The Cabana Beach at Cozumel

Has anyone here done the Cabana Beach at Cozumel port adventure? It looks to be relatively new one. We have a one-year-old in our party, which greatly reduces the number of appropriate excursions. We’re curious to hear what others’ experiences with this one are.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? 😉

I‘ve checked out their social media and it looks inviting. Just curious if any Dissers have first hand experience.

I did a bunch of research on it but decided not to go because we had small kids and I didn’t like that there was no zero entry to the water (have to go down steps and the water is deep upon entry), and the rocky drop off to the ocean looked a bit unsafe for kids. Mentioning because that was not super obvious from the professional photos and you mentioned having a little one too.

Good point. We will have an almost 2-year-old and an 18-year-old with us. That’s quite a range for excursions. I did read on another review site where their toddler loved playing in the sand and the sand toys were provided. But it doesn’t look like we’d be getting in the water with the toddler. Not sure if that will be a good or a bad thing.

I'll be doing it with a 4 & 5 year old on Feb 16th. I liked the sounds of it since my husband can snorkel right there, they provide sand toys & kites for the kids, and we'll have access to the rest of the fun offered at the park. I'll report back.

Excellent. Thank you!

Were you able to do this port adventure last week? We have to make our final selection in the next couple of days and I’m curious how your experience was.

Thank you for asking!! Since getting home I knew I had to report back but couldn’t figure out where. I searched all my different Facebook groups trying to remember where I promised to report back.

We ended up really enjoying our day! It was a pretty quick drive from the cruise ship. The tour group met a group of about 30-40 of us & then broke us up in groups of 8 for the taxi ride. We shared a taxi with another family of 4. The butlers met us right at the taxi & escorted us to our cabanas. The cabanas were really nice. Lots of shade, if you want chairs in the sun let the butlers know as the cabanas offered different seating options. Ours had couches & loungers all in the shade but a hammock & bed right next to us in the sun. Other cabanas had extra loungers in the sun but no hammocks near them. The cabanas had power outlets, a ceiling fan, a tub of water to wash your feet off. The butlers provided a basket of fresh towels & you get a very small plate of fresh fruit. We asked the butlers about sand toys & they brought a bunch for our two kids, who are about to be 4 years old & 5.5 years old. There is no zero entry beach access. There are a few access points with stairs made of metal grates to access the water. The water is deep right off the bat but not rough at all. Our 3 & 5 year olds did great with their puddle jumpers. They do provide life jackets & snorkel gear but we brought our own. Snorkeling was great there. Tons of fish that are not fearful at all. I had fish swim right into my hands. There are no lifeguards at all so you definitely have to be in the water with the kids. The food was excellent & large portions. We ordered shrimp tacos & the huge chicken nachos. They gave us a chips and guacamole on the house. Everything was really good! The butlers stopped by often & were all really sweet. A photographer came by to take pics. Everything could be paid by credit card including tipping your butler. There are nice bathrooms & showers there as well. The park itself offers a lot but we never left our beach cabana area. The butlers setup our transportation back to the ship & they could also schedule massages right in your cabana as well as all the activities the park offers- dolphin swim, sea lion show, etc. 8CE7F380-BE35-4924-B4C4-5622A701883F.jpeg3E237036-3F16-495F-BD39-5A2A7841043D.jpeg7E302F6F-52E1-47FE-8D84-3EE88B432745.jpegCF0049ED-9E85-4599-9E3A-EF206BFCF16E.jpeg41CB5D1F-1033-4F1C-9ED5-AA3CE0AB57A0.jpeg8F597C08-E012-4638-88A0-D9942A7F4BB2.jpeg158B315F-D24C-4588-85FF-EA22D20723C7.jpegFE6ED835-5F21-4165-A284-A351BE4736D3.jpeg02B2DFF4-9495-42C3-8663-16C403C5ADCC.jpeg223A895F-DA4B-4733-B36F-EF6E04FD7C85.jpeg

It was a really enjoyable day & we’d definitely do it again. On the ride back we had a taxi bus with more families & they all felt the same way.

You may want to bring water shoes due to the metal grate stairs but we managed fine without them.

Sorry the pics are sideways. DIS Boards loads them that way no matter what I do.

Thanks for the review. Can you tell me if there was a safe in the cabana?
No safe but we didn’t ever feel like we needed it. The only people around were the other cabana renters & the butlers. Really no one was near our cabana but us.

We just got off the Fantasy yesterday and we did the Cabana Beach also. It was real nice and I would definitely do it again. After they take you to your cabana, each person gets one complimentary/included drink (including alcoholic drinks for adults). Then, you can purchase additional drinks and food. I recommend the chicken nachos as well. The pizza and Cheeseburger sliders were good also. The cabanas are well appointed with comfortable loungers inside and out. There are electrical outlets, so you'll need a "wall charger" to charge your devices (WiFi is included). We were given the choice of a few different cabanas and decided to take the last one on the end. Like the pp, we never made it to the others area of the park. We were perfectly fine sticking with this view. Wanted to post a couple more pics, but they keep loading upside down.20200217_152955.jpg

Excellent. Thank you. First hand reviews are so helpful!

No one said anything about sunscreen. We used normal stuff.
A couple more questions:

1. we won’t have a car seat with us, do you think that will be an issue on the taxi ride with our 21-month-old?

2. Should we bring the umbrella stroller for her?

Nearly all the cruisers don’t have car seats so you’ll be in the majority with that & no one bats an eye about it. I just seatbelt myself then hold my kids.

I wouldn’t bother with a stroller. The only area you’d even be able to use it is on the walk to & from the ship to taxi otherwise it’s all sand & minimal walking. It’s a little bit of a walk from the ship but not terrible. My three year old did it without issue so you could easily carry her for that portion. There was a group that had a stroller & part of the walk to the taxi involved stairs so they had to carry the stroller down the stairs. I don’t think it’d be worth the hassle.
