Relaxin around the resort cont.

I went back down to the lounge with my phone to get pictures of the daytime offerings. Sorry about the blurry ones.

Relaxin around the resort cont.

Mark woke up about 10:30 and I put on my daily face paint. We were out the door a little after 11:30 to walk the resort and check out the shops.

Our first stop was at the Christmas tree where a PP was taking photo’s.

We were hoping to find a Grand Floridian specific Christmas Ornament. The only thing I found was a decorated Gingerbread cookie, so I passed. We were also looking for resort specific Tommy Bahama clothing for Mark he’s a big fan of T.B. again no luck. We did score at Basin White. Mark loves good smelling things. Yeah that’s why he married me. LOL. He found a body butter that he loved and I bought it for him for a Christmas present.

I thought this little Christmas Tree on top of the kids TV in the lobby was cute.

After fighting to get around the large crowds checking out the Gingerbread House (not pictured yet) we went back to the room to change clothes to lounge by the pool.

Here are a few pictures we took around the resort.

Relaxin around the resort conclusion

We had lunch at Beaches Pool Bar and shared the Lobster Sliders w/ home made chips and Crab cake sandwich w/FF and a couple of Heinekens. These sandwiches were awesome and I recommend putting them on your must try list. These sliders were 100% better than CHH yesterday. I’m not usually a fan of homemade chips but these were excellent not too thick but yet still crispy enough and lot’s of yummo salt on them. I actually indulged in them a few times they were offered in our CL.

Soon it was time to head back up to the room to get ready for our evening plans.
This small pool in front of Sugar Loaf looked like a nice place to cool down on hot Florida day.

On the way in we stopped for some sweets and a visit to see Cappie. Oh and we can’t forget the POG juice we both fell in love with it. Too bad they don’t put it out until after breakfast.

What were the big plans for tonight and do we stick with them or not. You’ll find out soon.

I promise to eventually get back to your TR I haven't finished and I see you have a new one from this month I'll also have to check out.

 yeah I finally finished my Dec ones and am onto our May trip! But you'll be caught up in no time I'm not very far into these new ones.

These deviled eggs were also very good.

Ooo those look good!

Monday Dec 4'th part 8
A Grand Floridian Afternoon

Let me start out by saying that I wrote this up over a month ago and have debated long and hard about posting it as I wrote it or softening it up a bit. I don't like to be negative and this does come off that way. I have decided to keep it as is. I LOVE Disney and hope that I don't disappoint anyone with a not so positive post. Just being honest.

We arrived at GF and Mark went out to pull the car around so that we could unload our luggage with bell services. As usual Bell services was great as they have been at any Disney resort we’ve stayed. They offered to give us a ride to our building and we accepted. We had to go inside and out another door to meet our driver with our bags and got some pics of the grounds while we waited.

Bell services quickly showed up in a large golf cart with all of our luggage. It was interesting to hear all of the trivia and facts that he told us on our short trip to Sugar Loaf. I was surprised when he said the pools were open 24 hr's.

The driver dropped us off at the main door of SL and Mark and I went up to the room to wait for him to bring our luggage up a back way. Upon entering the room we discovered that it wasn’t a king but a double queen. Oh man. So off to the concierge in the club lounge I go to try to get us moved to a king room. The desk concierge wasn't happy but he called reservations to see what he could do. He didn’t seem very accommodating as I would expect a concierge to be. While waiting for him to talk to reservations I asked another concierge for a glass of champagne. Which she happily obliged. The gentleman gets off the phone and says that they don’t have any kings available and there wouldn’t be any during the rest of our stay. OK so granted a king room is by request only and isn’t a bookable category at this resort. I knew that going in, but I was extremely disappointed. Not a big deal when you’ve been married for 26 yr’s, but we spend enough nights apart with me working 3 nt’s a week and this was vacation. At least it’s not as bad as not getting a king on your honeymoon like Nate & Meghan Emily @MeghanEmily at the Poly. I’d say rant over but it’s not even close. Of all my Disney stays on property this was starting out as less then magical.

I get back up to the room to find that bell services is there with all of our luggage waiting to see what room we’re moving to. I tell them we’re staying in this room and he starts unloading the luggage into our room. Mark tips him and he is soon on his way. We check out the room and balcony and everything is as we’ve seen in photo’s. It’s at this point that we realize we can hear everything going on down in the lobby. I was not happy and wanted to be moved to another room down one of the hallways with doors that close, not a room above the open air lobby. Mark didn’t want to bother with moving and didn’t want me to go down to concierge again. His answer was to put a towel on the floor under the crack of the door. I was shocked at how much noise that cut out and I was slightly placated.

Continued in next post.

What a bummer about the noisy room and no King bed! We had the exact opposite at GF, one of my favorite stays of all the resorts. We were in Conch Key and had a corner room on upper level. Quietest room I have ever stayed in and we I loved it there!

All your club level offerings look good, glad you were making the most of it and trying many things. The rolls and crab cake look really good, yum!

That's okay. It can't always be sunshine and roses. :)

Man, the kids must love that.

Smart move!

I laugh as I see this picture who really cares what the toilet looks like right???

Plumbers.

But size does matter to some folks.

I knew it!!!!!!!!

I asked for a marina view room and we did get it.

Well, so that was good at least. Despite the noise, you did get one thing you asked for.

Again no alarm clock.

I never used it anyway. Just didn't trust them to work.

Cute. :)

In concierge they only allow 1 person 2 drinks at a time. Fair enough.

Seems reasonable.

:rolleyes1

After all of our cocktails this was hilarious to us.:rotfl2:

 I bet!

she acted the way she did because management is watching them to make sure they aren’t giving away too much alcohol.

I actually believe this. It just sounds.... so managerial.

I woke around 8am and washed my teeth and brushed my face and styled my hair. LOL did you catch that.

;)

Since I have been home I have taken the AOL app off my phone and have had no issues with space since.

You had an AOL app? Why?

Now that's just not right putting veggies in with chocolate chip cookies.

Sacrilege!!

I'll just take that basket of pretzels.. thanks.

What were the syrups for?

Awww....

Mark loves good smelling things. Yeah that’s why he married me. LOL.

Gorgeous tree.

Lobster Sliders

Hello???

These sandwiches were awesome and I recommend putting them on your must try list.

Thanks for the tip! I have a running list and I just added this.

Our view of the castle as we approach Sugar Loaf. See it way back there in the distance?

I think so?

Sorry to hear about all your room trouble. For $700 a night you should have had a gold plated, king size bed in a sensory deprivation chamber someone fanning you with a palm all night and then ensuring no ghosts got your bra :P. At least you all made the best of it with beverages :drinking1

We've only done club level once and while I thoroughly enjoyed all the adult beverages and "free" food, in the end we felt compelled to get the most of it which meant we missed out on a lot of other things.

But size does matter to some folks.
I knew it!!!!!!!! :lmao:

You had an AOL app? Why?
because I'm not a techy and I thought I needed it to check my AOL email on my phone, but have since discovered that I don't.

What were the syrups for?
To add flavorings to cappacino's, Latte's or Espresso's.

I just did my first Club Level stay at Wilderness Lodge and loved it. I'm so sorry that the GF was a flop! They gave us as much alcohol as we wanted, even when it wasn't one of the listed times.

Your title of your trip report story made me giggle. Glad you found it!

Finally caught up!

They are pretty rooms I’ll say that but the pictures don’t show the wear. We paid full rack rates of over $700 a nt and I expected better. Sorry for all of you GF lovers out there. I don’t know if I’d ever stay there again. There is something to be said for the ease to and from the MK. But I would only stay again if I got a deep discount. However, it is a dream we have marked off our bucket list.
Yeah, you'd imagine with that price they would go above and beyond to make it worthwhile!

In a short amount of time I had our Christmas stockings up.

Cute!

Hi friends I'm finally back it's good thing I wrote detailed notes on our drive home or else I wouldn’t remember most of these details to share hard to believe it's been over 6 months since our vacation.

Partying with Mickey

After our lunch we returned to the room and changed clothes for our next adventure. This would be a new to us Disney event. We had tickets for the MVMCP.
42ae61533b2a8c23b36e14e85a4aeb82.gif

We took the monorail to the MK and got through the ticket line pretty quickly, it was about 4:45pm. The cast members were waving us to go to the pass through behind Main st where they had several photo ops and we received our first cookie.
It was a hard pre packaged sugar cookie that we held onto for about 20 minutes before Mark through them away, not to our liking.:snooty:

Mr Serious.

We skipped most of the photo ops back here as the lines were too long to wait in and figured we hit them up on our way out.

Once we came out from the pass through and into the hub we stumbled upon the Move it Shake it parade. I always love this bright upbeat parade. It always makes me want to dance.

Some pretty pictures of this beauty.

After the parade passed by we headed back to Fantasy land where I had a couple of FP to use for 7DMT. got stuck here for a minute with this pretty view.

After I enjoyed my alpine ride we attempted to get on Peter Pan but it was temporarily down, it ended up being down the entire night. Hopped on over to Pooh’s place and waited about 20 minutes to ride through a blustery forest.

I had to ride the carousel after this since it was just stopping and getting ready to load more folks so on we jumped. This ended up being a mistake as they waited and waited and waited for most of the horses to fill up before starting the ride.
He's so excited about my choice of rides.

IMG_20171205_182300657 - Copy.jpg

When we got off the carousel the sun had set so we headed to Adventureland to ride our most anticipated ride of the evening. Jingle Cruise had a 30 minute wait, uhm no we’ll come back later when the line is shorter.

Instead we went on POC with only a 10 min wait.
IMG_20171205_185925025 - Copy.jpg
We found it distracting when others left there necklaces on during dark rides but we turned ours off.

Partying with Mickey pt 3

By the time we got out of POC the party had started so we jumped over to Tortuga Tavern for some snowman pretzels but passed on the snow cones.
IMG_20171205_191644259 - Copy.jpg

After our salty treat we decided to go back to Jingle Cruise this time the wait was up to 35 minutes, so on to Frontier land we go instead.

I was able to ride Splash and it was pretty much a walk on even though it said 10 minutes. My log stopped and I got stuck under the water fall. Fortunately, without anyone else in the car with me I was able to scoot over and miss most of it. I was able to exit w/o being too wet, which was a good thing because I really didn’t want to hear Mark say I told you so.
IMG_20171205_192706013 - Copy.jpg

I checked MDE and the wait at Jingle Cruise was now up to 60 minutes. Guess we’re not doing that tonight, big dissappointment. I believe it was at this point that we found out the party had sold out for tonight, which explained why it was so busy and long waits.

We enjoyed the light projections they had all over.

Partying with Mickey/everybody loves a parade

We continued through Frontier land hoping to find the Country Bears out and about. It was at this point that Mark wanted to wait there to watch the first parade. I explained I had planned for us catching the second parade later on MS with the snoap. He was pretty adamant about it. So against my better judgement we stood there and waited (wasted) 30 min for the parade to start. This ended up throwing the whole nights plan down the tubes. I ended up getting a maple popcorn to snack on. @MeghanEmily has had me craving this since reading it in her TR. It tasted burnt and Mark didn’t want any so I ate about ¼ of it and threw the rest away. We were very entertained by the Country Bears while we waited.

Then the parade started.

I noticed this happened to us once, too. It seems to happen pretty easily if they let the popcorn sit in the warmer for too long. Maple sugar burns fairly easily. Too bad you didn't get a good batch! I wondered if this might have been why they took it away from Frontierland. That, and that it just wasn't popular enough.
