The 130 acre Swan and Dolphin resorts are NOT Disney owned hotels. Starwood runs both these hotels and leases the land from Disney. You can make reservations through Disney (407) 934-7639 or (407) 824-8000, the Starwood number (888) 828-8850 or the resorts themselves (see above). Because Disney does not own them, they can give discounts that Disney does not. The resorts also have a Starwood preferred guest program Starwood Preferred, which you can earn points leading to free upgrades or free stays. Becoming a member also gives you some advantages. On their site you can choose if you want feather pillows or foam. Also smoking preferences and room preferences can be entered. Also using the Swan/Dolphin local Reservations numbers above gives you a "local" confirmation number, which is straight out of our property management system. (or, they can fax directly to you.)This makes it easier to get your reservation info when calling the resort itself to make special requests.

If you would like to make a request after your reservation is made, click here. Click reservations on the right, and then click special room requests. Please note that your request is not confirmed until you receive an e-mail confirmation. If you need to cancel your special room request or if you need more immediate assistance, please call the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin at (407) 934-4645. I would make this request with in a few days of arrival only.

White Glove privileges from American Express sadly not available at the Swan or Dolphin resorts.

Resort Info

The Swan has a 12 story main building and two 7 story wings that hold 758 guest rooms. When you approach the hotel, look up on the roof. The two swans that you'll see are 46 feet high and 56,000 pounds each. The Dolphin hotel consists of a 27 story main building and tower and 4 nine story wings that house the 1,509 guest rooms. Coral and turquoise adorn the exterior of the hotel, as do giant banana leaves. Two 56-foot Dolphin fountains rest atop the hotel. Dolphin is closer to the YC/BC and the Swan is closer to the Boardwalk. Both have indoor corridors with whimsical beach scenes. Even the light fixtures are made to look like clouds and room doors like cabanas. Most recent major renovation took place in January of 1997. The hotels are connected by an outside walkway(bridge) where you can catch the launch to Epcot or MGM. Both resorts have been booked for families of 5. Rollaway beds are $25 per night. Cribs are free of charge for children under three. They are full sized cribs not port-a-cribs and have bumpers around them. Only 20% of the rooms at each hotel have the desired Epcot fireworks view.Click here to go to a site with a layout map of the Swan/Dolphin. Also, if you want to learn about our SwanDolphin's terrifying adventure into one of the huge dolphins on the roof click here.

HINT!!!!
Call on Fridays to see if anything (discount, room cancellations and such)has become available as that is when they update their systems!

Like Disney-

Staying at the Swan or Dolphin includes surprise mornings, E-ticket nights, WDW transportation to all Disney attractions, length of stay passes, free parking, guaranteed park admission, package delivery to the hotel from the parks (not to the room, but to guest services), same day dining reservations, preferred tee times, and access to guest services. Dine with Disney characters for breakfast or dinner in selected Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin restaurants, on selected days. They will also hold luggage before check in and after check out if needed.

Unlike Disney-

Unlike other Disney resorts, charging privileges don't extend beyond the Swan and Dolphin. All purchases and dining expenses at both the Swan and the Dolphin can be charged to your pre-arranged account. There are no Disney toiletries in the guestroom and no Mickey wake-up calls. They do have great oatmeal bath bars! NO refillable mugs. Hey, Swandolphin this is definitely a HINT! No relocation help if splitting stay between Swan/Dolphin and a Disney owned resort. Also, you can not use Disney Dollars to pay for hotel stay.

Reservations through DreamsRES

DreamsRes is a service offered through Dreams Unlimited Travel by which they have negotiated rates and blocks of rooms directly with non-Disney owned and operated hotels (including the Swan/Dolphin, Downtown Disney Resort Hotels and many off-property hotels).

The Swan/Dolphin can either be booked through their DreamsRes system or their "regular" Dreams system. The difference is that if they use WDTC or CRO to book the hotel, as is the case with their "regular" Dreams system, they cannot secure the discounted rates. So if you want the discounted rates you must book through their DreamsRes system.
If someone wants a Disney package (i.e. park passes, etc.) at either the Swan or Dolphin this would have to be booked through Dreams Unlimited Travel's "regular" system and subsequently
through WDTC - so no discounts would apply.

In some instances clients may find that the dates entered in the system DO NOT show available discounts, but when contacting the hotel directly the discounts are available. This generally occurs if the hotel has not updated their inventory and or discount availability in the DreamsRes system. If this is the case, and the guest wants to still use DreamsRes system then DreamRes will contact the hotel and try to secure those rates and dates as well.

DreamsRes now offers priority-seating services.
Thanks WebmasterJohn for the explanation.

Straight A's Club-
Kids can particiapte in the straight A's club, "By showing a report card with all "A's" at check-in, students receive a "Straight A" cap and voucher.
When the child wears the cap in the hotels' restaurants, he or she can redeem the voucher for a free ice cream and the parents receive a one-time 20% discount on the honor student's meal."

Kid's Passport.
Upon check-in, your child will receive a Kid's Passport.
This entitles them to a free ice cream cone or cup of ice cream at the Dolphin Fountain or Splash Terrace after they have collected five stamps from various parts of the hotels, including restaurants, shops and other
facilities.

Room description

The guest rooms feature either two queens(Swan)or two doubles(Dolphin) or a king bed. Some have balconies with views of the other resort, the grpound, or Epcot. The rooms are decorated in the turquoise and coral colors. The furnishings are made of a light wood giving the room an airy feel. There was a wicker basket in the shape of a clam shell on our bathroom counter. In it was several plush towels and a variety of toiletries. The tub/shower combination also had a towel rack mounted in the back that contained towels and wash clothes. The Swan has two sinkd one located inside the bathroom and one outside the bathroom. The Dolphin has only one sink. Extra pillows are on top self of the closet.

View info/ Balcony info
Lake View rooms are mostly between the "fingers" of the building, with view of Crescent lake area, but a limited view due to the building. The Resort view rooms are more of a "wide open" view, with the possibility of view of the white sandy beach area, pools, or even Epcot. Standard rooms we describe as "non designated view", and most are on the wooded side or parking lot areas. The Swan "standard views" tend to have a bit better view (MGM ,TOT)than the Dolphin due to location. Front of either hotel is "Standard" views. Hope this helps people a little more!

Balcony rooms tend to be on the fingers or wings of each resort and in rooms facing the other resort. Balconies have two chairs and a small table. Balcony rooms 3rd floor and below tend to have balcony rooms right next to each other. Rooms over the 3rd floor alternate room with a balcony and room w/o.

Grotto Pool info

The Grotto pool is open 24 hours a day. Towel service and lifeguards are only available from 9am - 9pm year round. Guest swimming before or after those hours do so at their own risk. Pool is heated, though it is cooler than the Disney owned resorts because of size and the waterfall.

There is a sandy area near the Grotto pool that has a large seal in the middle. When you press the button under it, the seal sprays a light spray. Great for toddlers and children who get nervous in pools. At the Grotto pool small children are required to use life jackets if they are using the slide. Jackets are free of charge with a room key. You can also rent large alligators, tubes and assorted other stuff. I also think they rented sand toys, but not quite sure they might have been for sale. The pool is huge, 3 acres total. In the middle they have the waterfall with the slide on the right and a hot tub (there are more hot tubs in the pool area) on the left. It is difficult to find the entrance, but it is there. They also have volleyball net at one end of it. The deepest it gets is about 5 and half feet. Near the waterfall the water is about 3ft. or so. Near each hotel there is a quiet lap pool. A picture of the Grotto Pool, another Groto picture, yet another Groto picture.

BENEFITS:

50% Discount off of published RACK Rate

A "One Category" bonus upgrade (example, the price in the system for a Resort View room is actually 50% off of a Lake View room, the category below the one that you are reserving)

PLUS, late check out extension until 2PM on the date of departure! I decided to add both perks to the program as double bonus.

Below are sample available date ranges as of this very minute, which will be subject to change in the future. (at either Swan, Dolphin, or both) The dates are inclusive of the end date. Up to three rooms may be reserved at the AP rate per caller. These date ranges also currently apply to the Entertainment Club rates, as well as most other discounts if you are not a Passholder.

Here are some things to do to increase your chances of getting an upgrade!

1) go to www.swandolphin.com
press go to reservations
then press special room requests
fill in the request about two weeks before you go
if you don't hear from them then do it again a few days before you go. Don't worry to much if you don't hear from them.

2)Call the 1-800-227-1500 number and make sure it is noted on your reservation.

3)If you haven't already done so go to
http://www.preferredguest.com/login.jhtml
Then get your temp card.
This will let you get points on each of your visits, get express check in and out, and free upgrades when you have enough points. Many people have gotten upgrades even w/o enough points. There is also a preference section and you can put King sized beds, feather or foam pillows and turn down service here!

Hope this helps!
