The hot mess that is MDE (10/09)

    Does it? My sister and parents had a package arriving a day before my other sister and I and I couldn't include the two of us when trying to book the earlier group's FP+ on their 60 days out. I had to wait a day until my 60 day mark to make any for my package.

    OMG I was just logging on to post the SAME THING! It took me over an hour to do 2 days for 2 people! Absolutely unacceptable! I kept switching between the app and the site but it still crashed multiple times between each selection. I finally gave up trying to get afternoon times (if I dared change from morning, it crashed again) and just picked the rides I wanted for the morning. (Was just able to shuffle them around to better times). I am an hour behind so I was up early just to do this - was not how I wanted to spend my morning!

    Yes. Have the information available in some other form, a screenshot, written on a piece of paper or notes on your phone.

    That's because it was a package. Room only would have allowed you to book fastpasses at the same time as them.

    You had packages.

    The poster I was quoting noted her son had separately linked ticket media - open 30 day window transforms to 60.

    Package tickets have no window until exactly 60 days prior to check-in.

    He isn't being shown on the reservation. That's the problem that no one can seem to fix for her.

    But if a reservation is linked to that MDX account, anyone with valid ticket media has the 60-day booking window - they don’t have to be listed on the onsite reservation.

    Example: My MDX account is linked to a Mod with a 60-day window. I can book FPs for the next 60 days because I and 2 others on my account have valid tickets and are linked to the Mod even though we never travel with him.

    we were just there and the app was beyond useless. I needed a bathroom. Normally I'd open the app and see where it was.

    Nope. Then I realized how hard it was to find a cast member to ask.

    We wanted to see what dinner reservations were open, couldn't get the app up. Left the park and went to Olive Garden just outside property. Good move Disney, you lost a $200 dinner party.....

    We had a very similar experience this morning. My wife was on the app and I was using the computer (chrome) and she was the one who got everything to work with the app. Was able to get FOP for 8 on 60 +5 and SDD for 8 on 60 +4 (albeit a late time and split amongst 2 groups of 4). Was actually suprised how close to everything we wanted at the exact time too with so many reports of trouble others are having.
    Now just hope there are no crashes again where we lose everything.

    The whole MDE mess up is unacceptable. I can't believe it has gone on this long.

    Our trip is next week. Fortunately I booked our FP before this mess that is MDE started acting up. I have typed up a sheet with all of the FP and times listed as I'm not sure how reliable MDE will be. I wonder if the kiosks in the park are also as messed up as the app.

    I have another trip scheduled for January and get to make my FP for that trip on Thanksgiving day. Hoping that everything will be fixed by then.

    I was really hoping to get some additional FPs while we're there, but I'm starting to adjust my expectations. I don't know that the app will work well enough to get them.

    If there are problems with the app, use the website via your phone’s browser or head to a FP kiosk.

    I booked mine yesterday (10/8) and had pretty much no problem. Olaf came up twice and that was it. Done in twenty minutes. This is our fourth trip and I've never had any issues.

    I saw Olaf quote a few times this morning.. took about an hour for 5 days.. didnt go for the headliners because I have a 2 yo.. and we are doing EMM @ HS so SDD FP wasnt needed.. but I did hey everything I wanted either the exact time or within 5 minutes of what I had pre-planned.. but yea.. I couldve done without Olaf 20 times at 7 am .. hope everyone got what the wanted!!

    Other than the headliners, I just book the rest of the FP for my trip later in the day and don’t try to do it right when the site opens. MDE is always glitches more in the morning because it gets overwhelmed.

    Take a picture of your fastpasses each day and keep it as your wallpaper on your phone.

    I actually screamed out loud twice. Took me 45 mins for 5 days worth. Saw Olaf many times and also had a screen pop up that said all fast passes for all parks already booked. Crashed so many times on one day I just skipped ahead. Getting things out of order since it would just time out. How ridiculous. Am not really pleased with a few of my days but I could not even look at it again yesterday to even think about tweaking - I was just done with that site. I was a bit on the fence with the $600 plus I put out day before booking early entry to Hollywood Studios - but after the experience yesterday - I was so happy with myself that I did not have to worry about getting Slinky Dog that it almost made yesterday worthwhile. I go to Disney about 3 times a year and this was the absolute worst I have ever seen. Makes me want to start to try and like Universal.

    Had two us working Wednesday 10/10 and got some stuff. Crashed at 7:12. No Slinky Dog at at 7am. And no Seven Mine Train later in the day.

    Was your son able to figure it out and book FP this morning? My thought was, give him your login and let him book the Fastpasses from your MDE account. Your son only sees you when he logs in, and not anyone else in your party or on your reservation when he logs in as him because he isn't linked through the friends and family to anyone else on your reservation. Or, if it is just you and your son, are you sure your MDE accounts are linked in the Friends and Family section?

    He was. Thanks for asking and suggesting some solutions. I spent some time on hold and talking to IT (some one at Disney) so he got some FP's and I did others. My DH also signed up for MDE (he wants nothing to do with planning) and he was up this morning holding my hand. Funny my husband's account shows different information than mine. I have screened shots from my iPhone and laptop.

    How is that Slinky Dog has no fast passes all day?
