My sister went to school to be a medical transcriptionist and worked in that field for many years before the hospital she worked for did away with that job. She had a hard time finding a job because there isn’t much need for transcriptionists anymore. She now works in medical billing and coding and hates it.

Maybe just me but seems odd that something as high tech as a podcast WOULD use software to do the transcriptions

My friend has been doing this at home for years and years, she has her own business.... before working from home became so popular...

She has several doctors office that she still works for... mostly small private practice... and she had one doctor that left her, for the newer way... until the program made several mistakes, in the transcription of several patients notes... one in diagnosis, with medications which the patient caught thankfully.. some holes in the transcriptions, where the program did not pick up what he was saying, so they were just blanks... in the record... he called her and begged to come back... the program can't call and say or ask if this is correct.... Plus she is familiar with how the doctors talk, his cadence, and manner of speaking... plus she can tell the difference in the doctor speaking, and/or if someone comes into the or office and ask question about what he wants for lunch... she can filter all that out... the Transcription program just puts all that in there... Like Mr. So in So has a accute case of... yes i will have a Ham sandwich with no mustard, a diet coke... Thanks... lets see... Oh yeah... Mr. So and So has a accute case of... whatever... and then all that becomes part of the medical records...

She also starting working for several dentist, and other medical professionals physical therapy, speech therapist, family therapist, as well as she has several pastors, and churches... as well as a few companies on large meetings, or board of directors meetings...

So she has expanded into different areas... At one time she only did doctors offices... now she has alot of different source off income...

You just need to find a niche and go from there...
