see the animals without people’s cameras or phones or big head in the way!

If you say so. I have no proof of this.

Our breakfast came in these metal lunch-boxes and there were dried meats, fruits, oatmeal, yogurt and a beautiful edible flower. (Not my photos...again...)

Looks pretty interesting, nevertheless.

Also there was POG juice which was delicious.

Of course it is.

Wild Africa Trek really was a wonderful experience (apart from the photo disaster). I would highly recommend it, just take your own camera!

We had just finished our Wild Africa Trek and you know what they say, when in Animal Kingdom...stay in Animal Kingdom!

Did someone spend just wayyyyy too much time in the sun?

OMG.
Have you heard the Bunga Bunga joke?
And no... I can't tell it on the DIS.

It was a really nice relaxing train ride, until a really annoying kid kept standing up and messing around so the CM on the train had to keep asking him to stop, which of course he wouldn’t.

Lovely.

He also toy dinosaur he kept hitting unsuspecting fellow train passengers with and when they asked him to stop he just stuck his tongue out and hit them again! Lovely.

Juuuust about the time to grab that and toss it off the train. Hopefully the child will jump after it.

Finally we made it to our destination, and wow was it crowded!

As we were at Sanaa it was only right we had the bread service!

I really want to try that.

For my entree I got the choose two curry thing (it has a name I just don’t know what it is) and I picked the Butter Chicken and the Spicy Durban Shrimp with Basmati Rice.

Only recently heard of that. It looks (and sounds) good.

We sat on the balcony for a while but most of the animal were hiding somewhere else so it was all quite on the savannah.

Really! I've seen it and am not big on shows in general... but that is one of the better ones.

I didn’t take any photos and before you all sass me and say “what's new” I didn’t take any on purpose as I wanted to just enjoy the show.

Nope! Instead I will quite honestly say... "Good for you."

I loved it sooooooo much! It hit me straight in the feels! Only downside it seemed to be raining in the theatre cause my eyes were all wet!

It seemed like we need to dry our faces and what better way to do that then a quick expedition up a mountain with a Yeti?

We waited for the front row, which turns out was a good idea as she coped so much better this time around.

We decided to see what life is like as a bug.

I saw that for the first time not long ago... and liked it.

We ended up talking to a family who were inline in-front of us who said they had already been there 20 minutes!

Uh, oh...

We ended up waiting another thirty minutes before a for AKL turned up.

I don't get this. AKL is close! There should be a bus every 10 minutes or so...

Unfortunately for me and our bus driver the old man behind us in the line was not a happy camper. He had been loudly complaining the whole time about how he wasn’t even going to be able to get on this bus anyway we were waiting and DM made a huge mistake of trying to calm him down by pointing out that another bus would be along and everyone would get home.

Oh, no...

At the same time a second AKL arrived, you would think that this would appease Mr. Cranky-Pants but this seemed to make he madder! He started yelling that he wished he didn’t know there was a second bus (which makes zero sense as he got on the first bus anyway…) and as we boarded the bus we could hear as the old guy reached the bus driver who was standing outside our bus and he started laying into him.

There's got to be an idiot, doesn't there?

His language was really not very DIS approved but let’s just say it was rather colourful! The bus driver (bless his heart) was trying to calm the situation down but Mr. Potty-Mouth wasn’t done, oh no, he told our driver to go back to where he came from!

"I'm from AKL. That's where I'm going. You on or off?"

This bus driver was amazing and simply said “You want me to go back to the bus depo?”

I was standing wedged into the back door with a stroller pressing into places a stroller should not go

Where, exactly?

DM had gotten a seat after a very nice man stood for her,

but then Mr. Terrible-Human-Being ended up pushing his way to stand next to me!

Oh no!!!!

He kept trying to talk to me about the bus drama but I make that really clear that was a nope.

Hey Animal Kingdom Lodge, I'm Really Stuck On You

Crazy glue pranks are the worst.

After a lie in we decided to grab some breakfast at the Mara (gotta use those QS credits!)

You know they have zebra domes there, right?



RIGHT??????

DM and I both got the very healthy Mickey waffles and bacon!

Very healthy. Dairy. Fruit. Grains. Protein. Healthy!

It came with strawberries and whipped cream. And you know how I feel about whipped cream!

How do you feel about whipped cream?

After breakfast we made our way back to the room and hung out on the balcony until it was time to get ready to head out.

I know it’s outdated but I still love the Muppets. I hope that they don’t get rid of it, but maybe a new movie would be good!

It always becomes a game to see if I can ever get any good photos going through Star Tours! I’m still failing!

One place that's just not on my radar. I'd seen too many poor revues... but that was years and years ago.

For my appetizer I chose the tomato and mozzarella.

Yes I did! She had the Caesar salad.

I'm guessing... it was just okay or sub-standard. Their Caesar's seem to leave much to be desired.

For our entrées we both got the steak with mac and cheese.

They certainly look good, despite your aversion to the jus.

DM was still feeling in the need of a rest so we headed back to AKL.

Aw, poor DM.

apparently Disney don’t take our prepaid cards.

I'm sorry... what???

They had just applied glue to where they were moving carpets around but hadn’t put any signs up so I was stuck to AKL! One of the workmen just looked at me and said
"Watch out for the glue there, it's real sticky" Thanks dude.

The other guy must have realised I was already glued to the floor and de-stuck me before taking my shoe away to get the glue off, which left me looking like a really awkward, confused flamingo in the hallway!

I relayed my adventure to DM and the Club Level cast members and as the loving mother she is DM thought it was hilarious!

I didn’t really have much of a plan for my solo time so I waited for the first bus that came along, which happened to be Epcot.

Interesting how your entire time could've been completely different.

While I was on the bus I called my dad back in the UK to check up on how he was doing and more importantly how my fur babies were doing as he was on babysitter duty!

What you don't want to hear: "Was I supposed to take care of them?"

Our journey was stopped a few times before we got the future but sadly Spaceship Earth was clearly feeling extra sassy as they decided I didn’t have a future.

They must've known how your TR was going to go...

I didn’t really feel like doing anything else at Epcot so I made my way over the international gateway to get to Hollywood Studios.

When I arrived in HS I made a beeline for one of my favs! Tower of Terror! On the boat over I had managed to score a FP for it.

Nice!

Now this is really where my love of FP+ comes into play. I managed to do ToT five times in a row using FP+! I would scan my band and book the next one before the pre-show even started!

How is this possible???? Did no one want to ride it????

it was time to meet up with DM for our ADR at 50’s Prime Time Cafe.

Yuss!

Finally about thirty minutes later I saw her appear, apparently she had been waiting in the wrong place.

We got a TV table which is always the best!

I've never been lucky enough to score one.

I got a lemonade with fluffy pink stuff!

Huh. Didn't know about that. Good?

Speaking of always ordering the same thing I got the fried chicken...which I always get!

Our server wasn’t into the whole Prime Time spiel at all so it was a little disappointing.

Well, that sucks. It's pretty hit or miss.

As we were making our way over we saw R2D2 zipping around. I may not be a Star Wars fan but I love me so R2D2!

Clearly I forgot to take any photos of Voyage of the Little Mermaid but I know that’s what we did.

We had a very important destination to get to: the international gateway!

We got checked in and made our way to our room...and straight back to the front desk! Turns out the room they gave us was a king bed room which didn’t work for us. The CM was great and got us all sorted out and then it was take two for the room!

I've been there. With Kay (DD). Nope! Except in our case they didn't have any other rooms until the next day... so I slept on a cot.

I know people are mad that Disney is “de-themeing” their hotel rooms but I really like the more understated look they are implementing.

This is a thing? Both the de-theming (meh) and that people are mad about it?

Our room was a wood/garden view and it was so nice and peaceful on our balcony.

That looks really relaxing.

But she loved the Beach Club so much we are staying there for three weeks this year!

In fact I prefer a lot of old skool versions of Epcot attractions (*cough Figment *cough)

and DM reallllllly misses Horizons and was very bitter about Mission Space!

Anyway DM loved TT and demanded I change all our Epcot days to include it!

Anyway our time travel journey was fun and I finally got a blurry free photo of Miss Go-Go-Boots herself!

Spaceship Earth was clearly still mad that I trash talked it’s new ending and refused to give us a future.
