Hi everyone-
I know some of you on this board are from London or near London. I just wanted to check in to see if you are all okay. I'm so sorry for what happened. :guilty:
(I know this is probably more appropriate on the UK Board, but given that I've never posted there before, I hope it's okay for just this once to have this post on the DLP Board)

Glad you posted this - I wasn't sure whether I should do so on this board but now you have I think it is the right place as I don't post on any other boards!

I echo the sentiments and hope everyone is ok.

Horrible watching the events unfold yesterday. One minute we are revelling in the glory of Live 8 and celebrating the Olympic Vote and then this :(

Just to let everyone in/near London know that our thoughts and prayers are for you.:grouphug:

I have been following the threads on the UK Community Board and it does not appear that there is any tragic news regarding any Diser's family or friends. However that is not to say that there will not be any.:sad2:

On a personal note I have been very lucky. My sister was staying off Russell Square and had booked a train home to Manchester. For some reason she decided to catch an earlier one. Thank God she did. My brother-in-law had just safely arrived at his office, and my niece was on a bus at the time the double-decker was blown up. They were all evacuated from her bus and escorted to the nearest pub and told to stay there for the rest of the day, not that she needed much encouragement.

If anyone wants to read the threads on the UK Community Board there are many messages of support, especially from our friends in America. :grouphug:

I hope everyone and everyone's loved ones from this board are safe and well.

I work near Liverpool St and normally get off the tube there at about 9am, at the last minute yesterday I chose to get the bus, its one of those strange feelings, I cant stop thinking about what might have happened if I hadnt done that.

My heart goes out to everyone involved, we londoners won't be defeated and should use the solidarity we displayed only Wednesday when we found out about the Olympics to prove we wont be cowed by terrorists.

Love and hugs to everyone, wherever you are in the world! :grouphug:

I really do hope that all of the DISers and their families and friends are safe and sound. What happened yesterday was horrific and scary, but I am proud of our country and think that the British people have come out the other side a stronger and more empowered nation. :) People are trying to get back into the normal swing of things today and doing a really good job of it.

I'm pleased I wasn't in London yesterday, but it won't stop me from travelling there again and again, and continuing to use the public transport system. If people get scared it's totally understandable, but what the terrorists want is to scare us. So it's best to just get on with things. That's what I think, anyway. :)

Thankfully all of my family and friends in London were accounted for and those of them who were nearby were moved to safety. I can't imagine how the families of the people who died must be feeling today. :(

More :grouphug: for everyone!

Yes, and aren't they terrific?

I live in Essex and know many people who travel in to Liverpool St to work every morning - I thank God that they are all ok. At the school yesterday there were mums panicking because they couldn't get hold of their husbands on the phone - it was horrible. What I cannot and I Don't think I ever will get my head round is how can people do this to ordinary people - strangers that they don't even know? These people had said Goodbye to their wives/husbands and children and just gone to work. I hope I never feel the kind of hatred in my heart that they must have in theirs'.

Love to you and yours,
Joanne

All my family and friends who travel to London are safe and unharmed. I spent most of yesterday afternoon and evening calling around. It just really helps to talk about these horrific events.

How do you ever get over being caught up in something like that?
We will keep travelling, we will keep doing business and we won't be bullied.

Strength and love to all those workers in London now who have the horrendous task of clearing bomb sites.

Rosie

I was originally supposed to be in London for a meeting yesterday but the date got changed.

My heart goes out to those poor families who has lost loved ones as a result of this devastating and indiscriminate attack.

I have been overwhelmed by all the mesages of support we have received in the UK from our friends in America and all over the world here on the Dis :grouphug:

Like a lot of people I was at work myself when I heard about events in London. We were all told that if we knew anyone who was in London at that time we should try and get in touch. Of course, we didn't know at that time that the authorities had disabled the mobile phone system as some of these terrible people use mobiles to trigger off yet more mayhem.

People were frantic when friends and family couldn't be reached.

When I got home and turned on the news I could hardly believe my eyes.

My thoughts are with those who lost friends and family, especially with those who are still searching for loved ones in the wreckage that these heartless people have left in their wake.

There can never be any justification for this kind of action.
